The romanians began the brighter side and would have taken the lead had it not been from some fantastic saves from goalkeeper Chris Kirkland. England also had chances with Michael Owen and Steven Gerrad missing some shots. In the second half England began the more confident side and they were rewarded when on the 56th minute captain David Beckham smashed home a 30 yard free kick. England continued to dominte but failed to find the net until the 90th minute when substitute Carlton Cole scored through a break away. | | | | | 10-10-07, 03:22 PM | #23 (permalink) | | Important First Team Player Join Date: Aug 2007 Location: Dublin :D Posts: 857 Thanks: 32 Thanked 195 Times in 119 Posts Nominated 0 Times in 0 Posts TOTW/F/M Award(s): 0 | great story keep up the good work m8 | | | | 10-10-07, 05:19 PM | #24 (permalink) | | Decent Youngster Join Date: Aug 2007 Posts: 22 Thanks: 0 Thanked 0 Times in 0 Posts Nominated 0 Times in 0 Posts TOTW/F/M Award(s): 0 | Merson Happy with First Games Following his first two England games, the boss Clive Merson said that he was happy after England managed to beat Belgium 2-0 in a friendly and Romania 2-0 in a Euro 2008 qualifier.
