Default The definitive guide to Croatian football. Part 1.

Prva HNL
History
The Prva HNL was formed in 1991, following the dissolution of the Yugoslav First League, and is operated by the Croatian Football Federation. The first season started in February 1992. Since its formation, the league went through many changes in its system and number of participating clubs. Currently, there are 12 teams participating in the league.

Each season of the Prva HNL starts in late July or early August and ends in May, with a two-month hiatus between December and February. Historically, the teams were split into two groups of six which continued to play separately starting in March. These two groups were known as the Championship League and the Relegation League. However, the 2006-07 season introduced a new system in which everybody plays everybody three times in the season. Upon the end of the first part of the season, consisting of 22 matchdays, a draw is held to pair the teams and decide host teams for the last 11 matchdays of the season. This system brought one additional matchday in comparison to the preceding seasons.

At the end of each season, the last team is directly relegated to the Druga HNL and the second-last team goes in the relegation play-off, a two-legged tie against the second-placed team from the Druga HNL. The champions qualify for the first qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League, the runners-up for the UEFA Cup qualifying, as well as the winners of the Croatian Cup, with the third-placed team winning a spot in the UEFA Intertoto Cup. The average attendance for the 06-07 season was about 3,150 per game. Altogether the attendance was 622,900. UEFA currently ranks the league 26th in Europe.

Clubs

Cibalia
History
Hrvatski Nogometni Klub Cibalia (stand for Croatian F.C. Cibalia) is a Croatian football club, from Vinkovci in the northeast of Croatia.

Cibalia currently plays in the Prva HNL. The Stadion Cibalia is located in the southern part of the city and it can hold 12,000 spectators. The name Cibalia comes from the city of Vinkovci's name in Roman times of Colonia Aurelia Cibalae.

The club was founded in 1919 as HGŽK Cibalia Vinkovci. In 1925 the team merged with RŠK Sloga. During World War II the club ceased to exist. After the war a revived Sloga and OFD Graničar merged to form FK Dinamo Vinkovci. The club would see several humble decades before finally making it to the Yugoslav First League in 1982. They played in the top-tier league for five years until they were relegated to the second league once more in 1987.

In 1990 the team returned to its more traditional name which it currently holds. Cibalia spent much of the 1990s in the Prva HNL with its highest finish being fifth place. It remained in the Prva HNL until the 2003/2004 season when it was relegated to the Second League. The club was also penalized by FIFA the same season by six points (the equivalent of two victories) for failure to fulfill financial obligations in past player transfers. Nevertheless, in the 2004/2005 season, Cibalia outdid all of its opponents in the Second League by a large margin, won the promotion playoffs and returned to Prva HNL.

Cibalia also had some success playing in the Croatian Cup, where it reached the final (and lost from NK Osijek) in 1999 and semifinal in 2004.

In FM
Cibalia are predicted to come bottom of the league in first season. and with the current squad it is one hell of a chellenge if you are willing to take them on.
The strongest member of the first team is 23 year old defender Marko Radas. The team will definatly need a new goalkeeper as the current keeper is very poor, and there is now backup for him. The assistant manager says that the current squad is strong enough to survive in 1.HNL this season, although i would get in some new quality signings.

NK Dinamo
History

Origins

After WWII following the rise to power of the Communist Party of Yugoslavia, three very popular Zagreb football clubs (HAŠK, Građanski, Concordia) were disbanded overnight, and a municipal club was formed on June 9 1945. Like other football clubs outside Croatia in Eastern Europe, it was also called Dinamo ("Dynamo"), and all the best and prospective Građanski players immediately joined the newly formed club. The newly formed club played at the old stadium of HAŠK, while most of the players were from Građanski, a number of outstanding players were forced to join Partizan Belgrade (Stjepan Bobek, Miroslav Meho Brozović, Franjo Glaser and Florijan Matekalo)[1]. In fact, they were conscripted in Yugoslav Army since they did not participate actively in World War II. Florijan Matekalo was coach of FK Partizan and later lived and died in Serbia even after split up between Croatia and Yugoslavia. Franjo Glaser already played for the BSK Belgrade before the World War II. Only Miroslav Brozović, born in Herzegovina, claimed that he was forced to play for Partizan[2] although he himself wanted to move to BSK Belgrade before the World War II. It is often incorrectly associated with HAŠK (Hrvatski akademski športski klub, Translated: Croatian Academic Sports Club), formed on November 6 1903 as a students' club.

Márton Bukovi, the former Građanski manager, continued to work at Dinamo together with masseur Franjo Žlof, also a former Građanski player. Of the HAŠK players that transferred to Dinamo, the regulars in the first team were Ratko Kacian, Željko Čajkovski, Svetozar Peričić and Dragutin Lojen. Only Čajkovski remained in Maksimir for a longer period, for a total 11 years. The newly formed club also took Građanski's blue colours and from 1969 onwards, the club's emblem was very similar to that of Građanski's.

In FM
NK Dinamo are the most succesful team in Croatia, winning the most league and cup titles ever.
They arguably have the best squad in 1.HNL and should win the league with ease. The only strengthening that the squad needs is an extra few midfielders to help bolster the midfield. If you take on this job in FM you will have to cope with the huge expectations of the fans, which means getting to the 3rd qualifying round of the champions league, and winning the national cup and league. a loss to Hajduk over the season will be disastrous and you could lose your job. They are a rich club with plenty to spend on Reinforcements should you need them. The key member of the squad is Luka Modric, who i wouldnt sell under any kind of deal, he will be integral to your plans if you want to get any european success.
Dinamo's home ground is Maksimir Stadium, which is situated in the northeast borough of the city of Zagreb (called Maksimir) next to the famous Maksimir Park (forest) and the Zagreb Zoo. The stadium's current capacity is 38,923 and it's set to be rebuilt and renovated from 2008.

Hajduk Split
History

The club was founded in the famous, centuries old pub Flek in Prague (then also a part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire) by a group of students from Split (Fabijan Kaliterna, Lucijan Stella, Ivan Šakić and Vjekoslav Ivanišević). They went to the pub right after a match between Sparta and Slavia and decided it was high time their own town founded its professional club. They all knew how popular the sport was back home, and how well their friends back home played. The club was officially registered with the authorities on February 13, 1911. The name originates from the hajduks, romanticized bandits that fought the Ottoman Turks.

Hajduk gathered the pro-Croat party of citizens of Split, Croat unionists or puntari. That is why the club specifically has the name "hrvatski nogometni klub" (Croatian football club) and has the Croatian coat-of-arms in its logo. The club itself was against the Austro-Hungarian government's policy of not allowing the unification of Croatian provinces and keeping them separated (the government and the emperor did not allow the reunion of Dalmatia with the rest of Croatia). Hajduk reached its first period of glory in the late twenties, when it won two Yugoslav championships, breaking the domination of clubs from Belgrade and Zagreb. Particularly interesting is the club's war episode. After the Italian occupation of Split during World War II, the club ceased to compete in defiance, and declined an offer to join the Italian first division. In 1944, the team and staff clandestinely joined the Yugoslav partisans on the island Vis and continued to play as an official partisan army team. After the war, the partisan leader and later president of Yugoslavia, Tito, (impressed by the club's proficency and its unique Dalmatian spirit) invited Hajduk to move to Belgrade and become an official army team. But, Hajduk's players refused this lucrative offer and continued playing in their hometown. The club, however, continued to be Tito's favorite long after the war. Hajduk had its best years in the 1970s. The so-called "zlatna generacija" (Golden Generation) won five consecutive cups and three championships in the 1972 to 1979 period. It was the second most successful club in Yugoslavia far outstripping the third, its present day rival, Dinamo Zagreb.

The Hajduk kit is white shirt and blue shorts.

Hajduk won two Yugoslav (kingdom) championships, seven Yugoslav championships, eight Croatian championships, as well as nine Yugoslav Cup titles, four Croatian Cups and six super cups.

Abroad, the club has reached the quarterfinals of the Champions Cup (now UEFA Champions League) three times (last time 1995), and two European semifinals: Cup Winners' Cup 1973, and UEFA Cup 1984.

Hajduk is famous for its youth school. It is one of the most prolific producers of high quality footballers which often continue careers in famous European teams. Some of Hajduk's former players include: Alen Bokšić (ex Juventus, Lazio, Middlesbrough), Robert Jarni (ex Juventus, Betis, Real Madrid), Slaven Bilić (ex Karlsruhe, Everton), Igor Štimac (ex West Ham, Derby County), Milan Rapaić (Perugia, Fenerbahçe, Standard Liege), Igor Tudor (Juventus), Ivica Šurjak (ex Paris SG), Luka Peruzović (ex Anderlecht), Aljoša Asanović (ex PAO), Ivan Buljan (ex Hamburger SV) and Zlatko Vujović (ex Bordeaux).

When the Croatian national team won third place at the 1998 World Cup in France, amongst the first 11, there were 5 former Hajduk players.

Since 1979, Hajduk plays at the Poljud stadium. It was built by the Yugoslavian federal government for the 1979 Mediterranean games that were held in Split. Thanks to lavish federal funding, the stadium is quite impressive, not so much in size (though it is large) as it is in architecture, having one of the most distinctive and beautiful designs in the world at the time of its construction.

Before that, Hajduk played its games at the "Kod stare plinare" stadium ("By the old gas facility"), also known as "Stari plac" ("Old Square") or "Staro Hajdukovo" ("Old Hajduk's"). Before the transformation that area into the football pitch, the area was known as "Kraljeva njiva" ("King's Field") and it was part of a military camp.

The fans are called Torcida (since 1950) as they took their name after their idolized Brazilian fan groups, which are named torcidas, from the Portuguese 'torcer', to cheer on. Supporters popularly call the players of Hajduk bili (dialect for 'bijeli', plural form of white) and are the oldest organized supporters' group in Europe.

Hajduk is by far the most popular sport team in the Croatian region of Dalmatia. Hajduk also has a strong fan base throughout the rest of Croatia, especially in littoral areas, as well as in Slavonia. Hajduk is also a very important part of the region's identity.

In the former Yugoslavia, Hajduk was the team that had supporters all over the country, among all national and religious communities (not only among the Croats); no other club achieved that. It is important to mention the big popularity of Hajduk among Albanians in socialist Yugoslavia, especially in Kosovo, where the popularity of Hajduk can be compared with that in Dalmatia.

Outside of Croatia, Hajduk also has many supporters throughout the rest of the world. It is said that Hajduk has never played a single game anywhere in the world without at least a small group of Torcida in the stands. Countries with huge fan clubs membership include Brazil, Chile New Zealand, Australia and Canada - mostly countries with significant Croat immigration from Dalmatia.

In FM:
Hajduk are the second team in Croatia. The board expect you to win the division, however it will be a huge task for even the most seasoned FM pro. they have a much worse squad than Dinamo and arent as rich either, the best player in the squad is Latvian striker Maris Verpakovskis who is on loan from Dinamo Kiev. I definatly recommend signing a new RB you can get a very capable player in Daniel Saric who is currently without a club.

Inter Zapresic
NK Inter Zaprešić is a Croatian football club, from Zaprešić near the Croatian capital of Zagreb.

The club was formed in 1929. During the Yugoslav era, its name was Jugokeramika, deriving from club's main sponsor. In 1990 it was renamed to NK Inker Zaprešić. The current name was adopted in 2003.

It saw its successes in the early days of the Prva HNL, winning the tournament "Slobodna Hrvatska" (Free Croatia) in 1991 and the Croatian Cup in 1992.

NK Inter Zaprešić plays out of Stadion Intera which has a capacity of 5,000 (3,500 seats).

Club's nicknames are "Keramičari" (Cheramics makers) and "Div iz predgrađa" (Giant from the suburb).

In FM
Inter have one of the weaker side's in 1.HNL and are expected to struggle with a prediction of 10th. Overall they dont have a bad squad, the only strengthening they need really are some quality backup defenders.

NK Međimurje
NK Međimurje is a Croatian football club based in the city of Čakovec. The club is named after Međimurje, a region in which Čakovec is located, and plays its home games at Stadion SRC Mladost, which has a capacity of 7,000 and also serves as a home stadium for local rivals NK Čakovec. The club's fans are known as the Angels.

History

The club was founded in June 2003 on the remains of NK Omladinac Novo Selo Rok. Since Omladinac was playing in the Croatian Second League in the previous season, Međimurje started to compete in that league and finished first in its inaugural season, promoting to the Prva HNL, where it has played for three seasons.
In FM
NK Međimurje are in my opinion the weakest team in 1.HNL they are predicted 11th in the first season. the squad needs heavy re-inforcements all over the squad and this could prove very difficult with the budget you are given. However the club has a healthy bank balance which puts you in a great position for the future if you keep it that way.

NK Osijek
History

NK Osijek's early roots are found in club called NK Udarnik that was formed in 1945 under FPR Yugoslavia's new communist authorities on the ashes of dissolved HŠK Slavija. Slavija was founded in 1916 and competed in the Narodna liga of Kingdom of Yugoslavia (country's top division) from 1923 until 1940.

In 1946 NK Udarnik and another local club NK Jedinstvo merged together to form a new entity - NK Slavonija. The very next year, NK Slavonija merged with NK Bratstvo thus again creating a new club - NK Proleter. This took place on February 2, 1947, a date that present day NK Osijek considers to be its birthday.

On September 1, 1962 NK Proleter joined with the Boxing and Athletic club Mladost and formed a multi-sport Sportsko društvo Slavonija (Slavonija Sporting Society). The football club thus again started competing under the name NK Slavonija.

Finally on April 3, 1967, SD Slavonija's football section announced its separation from the sporting society and started competing under the name NK Osijek. At the time, the club colors were red and blue, but sometime in the 1970s they were changed to blue and white.

Since the late 1970s the club has almost exclusively played in the top division of SFR Yugoslavia. The club entered the Yugoslav First League in 1977 and remained there until its dissolution in 1991 (with the exception of the 1980/81 season). Osijek was one of the founding members of the Prva HNL in 1991 and has played there ever since.

It has seen moderate success in the Prva HNL, achieving a UEFA Cup spot in 1998/1999 and winning the Croatian Cup in 1999.

The club's most famous former player is Davor Šuker, who went on to be the most successful Croatian striker in international play and a starter on many of Europe's top clubs.

NK Osijek host domestic fixtures at Stadion Gradski vrt which has a capacity of 19,500. The team's fans are known as Kohorta.

In FM
NK Osijek have a rather strong squad which should confortably finish in the top half of the league. with a predicted position of 5th, you should achieve this goal without much problem. The one problem you may encounter is the chairman selling players. You have no money and the club is in debt so it will be a long-term battle trying to improve the club finances without compromising the playing squad.

Rijeka
History

The club was founded first in 1925 as Unione Sportiva Fiumana. Fiumana played in First Division (Prima divisione) that was second level of the Italian Football Championship and reached the National Division (Divisione Nazionale), the first level of Italian football in 1928. After 1929, it competed in Serie B in 1929-1930 and 1941-1942 seasons. The club was renamed Kvarner in 1946, due to Rijeka (Fiume at the time) passing from Italy to Yugoslavia. During its early period in the Yugoslav, the club had moderate success in various Yugoslav and local club championships. It changed its name to "Rijeka" on June 3, 1954, and advanced to the Yugoslav First League in the 1957/58 season. It remained in the top tier until the 1969/70 season, when it was demoted to the Second League. It topped that league many times but it until 1973/74 to return to the First League, where it would remain all the way until the breakup of Yugoslavia.

Rijeka won the Yugoslav Cup in 1978 and 1979, was a runner-up in 1987, won the Croatian Cup in 2005 and in 2006, and participated several times in various UEFA championships. Although it has never advanced to final stages of the competition, Rijeka has topped and shocked some of the biggest clubs in the history of soccer on its home field during the 1980s, like Real Madrid and Juventus.

Rijeka has been playing in the Prva HNL since the independence of the country in 1991, generally finishing near the top. Notably it finished second in 1999 and 2006 and third in 2004. Due to many format changes of the league, Rijeka has played more games in the competition than any other team. In the 2004/2005 season, its player Tomislav Erceg was the top scorer of the Prva HNL with 17 goals.

In FM
Rijeka are one of the stronger sides in the country, your aim is for 4th position at least, and you need to get european football secured in your 1st season. The squad is capable of doing this and realistically you could be challenging for 2nd position ahead of Hajduk if you get the right tactics installed.

Slaven Belupo
History

The first football club in Koprivnica was founded back in June 1907, when a student team was formed and named Đački nogometni klub, which is Croatian for Students' Football Club. The name Slaven first appeared when a sports club named HŠK Slaven was founded by the members of the Friedrich family on August 20, 1912 and this is considered to be the foundation date of the present-day club. The club won the Croatian regional championship in 1920. Slaven was subsequently renamed HŠK Victorija, but was then disbanded due to financial difficulties and the city of Koprivnica was subsequently without a football club for four years, between 1926 and 1930.

Between 1930 and 1945, the club was known as HŠK Koprivnica, HŠK Danica and RNHŠK Sloga, before the name Slaven returned with the foundation of FD Slaven. Between 1953 and 1958, the club was known as SD Podravka and was then renamed NK Slaven. The name Slaven remained until today, with only the names of the club's principal sponsors being added to it. The club was thus known as NK Slaven Bilokalnik between 1992 and 1994, after which it was given its current name following a sponsorship agreement with the Koprivnica-based pharmaceutical company Belupo.

Slaven gained their first promotion to the Prva HNL in 1997 and have been playing in the league without relegation ever since. In 2000, they surprisingly finished fifth in the Prva HNL and qualified for the UEFA Intertoto Cup. In their first Intertoto Cup appearance, they managed to reach the third round of the competition before being eliminated by Czech club SK Sigma Olomouc after losing 2-0 at home and getting a goalless draw on the road. One year later, they repeated the success and were only stopped by renowned English club Aston Villa F.C. with a 3-2 aggregate defeat. In their next two Intertoto Cup appearances, they were even more successful as they reached the semifinals of the competition on both occasions, only to be eliminated after losing to renowned clubs Stuttgart from Germany and Lille from France respectively. Their last Intertoto Cup appearance in 2005 ended in the third round with a 4-0 aggregate defeat to Spanish club Deportivo La Coruńa.

In 2007, the club reached the Croatian Cup final after beating defending Cup holders NK Rijeka 3-2 in the second leg of the semifinals, going on to play Dinamo Zagreb in the final. Although losing to Dinamo in the final, 2-1 on aggregate, Slaven took a place in the UEFA Cup qualifying for the first time in their history, since their opponents had already qualified for the UEFA Champions League by virtue of having won the Prva HNL.

In FM
This is one of the hardest teams to be in 1.HNL. the club has massive expectations of continentla finish at the end of the season, but with no transfer money and not that great of a squad you will almost certainly fail as your main competitors for europe have far better squads.

Sibenik
HNK Šibenik is a Croatian football club based in the city of Šibenik on the Croatian coast.

The club was formed in 1932. In 2006 the club finished first in the Croatian Second League's southern division and was promoted into the Prva HNL.

HNK Šibenik plays on Stadion Šubićevac (Šubićevac Stadium) which has a capacity of 8,000.

Šibenik's fans are called Funcuti and are known for their hatred towards other two Dalmatian clubs, HNK Hajduk Split and NK Zadar.

In FM
Sibenik are another squad aiming high on a shoestring budget, and like Slaven Belupo will almost certainly be one of the teams to miss out on europe next season. They have a rather strong squad, good enough to challenge for a top 5 position, howver i feel the NK Zagreb, Hajduk and Rijeka squads are to strong for Sibenik this season.

Varteks
History
The club was founded on June 3, 1931 under the name of NK Slavija and existed under this name until 1941. During World War II, the club temporarily ceased to exist and was then reorganised under the name of NK Tekstilac in 1945. The name Varteks was given to the club in 1958 and remained until today. The club is named after the Varaždin-based textile and clothing company, which has been its principal sponsor since it was founded under its current name.

The club's first success happened back in 1938, when they qualified to participate in the premier league of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia. In SFR Yugoslavia, their biggest success was the advancement to the final of the Yugoslav Cup in 1961, but they lost the title to Macedonian club Vardar Skopje.

Varteks has been a member of the Prva HNL since its foundation in 1991. They have not managed to win any national titles so far, but are regularly placed near the top of the table and were also the runners-up in the Croatian Cup five times. In the spring of 1999, they had a significant international success when they managed to advance to the quarterfinals of the now defunct UEFA Cup Winners' Cup, but were then defeated by Real Mallorca with 3-1 in the second-leg away match after playing a goalless draw at home in the first leg. They also attracted some attention at the international level back in 2001, when they eliminated Aston Villa from the UEFA Cup on away goals.

Varteks is a small market team and not a very rich club, yet it consistently places in the top 5 in the First Croatian League. The driving force behind Varteks is their youth training. It is consistently one of the best in the country and is solely responsible for their success. Most of Varteks' senior players rose through the ranks of the youth system, earned their spots on the senior squads and were often sold to the bigger market teams in Croatia or to foreign clubs.

In FM
Varteks are predicted 8th in the league, and this is a reasonable aim, you should be able to achieve this target, eventhough you have no money to spend, the bank balance of the cluib is very helpful so if you ask for more money you may be given some more money.

Zadar:
NK Zadar is a Croatian football club, from Zadar on the Croatian coast. The club was founded in 1945.

Josip Skoblar, Giovanni Rosso, Dado Pršo, Jakov Surac and Luka Modrić, are among the most successful to come from the team.

NK Zadar's home stadium is the Stanovi stadium with a capacity of 8,000. The club's fans are known as the Tornado. Their crest features the city's landmark Church of St. Donatus.

The club was promoted to the Prva HNL on 30 May 2007 after beating NK Pula in the promotion playoff, 6-2 on aggregate.

In FM
As they were promoted via the playoffs last season they dont have a very strong squad. the defence certainly needs strengthening as it is very weak and will leak goals galore against the top side's.

NK Zagreb

NK Zagreb is a Croatian football club, from the Croatian capital of Zagreb.

NK Zagreb's home is a stadium in Kranjčevićeva street (Stadium in Kranjčevićeva),with capacity of 12,000. The club's fans are known as the White Angels (Bijeli Anđeli in Croatian). They are known for their somewhat unique views in Croatian football supporter's scene in that they are strictly opposed to all forms of discrimination (whether it's religious, national, or any other kind), and have a strong anti-hooliganism standpoint.

The nickname of the club is "The Poets" (Pjesnici in Croatian; first mentioned by a radioreporter Ivo Tomić). Kranjčevićeva street, where their stadium is located, is named after Croatian poet Silvije Strahimir Kranjčević.

History

The club was founded in 1903 as PNIŠK (Prvi Nogometni i Športski Klub, translated First Football and Sports Club), being one of the first to be formed in Croatia. First secretary was Dragutin Baki, the president was Vilhelm Witte, and the captain of the team and instructor was Chech Jan Todl.

Since there weren't any clubs to play with, the first official match was played between the club's players divided into two groups in 1904. Ticket income from the match was 3 krune and 3 filirs.

The first international match was played in 1905. against Magyar champion FTC on Magyar Athleticai Club's pitch. Home team won with a high 11:1 score. The players who played for Zagreb were: Filipčić, Schwarz, Todl, Mutefelija, Slavnič, Ugrinić, Polivka, Uhrl, Višinger, Koruna, and Torbić.

However, after World War II, NK Zagreb has been overshadowed by several larger, more successful clubs, especially their local rival NK Dinamo Zagreb.

One of the most notable matches Zagreb played was the one on 19th of July, 1973. when "Great drama in Maksimir" took place - a match between N.K. Zagreb and N.K. Osijek on a stadium in Maksimir. It was a second of two qualifying matches for entering the first league; the first one in Osijek ended 0:0 with attendance of 25.000. The second match was played in Maksimir because of great demand for tickets - the attendance was 64138 which broke the stadium record and stands to this day. Zagreb won the match after penalty kicks (4:3).

Lineup for this team was: Horvat, Gašparini, Tucak, Antolić, Ivanišević, Lipovac, Markulin, Čopor (Hušidić), Močibob, Rukljač, Smolek (Bakota).

Among NK Zagreb's more notable players was Ivica Olić who led the club to its first championship of the Prva HNL in 2002. Also worth mentioning here is Joško Popović, (who played in the 1990s, and is still active in 2005) 2nd top-goalscorer ever in Prva HNL.

In the championship of 2002., N.K. Zagreb broke the duopoly of N.K. Dinamo and N.K. Hajduk for the first (and until today the only) time - and it was well deserved. N.K. Zagreb had the best coach of the season, the best player, the best assistant, the best scorer. They've won most points, the least losses, the most wins, scored more goals and received the least continually being the top team and in one moment had 11 points more than second best team.

Standard lineup for the champion team was: Vasilj, Stavrevski, Pirić, Ješe, Bulat, Poldrugač, Duro, Hasančić, Franja, Lovrek, Olić.

There are two other football competitions being played in Croatia - cup and winter championship. While N.K. Zagreb never won the cup, it is two time winner of winter championship which was played only two times.

In FM
NK Zagreb are widely classed as 3rd best in Croatia, they are in Euro Vase first season. They have a rather strong squad, however i rec. getting ihn a few defenders, i would try for Djolonga available on a free, he is very capable and is a star on my NK Zagreb game. i also advise you bring in either a striker (Josip Simic) or an attacking midfielder(Rene Mihelic)

Bloody hell Fed. I don't know how you mustered the time or effort to write all that but well done.

I don't know if I can wait for the 2nd part as it took me a bleedin' age to read this part.

Also, I had no idea that Hadjuk Split was formed in a pub. Me and my mates can't even sort out a proper night out in a pub, let alone a professional football team!

Brilliant stuff Feddo.

Now this is what I call making a comprohensive guide! If you decide to make one why not spend a lot of time making it? And that is exactly what Feddo must have thought. A lot of detail, well written, easy to write and a tons of information to read through.

This is just amazing. Hitting the "Thanks" button is the least I could do for such a great guide!

I didnt see any mention of a kitchen sink in that guide...But you got damn near everything else.

Ive never really attempted croation football, as far as their side of european footy goes I personally know very little about the clubs or the players.

Maybe about time I gave it a go. Cheers Fedders, super guide mate.
