What will SI do in FM2009 with Joey Barton? Will it say LU beside his name for locked-up, or will it simply say he is banned? What do you think?

They wont do anything mate as there was an incident about 3 seasons ago when 3 Bristol City players got locked up for a couple of months during pre-season which caused them to miss start of season, i think it was, but SI didnt do anything with regards to that on the game, they were available from the start.. I asked in the official SI forums at the time and was told that nothing would be done about it

i think they will just put in "global ban until *date he is released* " its the sensible thing to do :P eventhough i think he should be banned for football for life, he should never be aloud to play again after his behaviour.

I agree fed, he has royally screwed up his career and because of the fact he's been in court 3 times already this year, mainly for violent conduct/assault he should not be allowed back on a football pitch!

I think in the new game if you sign him you should be wary of opposition players taking him out on purpose!!!!!!

In all seriousness though there probably isnt much Si could do about it. If the game went out with barton unavailable "To serving time" knowing the sort of person he is he would probabaly sue them for deformation of character.

And probably win too, the justice system in this country being what it is.

It's pretty much all they can do. It's not worth it re-writing the game so there's an extra 'locked up' ban, lol.

Luke McCormick however might be taken off the game altogether. Then again, I'm pretty sure Lee Hughes is on it.

That I 110% agree on. I saw the CCTV footage for the first time a couple of days ago and that type of behaviour is totally uncalled for. The bloke should take a long look at himself. He's an animal, nothing more. Nothing less.

Lee Hughes was removed almost straight after his "incident" if i remember correctly

i agree he should be banned for life
to be gifted enough to play football as a profession is a privilege that most would do anything for, and as a role model to millions, to do something like that is just terrible
but the same way, common assault outside football would result in much less severe consequences...

I am a Newcastle fan and I hope we just release him and his career rots. However I know Newcastle and we will be stupid enough to keep him on and pay him 60 grand a week while he is still in prison.

Yeah we been over this already in another thread mate and that was my consensus of opinion there too.

I said at the time if he played for Alex Ferguson or Arsene Wenger then Barton would have been gone end of.

NEwcastle the silly lot will stand by him for him to then screw them over when he comes out. Probably spray spiderman with his own sticky white substance.

I think he will get a global ban like rio did.

When i watched the video i didnt understand why only barton was jailed, there was another lad stamping on his head and a lass punching him....

I wouldn't be surprised if we sign him actually.

I mean we've already had Craig Bellamy and Jermaine Pennant. Plus at one point we attempted to sign Lee Bowyer.

Yeah I agree. I can't believe how many chances he's got and I think its time he pays the price for his stupidity. Should be banned.

i think he shouldnt be playing football especially at the top league aswell, its giving english football, and also newcastle a bad reputation for having a convict in the league.

Yea Barton is a idiot but there are plenty more footballers who have gone to jail and continued there career or started a career afterwards or have carried out violent assualts on the pitch and carried on being heros.

lets see from the top of my head

Tony Adams, Marlon King, Lee Hughes, John Hartson, Duncan Fergerson, Ben Thatcher, Jamie Lawrence, Roy Keane admitted he tied to do alfie hes still making a pretty penny from the game.

The biggest fools in all this are Newcastle why they didnt put a clause in his contract that if he ends up in jail he gets no pay god knows why, its not like the guy didnt have a history or why clubs just dont put in a general clause in to all playlers contracts.

but i think they will put global ban
