Question Do new signings disrupt your team?

I've read in the past that signing lots of players can disrupt your team. This would make sense if you bought 5 new first team players, thus totally changing your lineup, but what about if you're just scouring the world for the young talent and chucking them in your U18 / reserve teams? Does this still disrupt things?

And if you do get disruption, e.g. from buying a few new players in January to spruce things up, how long does it last and how can you minimise it?

Im not sure on a number (But I know that somewhere there is one) but too many signings definitely disrupts how thins work. Especially if you start signing players in other players positions. . they will get unsettled and thats never good.

If its buying to fix things up (Instead of half the squad), it shouldn't really affect it, although they need time to gel :)

Not really buy it depends on their personallity. It does take time for them to mix, and also depending on what country they are from. If you put players in U18 and reserves, then it doesn't really matter, but slowly introduce them to first team football if they have potential. If you sign new signings, i tend to just leave them on the bench for 1 game, then give them a full game debut.

if you sign too many players in the transfer window it will take a month or so for the players to gel and get used to how the team plays

signing U18's shouldnt bother the team tbh as they arent in the first team squad.

I always assumed it depended on the mentality of the players you brought in to the squad. Everyone knows that if you bring in too many players at once, you'll upset the balance of the team, like Fed said.
But, I don't believe only a few signings would disrupt your team. Certain players like Joey Barton (who when I've signed, the fans have kicked up a stink saying that he'll disrupt the team) may do the job by themselves though.

I have found that sometimes just one signing can disrupt a team even if they are not a disruptive player - e.g. when at Arsenal I signed another DM as backup for Gilberto, thus upsetting denilson and Diaby who presumably fancied themselves for a run in the team. "too much competition" apparently.

I've no idea if players being unhappy about that sort of thing impacts how well your team plays though

I had no problems with signing about 8 or 9 players for my Ajax team. They just slotted in and gelled with the existing players.

However at Birmingham just signing Danny haynes upset my ST's Gary McSheffrey, Garry O'Connor and Pierre Achille Webo. And they were right to be upset as he cemented an AMC/ST partnership with another new signing Anthony Le Tallec from liverpool with 6 goals in 5 games between them!
