[/color]EVERTONFANS HONG KONG GUIDE

Well, as you all know, i do like a game in Hong Kong in fm, hopfully this will inspire you all to give it a shot as well ;)

THE OFFICIAL STUFF ;)

Hong Kong First Division League (officially known as HKFA Coolpoint Ventilation First Division League due to sponsorship reason) is the top division football league in Hong Kong established in 1908. It enjoys a separate status from the league system in the People's Republic of China.

League rules
Each team plays the other teams twice, one home and one away game. The ticket profits go to the home team. If there are two matches in the same stadium on the day, the profits are shared between the two home teams.

Since most of the teams do not have a home ground, the games are mostly played in Hong Kong Stadium or Mongkok Stadium. It happens that one team plays their home games in both stadiums in the same season.

The bottom two teams are relegated to the Hong Kong Second Division League, this league is not on football manager 2008.

Each season, HKFA would decide the maximum number of foreign and mainland Chinese players each club can have and how many can play in each
Game.

STADIUMS
As Hong Kong is a small place, most clubs do not have space to build home stadiums. Even if they have their own training ground (as in the case of South China), the league matches are played elsewhere. The First Division League games are usually play in Hong Kong Stadium or Mong Kok Stadium, but sometimes they are played in other fields. In season 2006-07, Wofoo Tai Po, HKFC and Lanwa have their own home grounds, which are Tai Po Sports Ground, Hong Kong FC Stadium and Dongguan Sports Ground (in Dongguan, China) respectively.

List of stadiums used:

Hong Kong Stadium
Hong Kong FC Stadium
Mong Kok Stadium
Siu Sai Wan Sports Ground
Tai Po Sports Ground

THE LAST 7 YEARS OF THE LEAGUE

2000-01 1st: Happy Valley 2nd:Instant-Dict
2001-02 1st: Sun Hei 2nd:Happy Valley
2002-03 1st: Happy Valley 2nd:Sun Hei
2003-04 1st: Sun Hei 2nd:Kitchee
2004-05 1st: Sun Hei 2nd:Happy Valley
2005-06 1st: Happy Valley 2nd:Sun Hei
2006-07 1st:South China 2nd: Kitchee

The current champions, South China have won the title on no less then 28 times since their 1st title win, in the 1948/49 season.

Hong Kong in FM08
Hong kong is probably one of the smallest leagues on the game, with only 18 games to be played, the league can be very close, or very widespread, with some surprises as well!

Also there is the challenge of trying to find the next big player for the league, with the regulations this is quite hard as most teams have already filled there 13 foreign players slots up, so there is always the possibility you will have to sell players to get new ones in.

Theres a regulation in the league as well, you can only have 7 ‘foreign’ players in a squad, so with 13 on your books, u have to be careful on what ones u want to keep happy, and which ones u would be willing to let leave, or you could just rotate them the rafa benitez style, don’t know how far that will get you though ;)

thanks to James M for the sig, cheers buddy :D

Wicked guide Dean on an unknown league.

Great that you've chosen a league that nobody knows about to enhance people's knowledge and so that they might think about managing there on FM!

KUTGW! :D

good guide. Im currently Tai Po. avoided relegation first season which I have to say must be regarded as a success. With so few teams and matches EVERY game counts, I personally feel its one of the greatest FM challenges. Especially if you are a small team, Happy Valley, South China, Kitchee have more money its easier to manage those clubs.

The foreign players are key as they will make or break your squad you have to use them wisely. Also finding players willing to come to Hong kong league is very difficult. Try scouring amateur teams. Ive managed to sign a few bulgarians before. Also generally players in hong kong are small and seem to have fairly low strength attributes. So if you find a tall physical player they are bound to make an impact in games even if there other stats aren't great. Also it is worth taking note that you are allowed to play trialists in the hong kong leagues. This can prove useful.

Mustapha Hadji will sign for some Hong Kong teams. Although hes old (36) considering ive seen players 50+ playing in hong kong he'll do an excellent job.

If anyone is inspired to play hong kong now its worth checking out my challenge in the 'challenge me' section.

If anyone has found this little snipet of added information helpful you know what to do ;)
