Lightbulb Sunday Debate

All our leagues here in Europe have been using a transfer window for a few years now, and I was wondering what you think.
I personally think the transfer window is a good idea, by making clubs think in the long term, not just a quick fix. But I also think there is a bad side. Only having a short period of time to buy players has resulted in larger squads, and more players from abroad, which inturn, pushes youth players further down the pecking order.

So what do you think? Is the transfer window making our youth players dissapear, or does it encourage common sense? Can it be improved?

i think that we should have 1 transfer window a season, scrap the jan window, and they arent destroying english youth, it is english teams that are doing that by not choosing to invest in english youth. look at spain, italy, france for example, they are creating brilliant youngsters every year and they all get 1st team oppurtunities. only a few english ones of similar stature come to mind, e.g micah richards, nicky shorey, wayne rooney. for Roma we have a fair few more than most of the top clubs in england, especially arsenal, chelsea. we have okaka, aquiliani, virga, cerci. whereas clubs like chelsea and arsenal havent due to money/foreign manager situations.

if you get any of that let me know :P lols

Good point, so mabey its the coaches what are the problem, think the next debate will be about forigen player limits. I agree with scrapping the january window, let teams stretch their squads i say!

Transfer windows are good because there is increased competition for certain players and as fed said there are other teams in other leagues who have good youth coming in.
