Default Capello's First Squad

Are you happy with Capello's first provisional England squad? And do you think it's right that Beckham isn't in?

Discuss Anything here!!!!

Personally I dont like it, I dont like the choice of keepers, it should be Green Robinson and James tbh, and Capello said he wasn't going on reputation, but on what he has seen since his arrival, so why has he put Owen in, coz what has he done since?

Also I think Beckham should be out because he hasn't played competitively in 2-3 months, and he needs to move clubs to win his 100th cap!!!!

Also surprised about Ledley King's inclusion, after reports claiming that he could only play 1 in 3 games for Spurs, but maybe this is a sign that he can play more often!

Dont think Davies should be included but I am happy about Agbonlahor and Jenas' inclusions!!!!!

What the hell is he doing?
Including Carson and Kirland :O
Including Owen :O
Excluding Beckham was a good idea.

I would play:
GK: Joe Hart
DR: Micah Richards
DL: Ashley Cole
DC: Rio Ferdinand
DC: Leadly King
MR: Joe Cole
ML: Aaron Lennon
MC: Steven Gerrard
MC: Michael Carrick
SS: Wayne Rooney
SC: Gabriel Agbonlahor

SS=Second Striker

Who would you guys lay in first 11?

Hart green and james should be the 3 keepers IMO

I cant complain with him dropping beckham, hes not fit and i dont want thim to get his 100th cap just for the sake of it..

Gabby, its about time....

Owen, just no, done nothing for 2 year, why bother?

Heskey... another no...

Jenas shouldnt be in, never should have been.

Lennon should ahve been included but i believe hes in the U21s

Dropping defoe and AJ is good though, they dont play enough to get in.

=O C'mon guys it's only a friendly jees!! I for one am pretty happy bout the squad, show's that Cappello aint scared of mixing it up which is wot this England team needs, remember how we got in this situation in the first place!!! previous managers being to scared to drop big name players.........if we are to qualify for the world cup in 2010 then most of that squad will ave had come of age and who knows we mite actually do well but hey thats just imo, were all intitled to them but lets not jump on Fabio's bk already lol

How can you say Jenas doesnt deserve a place?

He's been brilliant lately!

As for Hart, he hasn't done enough to say he should be in the squad, Robbo should still be there, but if not Robbo it should be Green or James!!!!

And as for other managers being scared to drop big names, then why is Owen in?

I think Beckham should have been in the squad to give him his 100th cap and then drop him and play lennon or someone in the right midfield position or then just make england play attacking football and play 4-3-3 or summat. Other than that the squad is spot on for the availible players. Robinson was right to be dropped because he is useless.

Andy Johnson possibly, or even Darius Vassell, since he's been in charge Vassell's been doing well, Owen hasn't done a thing!

Dean Aston been doing quite well lately too, and even Marcus Bent would have been a possible choice based on current form!!!!

Everyone calm it, it's only a friendly. T.H, you are completly mis-using the GROAN feature. You only groan at someone if they are spamming or off-topic, and Brad has an opinion, and because he doesn't agree with you doesn't mean he is spamming or going off-topic. If he thinks Beckham should get his 100th cap, then so be it, it ain't happening this time, so why even bother groaning at him?

I groaned at him coz he was blatantly being biased, and slagging off Robinson without even explaining it!

Some good points Mirza, I agree with you over Hart and Kirkland, but still think Green deserved a call up!

What blunders you have in mind Mirza?

Robinson should have been dropped because he is not in the first team at Tottenham. Ok, its a friendly and the team is experimental. It was also Capellos first squad and he can't pick a player on videos from last season can he? If, Robinson had been playing then yes he should have been picked. I hope that answers ur query T.H.

IMO beckham isnt good enough anymore when you have the likes of lennon,Young & SWP in that position.. but he should get his 100th cap then drop him..
its good that hes mixing the squad about a bit becuase rooney isnt that great,

should include defoe more now though that hes moved to pompy and is getting regular football now.
should experiment to get the best out of england and not doing what every other manager has done and just played the most "popular and big named players"

:)

We had this argument in the shoutbox, how can you say Rooney isn't good?

And as for Beckham, you're right, although he shouldnt get his 100th cap out of sentimental value, he needs to be playing well and keeping fit, rather than lying in America eating crap. And you forgot about Bentley in the RM position too, he was class on Wednesday!

yea but i wanna see the back of becks lol i dont rate him .. oh yeah i forgot about bentley .. see we have 4class players who play in his position and i think are all better than beckham .. although lennon is in U21 ..
and we should give it to beckham in a friendly and not in a match that is important then say goodbye to him and fackhim off back 2 the states..

i just think rooney is over rated and the way ssome of the forwards in theprem are playing at the moment roonney shouldnt be 1st choice :)

Like who though? Only ones I think should be starting with Rooney are Agbonlahor or Defoe

Ashton aint fit, Johnson couldn't hit a barn door, Crouch doesn't suit Capello's style of play, we dont wanna be restricted to playing long ball, the only way Crouch can play!

Also I think Heskey is a good choice, but Owen has had it, because he doesn't add anything else to the game apart from scoring the odd goal and getting all the praise. Look what happened the other night, when we were playing with Rooney on his own up front we allowed two midfielders to score, just like Ronaldo does for United!

Also think Defoe should definitely be in with a shout, probably the best English natural goalscorer who can play for 3 games in a row! I think that there are a number of English strikers who aren't getting a sniff at the England side, yet they are playing consitently well for their club, people like Marcus Bent, Cameron Jerome, Darius Vassell and Dave Kitson.

yeah wud love to see lanks go out and defoe in to the squad .. defoe will only get better now because he's gonna play week in week out now that he at portsmouth..
maybe we could put agbonlahor an defoe upfront to see if that would work ...
shud deffo take crouch out of capello side. i dont like the long ball style especially to crouch . but thats my opionion and i aint exactly lanks number1 fan lol ;)

I hate him too, and his style of play!!!!

This would be my preferred team:

GK: Robinson
RB Richards
LB Lescott
CB Rio & Terry
CM Gerrard & Jenas
RAM Bentley
LAM Cole
CAM Agbonlahor
CF Rooney

Then on the bench the main 7 subs should be:

S1 Defoe
S2 SWP
S3 King
S4 Young
S5 Green/James
S6 Hargreaves
S7 Nolan coz I really rate him!!!!

What you think?
