They won the league on the last day despite having a bad start to the season. Player Of The Season: It's a toss between Cristiano Ronaldo and Fernando Torres. Both performed brilliantly for their clubs but I think Ronaldo probably just pips it because despite Torres being the new hero on The Kop, Ronaldo managed to get a trophy, maybe two in a few days. Underperformers Of The Season: Tottenham Hotspur and Reading both had awful seasons. After last season's performances, they both should have done a lot better. Manager Of The Season: Sir Alex Ferguson. As much as I hate the bloke, for obvious reasons, he continually builds great teams that just keep on winning. Your Personal Highlight Of The Season: Watching Leicester City get relegated as this season I have found Ian Holloway an insufferable fool to put it politely. Best Signing Of The Season: Fernando Torres. 33 goals in his first season in England and Ruud van Nistelrooy's Premier League record taken. Need I say more? Worst Signing Of The Season: Andriy Voronin. I know he didn't cost anything but I honestly believe he isn't anything special at all. Which Team/Player To Look Out For Next Season: West Bromwich Albion, Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United will have to be watched next season. | | | | 16-05-08, 11:31 PM | #5 (permalink) | | Backup To The First Team Join Date: Jan 2008 Posts: 138 Thanks: 6 Thanked 24 Times in 23 Posts Nominated 1 Time in 1 Post TOTW/F/M Award(s): 0 | Team of the Season: I would say Arsenal, they played the best football. Player of the season : I hate to say Ronaldo, but also Adebayor was fantastic. Underperformers of the season: clearly Tottenham, awful start gave them the 11th place. Manager of the season: I would say Tony Pulis, guided Stoke to a very unexpected promotion. Your Personal Highlight Of The Season: seeing Bristol City play fantastic football in the championship Best Signing Of The Season: It's either F.Torres or R. Santa Cruz, I'm going for Santa Cruz because his goals were more important and he was bought for less. Worst Signing Of The Season: Clearly one of these Steve Sidwell, Pizarro or Jimmy Kebe. Which Team/Player To Look Out For Next Season: Of course Tottenham and Newcastle who will hopefully buy better players this summer then last | | | | | 17-05-08, 07:30 AM | #6 (permalink) | | Indispensable To FMF Join Date: Jan 2008 Location: Evesham,England Posts: 1,552 Thanks: 491 Thanked 254 Times in 230 Posts Nominated 3 Times in 3 Posts TOTW/F/M Award(s): 0 | Team Of The Season: Im going to say Man Utd where a great team this season, and although i wanted chelsea to win the premiership on the last day, United where very consitant and a good side to watch, if Arsenal kept up there pace then they would of been Team of the season, i also think Villa and everton have done well this year. Player Of The Season: i got to C.Ronaldo fro scroing 40 plus goals and he just been outstanding for united, also Fernando Torres fro beating Rudd Vanisterooy recored for a foreign striker, then again i could add the ever Improving Ashley Young to this Underperformers Of The Season: Newcastle, everone exeptcs them to challagne for 4th but this year they were more likley to challagne Derby to 20th Manager Of The Season: Gary Johnson, for getting Bristol City to a play-off final in there 1st season is a fantastic achivement Your Personal Highlight Of The Season: Aston Villa 5-1 Birmingham or Middlesbrough 8-1 Man City, the villa game was a special for for us over the blues. BestSigning Of The Season: Fernando Torres, as above, he been brilliant for Liverpool £25 million well spelt Worst Signing Of The Season: Laurent Robert or Pizzaro Robert for only playing 3 games for Derby then leaving Pointless really, and pat from the 1st month Pizzaro has been pants Which Team/Player To Look Out For Next Season: Team to look out for is Fulham, i have no idea why i just think they will improve next season, player to look at for Luka Modric of Tottenham, i think he will be pretty good for them Last edited by adamjigey; 17-05-08 at 07:38 AM. | | | | 17-05-08, 09:00 AM | #7 (permalink) | | Used In Squad Rotation Join Date: Dec 2007 Location: Caerphilly Posts: 402 Thanks: 80 Thanked 79 Times in 73 Posts Nominated 0 Times in 0 Posts TOTW/F/M Award(s): 0 | Team of season:Gotta be Man utd the league has been outstanding for them. Were unlucky not to finish 5th. Player Of The Season: Fernando Torres - For his first year in the Premiership he did fantastic and scored some great goals. Underperformers Of The Season: Reading - Set their standards high by finishing 8th last season but failed to live up to it. Manager Of The Season: Alex Ferguson - As much as i dislike the guy, he did well in holding off Chelsea and Arsenal to give Man Utd their 10th Premier League title. Your Personal Highlight Of The Season: Man Utd 1-2 Man City - Being a City fan it was great to see City win at Old Trafford. Best Signing Of The Season: Vedran Corluka - Probably slightly biased because he plays for City but he's been solid all season and is only 21. Worst Signing Of The Season: Dave Nugent - Never lived up to the price Pompey paid. Which Team/Player To Look Out For Next Season: Tottenham/Luka Modric - Spurs' bad start cost them and next season if they avoid that they will be right up there challenging the big four. Modric was finally brought to the Prem by Ramos and hopefully he'll show us what a great young talent he is. | Credit to Apthered for the awesome sig. | | | 17-05-08, 04:44 PM | #9 (permalink) | | vBookie Team, Member of the Ozza Family Join Date: Jun 2007 Location: Cheshire Posts: 2,657 Thanks: 621 Thanked 410 Times in 332 Posts Nominated 5 Times in 1 Post TOTW/F/M Award(s): 0 | PREMIERSHIP Team Of The Season: Man Utd obviously. Underperformers Of The Season: Liverpool Manager Of The Season: Keith Hill (Rochdale) - Took probably the youngest overall team in the country and led them to the League 2 play-off final! Basically continued where he left off last season when he took over and got rochdale a relegation battle to within 6 points of the play-offs. If we win that then you could say the Rochdale youngsters achieved more than the Arsenal youngsters... Move over Wenger! Your Personal Highlight Of The Season: So far (this is before going to Wembley for the league 2 play-off final) its Rochdale winning 5-4 on penalties in the L2 Play-off semi-final against Darlington - I have sore fingertips and no nails left! He said and I quote in the match day program "I was the top scorer for wolves when the manager called me into his office and told me there was no room in the squad for me. I was shocked that he was letting his Star Striker go..." STAR STRIKER you hated in wolverhampton and sheffield mate don't say your a grwat player cos your not. Laws can't sign good players for us. He wastes money we don't have. God knows how he looked at Leon Clarke's Fat, lazy body and watched him play in training like he has two legs on backwards and thought. "He's going to be Wednesday's 20 goal a season striker that i've been looking for" Until we have millions to spend on strikers, just loan 20 goal a season strikers from premiership clubs.
