Torino went to match against Lazio as clear-cut favourites, but it wasn't to be as easy. Lazio was in good form this season and sat 3rd in table after 12 games played. Cedric Konan and Markus Eskilsson were still sitting out, but Alexandre Bonnet was put into bench for this match. It was the visiting side who got off the better start, but Jose Pablo Guerrero low shot was parried away by Marcelo Grohe as the cross was delivered by Valon Behrami. Guerrero and Lazio were looking good, but the striker headed free-kick of Cristian Ledesma just over the bar and Tommaso Rocchi blasted wide from 25 meters out. Lazio dominated the start, but more the game went on, Torino started to have a say and first chance was very close to a goal. Riccardo Montolivo's set piece found Rolando Bianchi few meters out, but the striker managed to head the ball miles over, incredible miss for the Serie A third best goalscorer. Matthieu Bodmer turned around to shoot over the bar, but Torino got some bad news minutes later. Rolando Bianchi had to limp off with a twisted ankle and Alexis Sanchez replaced him. This was the last of first half action and second half took a wile to start. Elvis Abbruscato headed ball forward to Sanchez in box, but the Chilean saw his shot saved. Following corner saw Daniele Bonera also getting a header, but it flew over. Alexandre Bonnet came on for Alessandro Rosina in a risky move by Tanel Tursk, but it seemed like Torino was taking the reigns completely in this match when Alexis Sanchez was saved near post when he took down Gabriel Tamas long ball. Riccardo Montolivo shot wide on 73rd minute and then another unexpected change brought in Simone Padoin for Silva who wasn't on his usual this match. Though all the risks paid off with fabulous goal from Alexis Sanchez. The forward went on a fabulous run from his own half when he got a pass from Montolivo, took the ball past two defenders and then lofted the ball over the closing down goalkeeper Libis Arenas. Certainly it was a sign of what was to come from this young player in future as he had scored a fine individual effort against Barcelona on Tuesday aswell. Torino didn't look back and went for more, but Gabriel Tamas saw his free-kick barely tipped for corner by Arenas. Sanchez went on another mazy run with pass from Abbruscato, but one on one was saved and when he finally did get his second with a half volley over Arenas, he was correctly denied by linesman as he was offside. Torino got a second on 88th minute though, Marco Andreolli threw the ball to substitute Alexandre Bonnet and French U21 international made most of it, taking the ball past one as he cut into the box and smashed a fabulous curling effort into the top corner of Lazio goal. Gabriel Tamas made the scoreline even more embarrassing for Lazio, his free-kick flew under the bar from 25 meters as it was too high for jump of Arenas. 3-0 it ended and Torino showed again what they are made of, stunning victory over 3rd place Lazio, three great goals and two of them from young substitutes. Torino: 1-Marcelo Grohe; 4-Marco Andreolli, 5-Gabriel Tamas, 22-Daniele Bonera, 6-Marco Pisano; 7-Simone Barone, 8-Silva (74' 12-Simone Padoin); 10-Alessandro Rosina (61' 15-Alexandre Bonnet), 16-Riccardo Montolivo; 9-Rolando Bianchi (39' 21-Alexis Sanchez), 19-Elvis Abbruscato Cautioned : None Other Results Catania 0:0 Parma Chievo 3:1 Palermo Empoli 0:0 Siena Fiorentina 0:0 Brescia Genoa 0:1 Inter Milan 3:0 Sampdoria Livorno 0:0 Roma Udinese 3:0 Napoli Torino Position: 1st Visit Torino Channel FM at YouTube | | | | | 01-09-07, 09:13 AM | #282 (permalink) | | Used In Squad Rotation Join Date: Nov 2006 Posts: 366 Thanks: 74 Thanked 3 Times in 1 Post | Triestina - Torino 26th of November 2008 Nereo Rocco, Trieste Coppa Italia 2008/2009; Round 1; Leg 2 5' Riccardo Allegretti, 9' Danilo Cassandra - 37' Yves Moukouri, 61' Lasse Qvist Torino had a very bad start to Coppa Italia match against Triestina, but bounced back with goals from Yves Moukouri and Lasse Qvist and advanced to the next round. Torino went to Trieste with two-nil lead and played young prodigy's and substitute bench again, for debut, manager Tanel Tursk had called up young 16-year old wing-striker Enrico Bizzarri and on bench Eduardo Leguizamon was waiting for a game. Yves Moukouri, who scored both goals in first leg, was also playing. Start was catastrophic for young Torino side, Riccardo Allegretti free-kick from 25 meters curled brilliantly towards the top corner where it bounced into the goal. And more was to follow from Triestina, Beto pass found Danilo Cassandra, who took the ball past Leandro Del Bosco before blasting it to the top corner and game was back on level terms. Stefano Sorrentino in Torino goal had to save them from even more embarrassment when a shot from tough angle was almost deflected in. Federico Roupolo shot over from 20 meters, but Torino then got it's game going as Gianluca Comotto's deep cross was deflected into the path of Moukouri who finished off with a low shot at near post. Moukouri then was a deliverer where Oskitz Estefania header was brilliantly saved at far post. Simone Padoin shot over from 20 meters before teams went to half-time. In worry of not getting the result, Tursk brought in more experienced youngsters and first teamers Lasse Qvist & Alexandre Bonnet. Triestina got the first chance of the half, but Cassandra managed to shoot wide in one on one opportunity. At other end Antonio Di Natale made a great run, but Bonnet header at far post bounced off the bar and Qvist follow-up shot was saved. Roupolo's effort from 20 meters went wide and Marco Pisano was brought in by Torino. Di Natale had been quiet in first half but got the game going in second and his cross found the head of Qvist, but the Danish international shot wide. Minute later game was 2-2 with a fantastic effort from Qvist, Di Natale pass found him in middle of the park where the 21-year old blasted a fantastic banana shot into the top corner from 28 meters. Padoin surprising try from 30 meters almost caught Triestina goalkeeper off guard, but he managed to punch it over and two efforts from Jan Johansen were saved before game ended. Triestina became only the second team to not lose against Torino this season, but still have to go out as Torino face Milan in next round thriller. "I'll resign after this game." - these are the words of Tanel Tursk ahead of the game with Juventus. Legendary manager has cancer. The announcement came as a shock to all of Turin and football world. Manager, who is hailed one of the best ever, is suffering from lung cancer. "I discovered it just couple of weeks ago. Only few persons, including president Cairo and Rosina, knew about it. I've never felt so sad in my life, it's a step I had to take for my own and teams sake," he stated. Manager, who surprisngly got Torino their first title in more than 30 years, has been hailed as god in Turin with Torino becoming a new superpower of football with little money thanks to his wisdom. This year, the magical side of his has won all it's games in Serie A and only lost once in all competitions, to Barcelona. "His tactical skill are second to none", said former Italy manager Marcello Lippi just few weeks before. "He has done amazing job in Torino, in every possible way. I've never seen such side that has created so good balance in the team. Torino attacks with such skill, numbers, pace and versatility while they don't give away much in defence. He has built such versatile team, they can face anyone, because they can adapt to any style of play, quick, slow, in air, on ground and so on." "I won't be gone. I want my assistant manager Antoine Rodriguez to take over the reigns in here. He knows my project, my ideology and he thinks the way I think. This decision isn't the end of Grande Torino. Antoine will carry it on the same way I did and I'll be here to support him as much as possible," told Tursk in conference. Former U Cluj manager and Champions League winning manager also stated that tomorrow they will beat Juventus the way Torino has never beat them. | | | | | 06-09-07, 05:06 PM | #284 (permalink) | | Used In Squad Rotation Join Date: Nov 2006 Posts: 366 Thanks: 74 Thanked 3 Times in 1 Post | Juventus - Torino 30th of November 2008 Delle Alpi, Turin Italian Serie A 2008/2009, Week 14 3' Elvis Abbruscato, 6' Alexis Sanchez, 20' 29' Simone Barone, 87' (Pen) Antonio Di Natale Match Highlights (6:35) Night of opposite emotions as Torino crush Juventus 5:0, but the match is overshadowed by resignal of Tanel Tursk as he leaves in tears. Long-awaited Juventus - Torino derby was suddenly off the front page yesterday when Granata manager, the great Tanel Tursk, announced that he'll retire with lung cancer after this game. He wanted to leave the managerial post on a high note with this game and promised a great display to the fans. Rolando Bianchini and Cedric Konan couldn't pay their last game under his guidance, but Alexis Sanchez got the chance due to Bianchi injury. Torino got off to the start they wished, Riccardo Montolivo free-kick found Elvis Abbruscato unguarded as the strikers quick movements set him free of any defender before banging a powerful shot through between hands of Gianluigi Buffon. Players were desperate to give Tursk a goodbye he'll never forget and three minutes later Simone Barone pass found Elvis Abbruscato, who got rid of the defender, but his fabulous powerful curling shot from edge of the area bounced back off the post. Luckily Sanchez was right there to tap it in, 6 minutes gone and Torino was 2:0 up. Sanchez tried a hard volley, but his shot from tough angle didn't even go close to the net before Torino grabbed a third. Sanchez was involved with his cross getting deflected into the path of Simone Barone whose half-volley from 13 meters found the bottom near corner of Buffon's goal. Juventus got their first chance on 21st minute when Valeri Bojinov through pass caught Torino defence off the guard and Giampaolo Pazzini got his feet in, but Marcelo Grohe was there to deny it. On 29th minute, Torino got the fourth goal, very similiar to third goal. Riccardo Montolivo crossed form the left, ball took a little deflection and Simone Barone got ahead of Manuele Blasi to half-volley the ball into the same place he had before. Game calmed down for about 10 minutes, but then Marcelo Grohe had to prove an absolutely outstanding save on Marco Marchionni as the midfielder was left free on edge of the area, Brazilian goalkeeper amazingly got his hand to the ball despite being slightly out of the goal and Bojinov follow-up was blocked by Gabriel Tamas. Tamas soon took the captain's arm band as Alessandro Rosina limped off the pitch. With great round of applause, Rosina asked for another armband to give to Tamas as he put the one he had wore to the hand of Tursk. Torino went to the half-time break with 4:0 lead against Juventus and were offering a great goodbye for Tursk. After the break, Mauro Camoranesi broke into the area, but shot over with no-one even close to him. Bacary Sagna cross found Valeri Bojinov for a header, but Grohe got his fingertips to it. Then even better chance followed for Juventus. Valeri Bojinov was saved one on one. Manuele Blasi got a follow-up shot, but Daniele Bonera made a fantastic acrobatic block to keep the ball from going towards the net and Camoranesi low shot was deflected low towards near post where it was easy catch for Grohe. Lasse Qvist replaced Alexis Sanchez and Gianluca Comotto came on for Marco Andreolli before Simone Barone shot his free-kick over the bar. There was one more goal to come, Elvis Abbruscato received the ball in his own half, went on an amazing diagonal run past three Juventus players before being tripped in the box by Alessio Tacchinardi. Referee pointed to the spot, but was light on Tacchinardi even when it should've been red for a last-man foul. Antonio Di Natale stepped up and converted it without big problems and opened up a shirt that he pointed towards Tursk: "Thanks for making our dreams come true." There was one last chance for Juventus, but Bojinov shot over from central position as final whistle ended with 5:0 win for Torino on board, probably the most emotional derby win ever. As the final whistle blew, Tanel Tursk and lot of the fans burst into tears as the manager went to thank the fans in the stands after the game. Encouraging his assistant manager Antoine Rodriguez to continue the project, he leaves the club in best possible shape, only wins in league and qualification to 1st knock-out stage of Champions League. I was originally planning on ending it after the end of the season. But ofcourse, like usually, came 1st of September. Time-wise I could continue it and finish it, but I feel like this is a tough burden to carry. As I said, I've got enough time to complete it before FM08 and that's why it was so tough decision. Last weeks there has been rather little updates because I'm a bit tired to write, I just want to play the game. I was discussing it with myself whether to continue or not and as conclusion, I came to a very tough decision. I could've tried to continue, but if it was going to be like last week or two, that I play two games and then I have to wait around few days and not play before I could bother to write the update. I obviously knew I was going to have less time to write with school starting, but in end of summer, I got the schedule all wrong and by 1st of September I was excepting myself to be at a point where there should be CL quarter-finals so I could finish the story within September. It was great two and a half seasons to write with around 250 updates. I've completely fell addicted to this game and I loved every game I played. Espescially this season. I was winning all the time and I loved it. I got my side to play amazing football. These tactics I made for third season are the best I've ever come up with. In my eyes, this tactic is absolutely perfect. I have the best defence and attack in league by a mile and well-deservedly, I have such versatile team which can play any style of football. And they never let me down. I guess the only request I can make is that this thread is kept open. I'm still continuing the game and I want to update people once in a while on how I'm doing. Thanks for great support, it was true fun to write it, record the highlights knowing that there were people out there who were eager to find out what was to happen next for this great Torino side. Eventhough I didn't reach the 500 posts (In Susie) I wanted, I feel like this is my best story ever. And also, another sad thing for me is that I probably won't return to story writing for a long time. I'll try to stay around the story scene and guide people if needed. I will definitely want to write more and stay alert for the future. Thanks." | | | | | | The Following 2 Users Say Thank You to Tanel For This Useful Post: | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
