Uefa president Michel Platini is set to propose a shake-up of Champions League qualification in England by handing a place to the FA Cup winners.

Under new proposals, the Cup winners - rather than the team that finishes fourth in the Premier League - would go into Europe's elite cup competition.

It comes after Platini's plan to reduce qualification spots for any one country from four to three was rejected.

However, this proposal could be viewed as a compromise.

The plans will be unveiled by Platini next week, before the group stage of the Champions League gets underway.

stupid idea imo, the team that wins the FA cup would not be the best choice, the best 2/3/4 teams in each league (it varies in different countrys :P) should represent their country in Europes Champs League, the FA Cup winners should get a UEFA cup place at the most imo

Very much agree. Bring some interest back to the cups! Do it in la liga and serie a as well. If you can't make the top 3 (Liverpool) bad luck, you're not good enough.

Might be able to avoid the boooooooooooooooring 0-0 finals with teams actually wanting to go out and win.

no team should be in the champions league exept the champions of the leagues. ive always hated the fact team win the champions league and there not even champions of there country. isnt the name champions league there for a reason?

Im a traditionalist and would like to see just the champions of a country to be in the CHAMPIONS league. And they should bring back the Cup Winners Cup. But if they insist in having no league winners in, i think the national cup idea is the best. A team who finishes 4th having the chance to win the biggest prize in european football is a joke.

i thought the FA cup winners go straight into champs lge? or do they go into uefa cup ?

UEFA, but it dont really matter at the mo cos the recent winners of the cup have qualified for the champions league, so it goes to the runners up, unless they have qualified for the champions league also, if that happens, it goes to the highest league position
