Hi, hope you can help.

I installed FM08 and played it, but I have to keep ejecting and reinserting the cd and/or rebooting before the computer recognises the CD and starts the game. Usually I get a 'no cd inserted' or 'insert original CD rather than a backup' or other similar messages (I have got, and use, the original CD the way)

After spending 30mins or more before getting the game to start I was getting fed up with it so after searching through this and other boards I decided to try a clean install to see if that helps. Now the computer won't even recognise the CD to re-install it!

Anyone have any ideas to solve this! I'm getting really cheesed off with it and if I don't get a solution soon I'm giving up with FM08 which is such a shame as I really enjoy the game.

have you tried gving the cd a wipe might just be some muck on in, that or uninstall then re install your cd driver

Yes I tried wiping the disk.

I also tried a clean boot and still no luck which makes me suspect the drive is the problem so I will try re-installing the CD driver. Thanks

yeah it is definatly the CD driver mate, had the problem with older games, once fixed the FM game should install perfect and play fine!

I had this exact problem when i bought the game!!!! I found my laptop would not read the disk!! After re-inserting it a million times and trying it ended up working. I still get the same problem when starting up the game from time to time??! It may be the age of your PC compared to the fact the game is so new but i am sure with some persistance it will work.
