A couple of days ago, we’ve reached the milestone of 30,000 members. This is for FMFormation a moment to never forget and because this happened so soon after the release of Football Manager 2008, we decided to explain, in this topic, some of the current features of FMF. Some are old features which have been renewed, others are pretty new features. Please take a couple of minutes to read what you can do on FMF and what we’ve changed in the past couple of weeks. Feel free to discuss the features mentioned below. Enjoy! Site and Graphics: We of FMFormation are always looking for ways to improve the site. This time we came to the conclusion that the home of the site was just not colorful enough. With this in mind, Spanish opened Photoshop and made some good looking section images (which you can see at the left) and also a sweet looking banner. We hope this will invite new visitors to stay, have a couple of drinks and wake up on the FMF floor the next morning.
Forum Sections: Every time a new Football Manager comes out, FMF has to re-organize the whole site. The main things to re-organize are the forum sections. We’ve put Football Manager 2006 and 2007 together and made sure they don’t take a lot of space of the forums. New sections have been created for Football Manager 2008. There are also some sections which have been removed such as the Download Reminder sections. We hope everyone is satisfied with the new set-up and that FM2008 will bring many posts with it. This is our message to everyone: please stay/be active on the forums!
Download Sections: Just like with FM2006 and FM2007, we intend to have all the downloads for FM2008 in our download database. New sections have been made for the latest baby of Sports Interactive and we will try to provide you guys with all the utilities, patches, graphical add-ons and other downloads which can be used for FM2008. But you can also help us. When you’ve made a download for FM2008 please add it in our Download Centre. You can also help us by adding downloads made by others. Make sure you’ve got permission from the author though. With your help we can make sure the FMF Download Database has everything a diehard FM fan needs!
Database Update: What is the first thing that pops in your mind when you think of FMFormation? It’s most likely the FMFormation’s Database Updates. Since FM2006 we are making these detailed updates and with both FM2006 as FM2007 they’ve been a huge success in the FM community. So it doesn’t come as a surprise when we announce that FMF will continue making database updates and we hope you lads (and gals) will like it as much as we hope you will. We totally renewed our scouting crew. Inactive scouts have been removed, new scouts have been appointed and the crew has been re-organized. As a member you have the possibility to make sure the database updates are as up-to-date as possible. Please post all the transfers and other changes in the topic created for it in the Database Update section. Thanks in advance.
Graphics for FM2008: Graphics, graphics, graphics… sometimes we think there’s nothing more important for the Football Manager fans than to make their game look as good as possible with hundreds of graphical add-ons. Kits, logos, face packs, skin and match graphics. Rotated Logos, Stickerbook V2 Logos, E2G Glassy Logos... everyone loves different kind of logos and the same goes for kits, face packs and skins. That’s the reason why there are so many different graphics for one single game. With FM2006 and FM2007 we did our best to make it possible for everyone to download their kind of graphics by adding tons of graphics into our Downloads Center. For FM2008 we are trying to do the same. At this moment, we are very busy adding all the graphics with the approval of the creators. Besides that, our own graphical team has created graphical packs and will continue to do so in the future. We will also do our best to provide Superpacks for different kind of graphics. So keep an eye on the Download Center and don’t miss our on the wonderful world of Football Manager Graphics.
Donators: Being a Donator should be a privilege and one with many advantages. As a Donator, you’ve helped us with the many expenses a large website brings with it. In return, we are always looking for ways to give the Donator something back for his generous donation. Our biggest gift to the Donators is access to the beta versions of FMFormation’s Database Update. This is just one of the many features someone gets who donates. We don’t like asking for money but if someone makes a generous donation, we want to make sure that person gets a lot in return. So if you like this site and you don’t mind giving a small donation, we would appreciate it very much and you would help out the site big time!
Partnerships: FMFormation is all about the community. With this we don’t only mean our community but also other communities, especially those in the Football Manager Scene. We’ve decided to bring the scene closer together. In order to make this happen, we tried to get a partnership with the biggest foreign FM sites. This means sites which are in a foreign language like Dutch, Portuguese, Italian, Greek etc. etc. Besides bringing the scene closer together, this is for us a great opportunity to get quality scouts for the database update. We know for sure that all the foreign FM sites want to have their country up-to-date in the database update and we hope they are willing to help us achieving that.
Shoutbox: Probably the most used feature of FMFormation. Every day, tons of FM fans visit FMF to discuss everything FM or football related in our very own shoutbox. Bragging about the successes you’ve achieved in your game, asking for good players to buy or simply if you’re in need of some technical advice. It’s all possible in the shoutbox. The shoutbox has made FMF a tight community and some of you even made new friends thanks to the shoutbox. We started FMFormation because we wanted to fulfill all your FM needs so it feels really good when we see FM fans having a good time in the shoutbox. To make sure everyone enjoys the time they spend in the shoutbox, we’ve set up a couple of rules. Rules are simple: You aren’t allowed to swear, fight with other shoutbox users, talk about things that are illegal, things like that. It’s basically one simple rule: Behave!
vBookie: Who doesn’t love to gamble on football matches? Our own and unique vBookie allows you guys to do just that without spending a single dime of the money you worked hard for. You can gamble with the money which you’ve earned by posting on the forums. Since a year this system has been installed on our site but we know that not everyone knows about it. With the release of FM2008, we want to try and make vBookie a more active part of FMF. This means more matches to gamble on, faster pay-outs of the matches and a bigger crew to deal with vBookie. To make sure everyone knows whose part of that crew, we’ve made a separate Usergroup for it called vBookie Team. You will notice the team by its blue name color. So what are you waiting for… let’s start gambling!
Arcade: You’re playing FM2008 and you press on “Continue”. Now it’s waiting for the game to return, which could take a while. When you’re further in the game, one single “Continue” takes a lot longer to wait. The perfect solution is the Arcade. While you’re waiting for FM to process everything, go to our Arcade, play one of the many, many games and set some high scores while you’re at it. You can even set up a tournament of a particular game! At this moment we have 62 games for you to play. There will be added many more in the near future.
