Default Making Friends with other managers

    Hi,

I just had a thought regarding the above-mentioned topic.

If us managers were to make friends with the "managers" of other teams, are there other benefits/cons that we will experience?

For one, I realised your personal knowledge of the country which the manager resides in may increase. I do not know if this is true, but the other time, when I made friends with "Rafa Benitez", I had some knowledge of Spain a few months into my game.

Another not so pleasant one is that they seem to target your star players at every opportunity. As I have played using a "smaller club" most of the time, it ends up that the bigger club managers are after the stars that I developed in the game.

One which I have yet to confirm, but I have a strong hunch, is that they tend to get access on who you seem to be targeting as well. I do not if its pure coincidence, but previously, there was no interest in Daniel Carrico. But after I offered him a contract, the managers whom I had made friends with seem to know of it and also enquired about him. He is not the only example. But this tends to happen after a few years into the game for me.

Can anyone confirm if they have the same experience?

I have had the experience that managers who had me as favoured personnel gave me their players at a reduced price when I tried to buy them.

I haven't experienced the things you did with the trying to nick players but then, I maybe didn't notice.

I normally play the German First Division, maybe it's different there.

I have often made the experience that bidding on a player starts after I bid on him somehow, but this is not related to me being favoured personnel to the managers who bid as well. Often, people join in I didn't even know about in the "Interested" part of the Transfer tab of the player.

Haven realised those few matters above.
But an easier acceptance of bids for players is definite

I did it with about 5-6 managers, in order to leach off their experience in other countries and gain more players in player screen. Had increased knowledge in Spain, France, Germany, Argentina and Italy before. Like others already said, easier to bid for their players I guess. But never had much happening.

If a manager dislikes you he will rarely accept a transfer bid for any of his players. Similarly he will sell his players cheaper if you're best mates

Oh and not to forget the praise exchanges before matches against managers who have you as their favourite... uncanny! But it can help.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I am aware of the "reduced price" benefit, but it does not happen all the time as if you are nicking their top players, they would also reject your bids. (At least this is what I experienced).

I do realise though, that if a manager tries to play mind games or has -ve thoughts on you, but if you win the game against them and praise them, they tend to soften their stance and may be friends with you.
