Torino was in all sorts of problems going to the match, Elvis Abbruscato was put onto bench despite injury troubles he was having, Marco Pisano and Alessandro Rosina were banned alongside manager Tanel Tursk as assistant manager Antoine Rodriquez took over. Though there were also positive news as Simone Barone was on bench after recovering from broken leg earlier this season in UEFA Cup against Aalborg. Milan got the first chance of the game already on first minute when Kaka's cheeky pass flew over defenders for fellow Brazilian Ricardo Oliveira, but another Brazilian, goalkeeper Marcelo Grohe, brilliantly closed down and saved the low shot. And two minutes later Roberto Stellone earned a free-kick at the other end which he brilliantly curled in from 25 meters out and put Torino ahead. Pirlo's free-kick at near post was caught by Grohe, but Milan had a penalty claim as Oliveira claimed himself to be pushed by Marco Andreolli in the area when fighting for Andrea Barzagli's free-kick. Milan didn't need a penalty though as Andreolli headed the ball for corner and Pirlo curled it far over the players into the path of Arne Friedrich who brilliantly struck the ball to far post 15 metres from the net. Silva got a yellow-card before Dida made a brilliant flying reaction save on Roberto Stellone's header from penalty spot as Marco Andreolli had delivered a fine cross from deep. Pirlo got another free-kick which he curled over and Gabriel Tamas saw his shot deflected into the path of Cacau who was denied by fantastic Dida at near post. Pirlo's set pieces were dangerous and Alberto Gilardino's header was saved by Grohe under the bar. This was the last of first half as Andrea Mei came on for Cecilio Velazquez at half-time and Simone Padoin moved to left-back while Gabriel Tamas took his position in central midfielder. Tamas was having an usually good match and got very close to scoring, but his free-kick from 28 meters out flew just over the top corner. After nearly 25 minutes of no events on pitch, Torino brought on Abbruscato and Barone, the later playing for the first time since October. Oliveira combined nicely with Kaka and dribbled his way past Schiavi before seeing his central shot tipped over by Grohe. Nikola Lazetic limped off with an injury, leaving Torino with ten men for final 15 minutes. It didn't seem to trouble Torino right away as Silva, one of the seven Brazilians to play on this afternoon, curled his free-kick to the side net from the edge of the area. Though then Milan started dominating and Torino had to thank the lack of composure of Milan players as Clarence Seedorf, Goran Pandev and Alberto Gilardino all missed good opportunities, the later hitting wide from five meters after a brilliant pass from Seedorf. With Sampdoria drawing, the gap with second remained four points for Granata, but Inter beat Juventus and now is also tied with Sampdoria and Roma who beat Torino's next opponent Udinese. Fresh from two games without a win, Torino was set to have a tough away trip to Udine as they met the local side Udinese with Simone Barone back in the starting line-up with Tanel Tursk returning to the bench and Elvis Abbruscato to the first team from week break. Alessandro Rosina and Marco Pisano continued to carry bans and another worry came after Milan game as Lazetic was diagnosed with ankle trouble and will be out until the final match of the season. Torino got the better start as brilliant move saw Silva pass opening up opportunity for Elvis Abbruscato, but striker saw his effort saved. Roberto Stellone's follow-up was blocked and Barone's header took a deflection of a defender and fell into goalkeepers hands. Though that triple opportunity proved decisive as minutes later Gyan Asamoah sent Barreto on a run as the Brazilian skinned Simone Padoin before finishing the ball low into far corner. And two minutes later Udinese was 2:0 up as Anotino D'Agostino's pass gave an opportunity to Schumacher and the attacking midfielder blasted the ball into far top corner from 15 meters. Udinese continued to dominate after quick goals on 8th and 10th minute, but Schumacher shot over after he had turned around Raffaele Schiavi. Gyan Asamoah went past Toro defence with his pace, but was denied one on one by Marcelo Grohe while Rio Mavuba shot over from similiar opportunity. Torino finally got a say in the game when Gabriel Tamas found Elvis Abbruscato with a clearance and the marksman went through on a nice run and passed the ball to Roberto Stellone in front of the goal, but Stellone couldn't hit it properly and the place landed in the arms of Udinese goalkeeper. This mistake was the last one Torino could afford as minutes later Barreto brilliantly controled the ball in the area before slotting it through to D'Agostino who had no problems finishing off between the post and body of Grohe. This was last of the first half as broken Torino decided to bring in Cecilio Velazquez, Cedric Konan and Claudio De Sousa against this Udinese side going for 4th victory from last five matches. Silva shot his free-kick over and Elvis Abbruscato headed Velazquez deep standard kick into the side net. Asamoah saw his header from Djuric free-kick caught on near post by Grohe. Elvis Abbruscato headed another cross from Velazquez over from 8 meters as Silva saw his free-kick saved brilliantly. Simone Barone almost managed to bring a smile to faces of Torino fans, when his half volley was brilliantly denied by Udinese goalkeeper with Marco Andreolli giving the short pass. From following Antonio Di Natale corner, Cedric Konan hit the crossbar with his diving header. Zlatan Muslimovic shot from 25 meters was brilliantly directed wide by Grohe and it was the last of the highlight action of the afternoon. Loss cut Torino's lead at the top of the table to half as Inter is now second after winning Milan in derby, Sampdoria third with a loss to Fiorentina, Roma fourth with a loss to Atalanta and Juventus fifth with a loss to Chievo. And it seems truly that the later of challengers is out of the title race with 8 points separting them from city rivals. Torino was in desperate need for a victory against rivals Atalanta who had to make a short trip to Turin. After getting one point from last three games, Torino couldn't offer more loss of points as the Scudetto challengers were really breathing down the Granata neck. Simone Barone received another start, but Alessandro Rosina, Andrea Pisano and Nikola Lazetic were on sidelines once more on this fine April evening. Silva sent a brilliant pass into the area to Roberto Stellone after receiving a cleared header, but the striker saw his shot denied by full-stretch Alex Calderoni. Nicola Ventola headed wide from nearly edge of the area from Stephen Dalmat's cross while Derlei's free-kick curled over from 20 meters. Schiavi's awful marking almost cost Torino a goal as he allowed Nicola Ventola get free with the ball and only pressure from Gabriel Tamas made Ventola blast the ball over one on one with Marcelo Grohe. Though then Torino got it's machine going and Roberto Stellone headed free-kick of Antonio Di Natale from left side into the far top corner. Two minutes later Granata added another one and it was truly super effort from Elvis Abbruscato, the striker skinned two opponent defenders after receiving a pass from Nicolae Mitea in middle of the pitch and sent a low finish into the goal as the ball bounced in from post. Silva almost got a third, but his shot from 25 metres out started falling too late and went just over the far post with Alex Calderoni out of the 6-yard box. Marco Andreolli missed a header and allowed Nicola Ventola to shoot a half-volley from edge of the area which luckily for Torino flew over the bar. Claudio De Sousa and Stefano Fiore joined the game as substitutes for Stellone and Mitea and Torino scored four minutes later. Silva brilliantly spotted Abbruscato and set him through on a run. The striker got closed down by Calderoni, but the second ball flew to Silva whose shot got deflected into the path of Simone Barone who tapped the ball into empty net and scored for the first time since breaking his leg in October 2007. Barone's goal sparked off big goal celebrations at Olimpico Andreolli's long ball found De Sousa, but the youngster couldn't score his first ever Serie A goal as his shot flew straight into the arms of Calderoni. Stefano Fiore had to go off with an injury just 10 minutes after coming on and Cedric Konan came on for him as Dalmat had the final chance of the match, but he shot just wide of the near post from outside of the area. Torino got a well-deserved 3:0 win and despite not being on scoreline, it was fair to say that it was largely thanks to midfield talent Silva who was in center of absolutely everything Torino did, making fantastic tackles, giving vital passes, showing true Brazilian brilliance with his neat technical skills and getting an assist for Barone goal. Win also made sure that the Scudetto race will probably be between Inter and Torino as Sampdoria and Fiorentina both drew and Juventus continues to be 8 points behind. Torino was struggling with lack of wingers and due to injuries of Nicolae Mitea, Nikola Lazetic and Stefano Fiore, Alessandro Rosina had to play in right wing where he may also play next season as Tanel Tursk doesn't want to bench neither Simone Barone or Silva. Though he did made a brave decision in this Sunday afternoon, after sitting most of the season on bench and without any serious Serie A game under his belt, Tursk brought in experienced Marco Di Loreto for the final matches of the season as he was said to be disappointed with Raffaele Schiavi's form as of late. Alessandro Pisano and Rosina had returned from suspension due to their red cards in game against Juventus. Bologna got their first chance of first minute already as Manquoba Ngwenya shot wide from a quick counter-attack as he was served with the opportunity by Tsvetan Genkov. At the other end, Rosina's low cross found Elvis Abbruscato who saw his shot from tough angle saved. Two mines later Simone Barone sent Roberto Stellone on a run with a brilliant through pass but the striker went down after Alessandro Birindelli had tugged his shirt. With ex-Juventus defender being the last man, referee Domenico Messina sent the veteran off. And if things couldn't get any worse for Bologna, Alessandro Rosina's free-kick took a slight deflection off the wall that helped the ball to land at the far post with goalkeeper Rami Shaaban having no chance. Rosina promised to make back for his horrible red card against Juventus and started off on right foot Torino continued to dominate as Silva's fabulous pass found Elvis Abbruscato who easily went through the hole between defenders, but got denied brilliantly by finger tips of Shaaban. Barone found Rosina with a pass after a throw-in had been taken as the attacking midfielder fooled one Bologna defender before shooting a low shot wide of the far post from 23 meters out. Silva gave another great pass to Torino forwards as Stellone played the ball to Abbruscato who made a little run before hitting the bar one on one with Shaaban. Barone got the ball from following throw-in, took on two Bologna players, but shot the ball into the side net at near post. Antonio Di Natale lost the header for Nikola Lazetic cross, but the clearance fell to Marco Pisano whose curling effort from edge of the area was brilliantly tipped wide by Shaaban. The Swedish goalkeeper didn't have much to do minutes later though when Bologna defenders did the work for him, blocking shots from Roberto Stellone and Di Loreto. From following corner, Barone headed over. Silva was at middle of everything Torino did after receiving huge praise for his performance against Atalanta and another great pass saw him set up another opportunity for Abbruscato, but the Rome-born marksman could only hit it at Shaaban under pressure from two defenders. Torino soon paid it's price for wasting tons of chances as Gabriel Tamas clearance fell to Molino who passed the ball to Tsvetan Genkov whose powerful effort went in despite being straight at Marcelo Grohe as the Brazilian could only punch the ball under the bar. Minutes later Torino seemed to get another chance for victory handed to them on golden plate when Silva's brilliant technical abilities took him past two players before he passed the ball to Stellone who was blatantly taken down by Franz Bertin who was showed red for his two-footed tackle as Stellone would've gone through otherwise. Rosina shot the free-kick over and this was the last chance of action-packed first half. Torino didn't make any substitutions, but still find the back of the net. Silva seemed to be at the top of everything as he was forced back to his own half by Bologna midfielders, but the Brazilian still made the most of it, sending a long ball down the wing to Antonio Di Natale whose cross was amazingly shot wide by Stellone from not too far from goal. Bologna got a rare chance when Sebastien Romero was in the end of long Molina pass, but his shot from 25 meters out was wide of the far post. Cedric Konan and Simone Padoin joined the game before Marco Andreolli was shown a yellow card which leaves him out of next league game with Napoli. Silva combined well with Cedric Konan to set up great opportunity for fresh Padoin, but the midfielder couldn't do more from outside of the area than shoot the ball meters wide of the goal, despite having no-one urging him to hit the ball. Stellone shot the ball over top corner as he turned in box after receiving free-kick from Alessandro Rosina. Torino just couldn't score and even Silva's fabulous effort from 30 meters out after brilliant run down the center was tipped out of top corner by Rami Shaaban having his dream game. Torino eventually gave up and were lucky not to lose the game when Grohe cleared up his own mistake by saving Massimo Ambrosini's header after he had bit stupidly come out of his goal. Despite the draw, Torino remains at the position one with two point lead as Inter had 2:2 result with Atalanta, but Sampdoria got into dangerous four point distance with a 2:1 win over Lazio. Torino was in tough situation with just one win from last five games and they were desperate to get back on track against Napoli who had ended long winning streak of Granata in early January. Alessandro Rosina encouraged the Torino lads before the match to give all they could despite problems with missing players. Nicolae Mitea, Marco Andreolli, Cecilio Velazquez, Stefano Fiore and Cristiano Lupatelli sat out with young Swedish goalkeeper Markus Eskilsson called up to the first team. Nikola Lazetic returned to be on bench after premature recovery from ankle injury. It was Rolando Zarate who got the first chance of the match though, but his shot from Matteo Paro pass was central and flew over Marcelo Grohe's goal. Antonio Di Natale gave a fine cross to Elvis Abbruscato at the other end, but the striker who last scored against Lazio saw his low header parried by Tim Howard. Zarate's header at the other end was followed by even better save of Grohe just minutes later as the Brazilian made a flying stop before the ball could cross the line at far post. Ten minutes later Torino went ahead, Gabriel Tamas long ball from his own half found Elvis Abbruscato on the edge of the area as the striker got past one defender before smashing a powerful shot towards the far top corner to make it 1:0. And slightly more than minute later, Alessandro Rosina's fabulous run got him past two players before his shot at near post was fantastically tipped wide by Howard. Torino though conceded three minutes after scoring, Regueiro's pass found Nelson Valdez 20 meters from goal as the Paraguayan went past Simone Padoin to send in a low finish towards far post. Tim Howard's brave play to come out of the area to clear the ball with his head almost proved costly, but Simone Barone shot the ball wide of the empty net under pressure from Napoli defender. Cristian Bucchi's effort from nearly 30 meters was acrobatically tipped over by Grohe as the teams went to half-time break all square. Nikola Lazetic came on for Simone Barone as Rosina moved to his more preferred central position behind strikers. Second half started slow with first chance coming on 68th minute. Rosina's cross created scramble in box as Silva's and Abbruscato's efforts were blocked before Stellone was denied at near post and following the situation, he was taken off for Cacau. Silva sent another one of his trademark through passes to Abbruscato, but the striker was saved one on one. Torino got the desired and deserved winner minutes half a dozen minutes later. Marco Pisano's found Alessandro Rosina free at far post as the Torino captain scored one of the most important, and probably the easiest, goals of his life as the ball flew in despite Howard getting a touch to it. Torino captain scored for second consecutive match and how important could that goal be! Torino had a chance to make it 3:1, but Silva shot was saved from central position in the box after he was brilliantly set up by Nikola Lazetic. The win put Torino four points clear at the top of the table as Bologna also got draw from Inter after drawing with Granata themselves last week. Now Nerazzurri are behind Torino alongside Sampdoria while Juventus and Roma don't have any mathematical possibility of winning the title anymore. But a win from next game would also mean title for Torino. Stefano Fiore, Nicolae Mitea, Marco Andreolli, Andrea Mei and Marco Rossi missing the game. While bench involves players like Cacau, Nikola Lazetic & Cedric Konan. Sampdoria goes with Jerzy Dudek, Guy Demal, Arruabarrena, Sala, Olsson, Brecko, Martin Petrov, Angelo Palombo, Gennaro Del Vecchio, Fabio Bazzani and Emiliano Bonazzoli in a similiar 4-4-2. They too have sevaral lads missing - Christian Terlizzi, Andrea Gasbarroni and Sergio Volpi being very important players. Inter is strong even with David Villa, Walter Samuel and Maxi Rodriquez injuried as Julio Cesar, Javier Zanetti, Fabio Grosso, Marco Materazzi, Ivan Cordoba, Dejan Stankovic, Franck Ribery, Olveir Dacourt, Patrick Vieira, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Florent Malouda plan to rip Napoli apart. Players like Crespo, Recoba and Maxwell are certainly threat from bench aswell. RD: All sides have immense line-ups without a doubt even with so many key players missing for them. You could make a decent Italy side with players from these three teams already. MM: Sure you can. It's a wild afternoon of Serie A. Battle of giants! Espescially as Napoli, Milan and Parma who are opponents aren't walkovers in no means. RD: They aren't. Napoli in end of 80's and Parma in 90's were great sides and they still have the reputation. While Milan isn't doing what they want in league, but still they got into Champions League and they won't make it easy for Sampdoria even if they rest some key players. MM: Time is ticking against us. Let's take a little break and go live to Ennio Tardini in Parma as Torino as teams are leaving dressing rooms already. | | | | | 03-08-07, 05:25 PM | #229 (permalink) | | Used In Squad Rotation Join Date: Nov 2006 Posts: 366 Thanks: 74 Thanked 3 Times in 1 Post Nominated 0 Times in 0 Posts TOTW/F/M Award(s): 0 | Serie A Week 37 Live! - First Half Fabio Caressa (FC): A great afternoon ahead of here in sunny Ennio Tardini where Torino may win the Serie A title. Your commentators are Fabio Caressa... Giuseppe Bergomi (GB): and Beppe Bergomi. GB: Teams enter the field right now. Torino in usual dark red kit and home side Parma in white and black. Beautiful weather has brought people to the stadium as it's completely sold out according to Parma's press office. FC: The line-ups are in front of you for once more as the teams make final preparations. Referee for tonight Gianluca Paparesta, while on sidelines, Parma is guided by Stefano Pioli and Torino by Tanel Tursk. *** FC: Here goes the whistle, Parma kick the ball off in packed Ennio Tardini. *** 2' GB: Corner for Torino! Rosina takes it... FC: Curled in but defenders clear! Padoin gets it and smashes back upfront. Dragutinovic misses interception. Silva gets ball by the sideline!!! Crosses... Over the goal! What a miss by Di Natale. GB: He was free in good position, just 13 meters from goal. Should have got it on goal! FC: GOAL! GB: Inter made most of Howard's very bad kick at the ball. Really lovely power and curl by Malouda as he got the pass from Vieira I think. FC: Inter now 1:0 ahead after just 2 minutes! *** 3' GB: Angelo to step up for the free-kick in middle of the park. FC: Hits it low for Kutuzov. Past one... GROHE! MARCELO! GB: Di Loreto clears it, brave play by the center-back and even more fabulous save by the Torino goalkeeper, the ball was curling in at near post, but he managed to get his body to it and keep that out! *** 4' FC: Long kick by Grohe as the ball was passed back to him. Di Natale gets it, squares to Silva. Fantastastic! Past two players! GB: Abbruscato free at far post. FC: OH!!! Silva hits the sidenetting. GB: Should've passed the ball. Abbruscato was all free at far post. No-one around. Great run, but got a little selfish like all players do. Wanted to cap it off himself obviously. *** 8' FC: GOAL! FC: Milan took the lead against Sampdoria with goal from Argentine midfielder Javier Mascherano. GB: As you can see from the replay. Really bad defensive game from Sampdoria. Bas positioning, bad marking and couldn't get the ball cleared. It fell to Mascherano who didn't have to do anything but blast it in. *** 12' FC: Rosina long ball foward. Quick attack from Toro. Abbruscato brilliantly tackled by Labaka! Ball falls to Padoin, pass to Rosina... Luca Brunoni! GB: Brunoni positioned himself right. It was good shot from distance from Rosina. He didn't shoot against any defenders and it was tough. Slightly higher and it would've been 1-0. Ball cleared. FC: Throw-in now. Rosina gives it to Padoin. Padoin back. Two have combined a lot on the wing. Rosina crosses! Di Natale free at far post! SAVED! ROBERTO! STELLONE! TORINO ARE 1:0 AHEAD! GB: He was brilliantly positioned him. Brunoni did fine save on Di Natale, but Stellone wasn't offside and could tap it in as he was left guardless. Somebody took him onside while marking Abbruscato it seems. FC: Torino 1:0 ahead at Parma through Roberto Stellone goal and that result would take them to title! FC: GOAL! FC: Sampdoria have equalized to keep pressure on Torino. Bazzani with the goal. GB: Yes, a simple tap in for a striker of his statue. Fine cross from left by Sampdoria's winger. Is it Petrov? He usually plays there. Spotted the run brilliantly. Dida had nothing to do, even if it was near post. *** 18' GB: Fine looking long ball from Labaka. FC: Cruz heads to Stefano Morrone, low pass to Morfeo... goes past Di Loreto... shoots! Miles wide! GB: Not really a text-book shot. *** 21' FC: GOAL! FC: ZLATAN IBRAHIMOVIC! Puts Inter ahead 2:0. GB: Another piece of bad defending from Napoli. Inter seems to be on cruise control. Fantastic pass from Malouda, easy goal for Zlatan far post. Howard was totally helpless. You can't make mistakes against teams like Inter. *** 25' GB: Julio Cruz unfortunately has to limp off to make life little easier for Torino. It was tough luck, the challenge was clean from Tamas, but he fell awkwardly. Feret on for him. *** 29' FC: Dragutinovic stops Torino attack with pass to Feret. GB: Silva robs the ball! FC: BRUNONI! Magical save! GB: It was. Low shot, at near post, but such pace and direction. Very hard to stop. Silva blasted it the moment he got the ball. He could've been anywhere in the goal, but he was right where needed. FC: GOAL! FC: NELSON VALDEZ takes one goal back for Napoli! 1:2 there! GB: Valdez is in great form this season and he really showed it again. Tough angle to score from, but blasted it low to far post. That's what he does the best. Most of his goals are similiar. Really knows how to aim the shot into the far post. *** 36' FC: GOAL! FC: Emanuele Calaio!!! Two - two in San Paolo stadium which is holding over 60 000 people today. GB: Fine goal! All teams seem to be bombing hard. Nice delicate finish at far post from former Pescara player if I'm not mistaken. FC: Back to Parma now. Di Natale was laying on ground for little bit of time during the Napoli goal. They now continue the game from corner. GB: Cleared again... FC: Napoli tries to attack but their tries get pushed back immediately. Now Di Natale with the ball. Brilliant pass! Stellone one on one. Parma protests for offside, referee takes none of it. Stellone run continues, round goalkeeper, ROBERTO STELLONE! 2:0 TORINO! GB: Fine finishing and true striker skills from Stellone. And a fabulous pass. It was tight decision for linesman, chose not to raise the flag. It's impossible to see whether there was a foot or hand slightly ahead of last man for Stellone, but sure he did finish well. *** 45' FC: Barone to Silva... pass takes deflection. Silva blasts at goal. Over! GB: Another fine move from Torino. They are completely all over Parma. FC: Half-time whistle, this is it for first half in Parma. | | | | | 03-08-07, 05:27 PM | #230 (permalink) | | Used In Squad Rotation Join Date: Nov 2006 Posts: 366 Thanks: 74 Thanked 3 Times in 1 Post Nominated 0 Times in 0 Posts TOTW/F/M Award(s): 0 | Serie A Week 37 Live! - Half-Time & Second Half Massimo Marianella (MM): Welcome back to the studio. What a fabulous piece of football in three games so far. Roberto Donadoni (RD): Without a doubt! All teams are going for victory. There's so much motivation, even when teams like Napoli, Milan and Parma haven't really got nothing to play for. MM: They obviously still want to mess up leaders dreams. RD: Ofcourse they do. It's always an extra motivation. To end someone's title dream. If you're mid-table it's always honour to do your best against top teams. MM: Some nice goals and open play. Espescially at Napoli. All stadiums are really packed with people, San Siro almost full in Milano, San Paolo around 10 000 short at Napoli and Ennio Tardini full. RD: Probably most Italians would see Torino win the title, unless they are either Juventus, Inter or Sampdoria fans. They play great football, they've scored most goals in league by what? 15 goals or something close to this number. MM: You could also say that those Italians are about to have a smile on their face. Maybe during next 45 minutes? RD: Seems very likely. 2:0 ahead and they are really looking good. MM: Thank you for your comments, Roberto. Now a commercial, before we'll return to Ennio Tardini. *** 45' Fabio Caressa (FC): Welcome back to Ennio Tardini, where second half is about to kick off. Parma brought in Nicolas Diez over half-time. *** 47' FC: Abbruscato to Pisano on the edge of the area... spots Rosina... Dragutinovic great tackle! Though Toro captain still picks the ball up, WIDE. Giuseppe Bergomi (GB): Just couldn't get the curl he wanted to the ball. Movement was again top class from Torino. *** 50' GB: Really sad. Padoin had a great match on the right side of defence, filling in for Andreolli who is in U21 European Championship qualifiers. Now he has to come off with injury for Raffaele Schiavi who had falled to bench for final games of season. *** 52' FC: GOAL! FC: WHAT A COMEBACK! NELSON VALDEZ PUTS NAPOLI 3:2 AHEAD! They were 0:2 down after first 20 minutes. GB: Great spirit. Saw the highlights at half-time and it's really open game. Napoli has dominated more and this fine move really got a deserved goal for them. Fabulous match in there with nice goals. *** 53' GB: Sluggish defending really, free-kick for Torino which Rosina is going to take now. FC: Rosina... BARONE! Header over bar! GB: Just centimeters away. This goal would've seriously put the game beyond doubt and so for Torino's titles. *** 55' FC: Morfeo steps up for free-kick. GB: He has scored a few in his career. FC: Hits... caught by Grohe! GB: Not much of an effort from the lost talent of Italian football. Had all the potential, but some things outside of pitch obviously seemed more interesting for him unfortunately. *** 63' FC: Abbruscato with a fine pass forward to Stellone! Goes past Ferrari.. really tough angle to shoot from now... tries! Past the far post! GB: Not really good stuff from Stellone. He did go past Ferrari and that isn't easy even when you're McLaren, but the shot was horrible. Barone was rushing in there, shouldve put the ball slowly towards center of the area. FC: Barone comes off now. With standing ovation! GB: Really tough year for him. Broke his leg in October, now he has returned and played regularly. And this was his best game since coming back. Hopefully he'll be in Euro 2008 squad for Italy. Lazetic in for him, probably means Rosina will move to position behind strikers. *** 67' FC: GOAL! FC: GREAT GOAL! GREAT GOAL FROM JAVIER MASCHERANO! HIS SECOND AND MILAN IS 2:1 AHEAD! IT'S TORINO DAY! GB: Couldn't agree more. Everything goes like Torino wants today it seems. Brilliant effort from Mascherano, powerful from outside of the area. And great move before it aswell. *** 70' FC: Rosina to Lazetic... wide. GB: Tried from 25 meters, but wasn't on target. Was tough shot in every mean. *** 73' FC: Parma attacks, Kutuzov face to face with Di Loreto. Tackled away the ball. Tamas clearance falls to Morfeo! Kutuzov free... MISSES! GB: Huge miss from Kutuzov. He was free on the edge of the area, could've moved forward, but sent the ball one meter wide. Have to do better than that, a lot better. *** 90+4' FC: Things are going like Torino wants. Domenico Morfeo bangs over from edge of the area. GB: Long ball upfront by Grohe, goes to Parma players though. Fans counting seconds to title. FC: Schiavi clears! CHAMPIONS! TORINO ARE THE CHAMPIONS OF SERIE A! Years of wait, years of pain ever since 1976. Now it's all gone! Roberto Stellone scored twice to make their dreams come true. GB: Great day for them. Absolutely great. They deserve it, especially fans for sticking with their team through-out tough times. Two years after promotion they've won the title. That's Serie A's Cinderella story! | | | | | 03-08-07, 05:28 PM | #231 (permalink) | | Used In Squad Rotation Join Date: Nov 2006 Posts: 366 Thanks: 74 Thanked 3 Times in 1 Post Nominated 0 Times in 0 Posts TOTW/F/M Award(s): 0 | Serie A Week 37 Live! - Post-Match Massimo Marianella: Scenes of joy coming in from Turin and Parma. Torino become the champions of Italy after a wait of 32 years! 8th Scudetto for them. Roberto Donadoni: It's always good to see people joying. This will hopefully be the case after this summers European Championship aswell. I'd like to congratulate Torino and Tanel Tursk for a great achievement. Torino winning the title is the best thing in last years of Serie A. MM: Did anyone impress you tonight? RD: I know all of those players well. For national team, I go to the stadiums myself. But I must say Antonio Di Natale was good with his two assists and as a great player, I've often called him up before. MM: Elvis Abbruscato? You've heard that question several times. RD: I know. He hasn't fit into the national team formation in past. I've always wanted to involve him, but don't want to ruin core of players. I will definitely make careful choice for Euro's. MM: But ofcourse it's not the moment to talk about national team. It's Torino's big day, not Italian national teams and the side has won the league this season. Well deserved I'd say. They always had that extra gear when needed, determination and heart. RD: I have to agree once more. Big season for them. I can't wait to see more of them. I know Tursk and he will definitely make the team even better. He knows what he does. MM: Thank you, it was Roberto Donadoni with us in the studio today. Hopefully you'll enjoy rest of your Sunday as there's one more round of Serie A to go. Sky Sport will now go live to Turin with Vanessa Altobelli to see the celebrations. | | | | | 03-08-07, 05:29 PM | #232 (permalink) | | Used In Squad Rotation Join Date: Nov 2006 Posts: 366 Thanks: 74 Thanked 3 Times in 1 Post Nominated 0 Times in 0 Posts TOTW/F/M Award(s): 0 | Torino is the champion of Italy!
