Default The pompey challenge

i know that a lot of people are already trying this but im gonna alter it a bit. Your challenge is to get pompey into europe and win the UEFA Cup or The Champions league and the premiership within 5 years. there are no rules except you cannot cheat.

if anyone completes the challenge a screenshot of it would be nice to prove you havent cheated at all.

if anyone would like to make this challenge better than they are welcome to change it about a bit.:croc:

also could everyone post thier progress so we can see how you are all doing

cheers

so here we are another season with the mighty pompey pre-season went well beating milan 2-0 was the highlight.

on to the first game of the new season then saturday 12th august 2006 wigan at home.

many would have thought this was a banker including me o how i was wrong, wigan came out all guns blazing and soon took the lead after 8mins, half time couldn't come quick enough for me. But after a stern talking to a half time and a tactical change we set about it, shot after shot rained down on the wigan goal with no joy, then out of the blue a poor back pass and mitea was there for the equaliser 90th min. so a draw to start our new campain not bad i suppose. We need to get better fast though Man Utd our next fixture, and at old trafford:(

Match day two
Wednesday 16th August 2006
Man Utd vs Portsmouth at Old Trafford

After our disappointing draw at home to wigan on the opening day this was going to be a tough one, i couldn't rearly see us getting anything from this so i decided damage limitation was the key.
The game started brightly for both sides but at half time it was 0-0. A quick word of encouragement in the lads ear and away we went, soaking up everything that came our way and then in the 65th min the moment all pompey fans had been waiting for, the introduction of Fred. Straight away his skill on the ball was for all to see, then 75mins gone Fred one on one with the keeper fluffed his lines and buried his shot into the stands, much to the cheers of the Old Trafford faithful. Everything was going great until edmilson brought giggs in the box (must have bunged the ref as no way was it a pen). So there we were 85th min jimenez vs gordon, up he step and SAVED gordon low down to his left. We were content we a draw until davis was given to much time on the ball and scored in the 90th min.

so not a bad start to the new season 4 points after two games, already looking forward to the next game Everton at home.

thanks for taking the time to read just a little bit of my pompey experiance and i hope it inspires you all to take on the pompey challenge.

Scholesy18 over and out:)

After an abismal game against Birmingham at home, I've hit form! Good results against Boro (A) and a lucky '85 minute winner against West Ham (H) means I've slowly climbed up the table!

There is no way I can see myself winning the league, but aslong as I finish above 9th (my position last season I'll be happy.

I qualified for Europe last season after finishing runners-up to Chelsea in the FA Cup Final and here is my group! It looks like a group of death...But with the likes of Fred, Kameni & Maduro in my squad I think I can qualify and push on to the latter stages...But we'll have to wait and see...

Lastly, here is my squad as requested by Quinby!

Play Up Pompey!

Well...I am SHOCKED!

Although being 11th in the league, in the FA Cup, qualified for the knockout stage for the UEFA Cup and a month away from playing Levski Sofia in the 1st Rnd...

Gutted!!

Default Season 1: 20th September 2006

First match, at home against Man Utd. A full Fratton Park and a first difficult match for Pompey. But Pompey showed that they are not afraid of any club and played with passion and fire. Pompey scored the 1-0 but that party only lasted two minutes coz Saha made it all square and that was also the end result.

Away match against Liverpool. Don't want to spend too much time talking about this match. We were even opponents until David James decided to make a giant mistake to believe he was Ronaldinho and could dribble past two man.

First easy match and the first victory, at home against Watford. Danny Shitty with an own goal!

Also the first away win against Charlton. Darren Best received a red card early in the match but it took Pompey till the 94th minute before sub Carlos Martins scored a free kick. For 20 minutes, Pompey was playing with two defenders and the last 5 minutes with only one.

Another easy home victory against Reading. Only bad thing to say about this match is that Reading scored a penalty, caused by a unnecessary tackle by Latka.

Pompey showed that the team is growing and growing. Especially the midfield who got much more control over the oponent then the first couple of matches. Jonathan Blondel was the star of this match with an assist and lot of key passes. The 21-years old AMLC proved that he has got a bright future. It also seemed that Ivica Mornar lost his place in the first team and maybe even on the bench. He played 30 minutes but did everything wrong what a player can do wrong and even the Pompey crowd was waving with white tissues.
