I have not heard anything at all, nothing whatsoever. “The way the system works quite often now the managers at the club are the last people to hear. The days of ringing up the manager first and asking whether a player is available are nearly shot to pieces, nearly gone.” Reports from the U.K. this week indicated that TFC manager Mo Johnston was looking to sign the 31-year-old Huckerby and reunite him with former Norwich City teammates Carl Robinson and Jim Brennan. Huckerby has scored three goals in 16 appearances for The Canaries this year. Though Roeder has yet to be approached by TFC, he admitted a deal could still get done. “I think a lot of people do deals around the back door, and then ring the manager and club to see what the possibilities are of moving players on, but I have heard nothing,” he added. “I have had no phone calls from anywhere in this country or anywhere in Canada, or the world.” Here's another one, we've had David Beckham, Juan Pablo Angel, Abel Xavier, Youri Djorkayeff, Celestine Babayaro and Danny Dichio already come over here. Personally I think that this is both good and bad, these plaeyrs have expereince playing at a pretty high level, much better than what we have right now. But at the same time it is bad, with so many players just coming here to finish off their careers with some extra cash But what do you think? Most of this forum isnt from the US & Canada, so how do you feel about it? | | | | 13-02-08, 07:43 PM | #2 (permalink) | | Backup To The First Team Join Date: Dec 2007 Posts: 171 Thanks: 26 Thanked 28 Times in 25 Posts | Players over 30 take advantage of the MLS and the Canadian league by signing to the clubs there for the money and not the football. OR, they could take the ambassorrs approach which David Beckham has taken, to promote football in America. The MLS and the Canadain league are not really as competitive as the European leagues and provide the players with an easy standard of football and reduce the risk of suffering serious injury | Click my Sig to request any GFX :D | | | 13-02-08, 08:38 PM | #3 (permalink) | | Backup To The First Team Join Date: May 2006 Location: Essex Posts: 247 Thanks: 108 Thanked 26 Times in 26 Posts | Plus the weather is miles better. Just an extended holiday in America for them. Seems a bit of "giving up" moment in their career and deciding not to fight for their place and just go to a club where they can find it easy and relive their good ol' days... if they had any lol | | | | | 13-02-08, 08:41 PM | #4 (permalink) | | Scout For FMF's DB Update Join Date: Jun 2007 Location: Mississauga, near Toronto Posts: 1,596 Thanks: 210 Thanked 215 Times in 177 Posts | trust me, the weather isnt that much better if youre in Canada or central/northern US - right now we have 25cm of snow on the ground but back on topic, good replies, keep them coming :) | | | | 15-02-08, 02:03 AM | #5 (permalink) | | Important First Team Player Join Date: Nov 2007 Location: Basingstoke Posts: 708 Thanks: 81 Thanked 114 Times in 107 Posts | its stupid they aint playing football for the sport anymore they are doing it for a holiday and for the money, you should do what sheringham done .. hes ancient but stayed in english football,, beckham just wants the fame of hollywood and all that malarky because of his stickinsect of a wife :) | Current Game: Arsenal (2012/2013) 2007/2008: 3rd In Premiership, League Cup Winner & Champions League Winner 2008/2009:1st In Premiership, World Club Championship Winner & Super Cup Winner 2009/2010: 1st In Premiership, League Cup Winners, FA Cup Winners 2010/2011: 1st In Premiership, Champions League Winner & Community Shield Winner 2011/2012: 1st In Premiership, Super Cup, FA Cup, World Club Championship | | | 15-02-08, 02:20 AM | #6 (permalink) | | Scout For FMF's DB Update Join Date: Jun 2007 Location: Mississauga, near Toronto Posts: 1,596 Thanks: 210 Thanked 215 Times in 177 Posts | beckham wanted that - theres just no other reason he would come juan pablo angel also did that, he kinda resurrected his career too I dont know if you know this but in MLS players are owned by the league, not by the clubs, so the league pays most of the wages in MLS theres a salary cap, that way no team can run into financial trouble and no team will pay too much but there is a DESIGNATED PLAYER, whos wage until the cap will be paid for by the league, and the rest will be paid for by the team David Beckham, Juan Pablo Angel etc. are all like that Abel Xavier, Danny Dichio, Ronnie O'Brien (maybe the Irish people on here know him) arent such players, so its obvious they came here as a normal transfer - to get more playing time, to become a better player not just to finish off their careers when they cant even run (not angel, i mean only beckham), let alone play well - and get paid millions | | | | 15-02-08, 02:29 AM | #7 (permalink) | | Important First Team Player Join Date: Nov 2007 Location: Basingstoke Posts: 708 Thanks: 81 Thanked 114 Times in 107 Posts | but beckham could of easily gone to a premiership side and got played regulary football, but chose 2 goto U.S.A coz its the easiest way out | Current Game: Arsenal (2012/2013) 2007/2008: 3rd In Premiership, League Cup Winner & Champions League Winner 2008/2009:1st In Premiership, World Club Championship Winner & Super Cup Winner 2009/2010: 1st In Premiership, League Cup Winners, FA Cup Winners 2010/2011: 1st In Premiership, Champions League Winner & Community Shield Winner 2011/2012: 1st In Premiership, Super Cup, FA Cup, World Club Championship | | | 22-02-08, 05:44 PM | #8 (permalink) | | Backup To The First Team Join Date: Dec 2007 Posts: 171 Thanks: 26 Thanked 28 Times in 25 Posts | Beckham moved for the money and according to him to help promote football in the US. So wouldnt worry plus if the prem can get there games aboard the MLS clubs wont have any fans and go bust there all be supporting english clubs anyway that will stop them coming over | | | | | 22-02-08, 08:46 PM | #10 (permalink) | | Used In Squad Rotation Join Date: Aug 2006 Posts: 432 Thanks: 26 Thanked 51 Times in 38 Posts | Nothing wrong with it, what is wrong is the fact they probably get loads more than the players that have been there for a while. | natural (adj.)
