John Sutton, brother of Chris opened the scoring after 54mins after Barry Robson's delightful ball in which was met by the former St.Mirren striker and the ball ended up past Letizi before he knew it. Rangers pushed and pushed but yet again this season they failed to score. Rangers striker Kris Boyd admitted after the game "It's getting frustrating now that every chance we get we always seem to not put it away and i will be looking to contribute more in our next game". Saturday 14th October 2006 SPL Rangers 1-0 Inverness CT: A goal from Kris Boyd sealed all three points for Rangers this afternoon as they were close to a shock against Inverness. Boyd opened the scoring right on half-time with a tap-in after good play by Chris Burke. After the break Inverness piled on the pressure and were unlucky not to have equalised when a Graham Bayne penalty was finely saved by Rangers keeper Stefan Klos, who deputised for Lionel Letizi as he has the flu. Caley's Ross Tokely was sent off in the dying moments after a stupid foul on Filip Sebo. He doubled his tally immediatley after the restart when great vision by Sionko set up the Belgian to make it 2-0. Dunfermline's Owen Morrison headed home a tamely hit free-kick by Darren Young to make it 2-1 but Kris Boyd got his goal five minutes later with a strong finish. Buffel grabbed his hat-trick on 40mins when a missed penalty from Charlie Adam was rebounded home by Buffel. AZ created more chances in the game but if it wasn't for good goalkeeping by Letizi and poor finishing from ex-ger Shota Arveladze it would have been a hiding for the Gers. Rangers started this game with a 4-1-4-1 formation and it didn't cause any sort of problem for the visitors. At half-time though Rangers changed to a more positive 4-4-2 and that started to cause problems for AZ with Thomas Buffel smacking the post just after 75mins. Rangers had another great chance late on when substitute Nacho Novo's looping header caught the keeper of balance and defender Barry Opdam cleared off the line. Rangers Team: Letizi, Alexander, Smith, Juhasz, Rodriguez, Sionko, Adam(Ben Arfa 60), Ferguson(C), Hemdani, Buffel, Boyd(Novo 60) Other Score: Espanyol 4-0 Maccabi Haifa Monthly Awards - November: Player of the Month: Steven Fletcher(Hibs) Young Player of the Month: Aiden McGeady(Celtic) Manager of the Month: Tony Mowbray(Hibs) Saturday 2nd December 2006 SPL Scores: Aberdeen 2-4 Hibernian Celtic 4-0 Dunfermline Falkirk 3-4 Inverness CT Kilmarnock 2-0 St.Mirren Sunday 3rd December 2006 SPL Motherwell 3-2 Rangers: Rangers manager Ross Dunbar last night branded his squad of players "An Absolute disgrace" after his sides shocking 3-2 defeat to struggling Motherwell. Former Celtic man Teddy Bjarnason opened the scoring with an absolute stunning strike from 35 yards. Rangers equalised after 11mins when Charlie Adam slipped through Thomas Buffel and he applied the finish. Motherwell took the lead just before half-time when a corner whipped in by Keith Lasley was met by the SMALLEST man on the field, Scott McDonald. Rangers again equalised after 49mins when Dado Prso slotted home from the edge of the box. Motherwell took the lead for the third time when Kevin McBride was tripped by Julien Rodriguez and the former Celtic man rattled home. Rangers take on Celtic next Sunday in what could prove to be a title decider. RD: "Of course, we are competing in front of our own fans so any game is a must win." SL: "What is the confidence like in the dressing room?" RD: "It's good, the players are quite optimistic that we can get a result today and cut the gap at the top of the league." SL: "You have set out 4-4-2 what are your thoughts behind that?" RD: "Nothing really, we usually do play 4-4-2 just today though i have made a change in personal as we need a bit more hunger in the midfield today". SL: "Thanks for your time Ross" RD: "Pleasure" Rangers Team: Letizi, Alexander, Smith, Juhasz, Rodriguez, Burke, Adam, Clement, Ferguson(C), Buffel, Prso Celtic Team: Boruc, Wilson, Telfer, Balde, Caldwell, Jarosik, Nakamura, Sno, Gravesen, Vennegor of Hesselink, Miller Referee: Charlie Richmond Rangers 1-1 Celtic: Prso(16), Miller(88) Rangers dominated today's Old Firm clash but a late goal from Ex-Rangers man Kenny Miller stunned the home crowd and kept Celtic 6 points infront of Rangers. The Gers took the lead after 16mins when a missed timed jump from Artur Boruc allowed Dado Prso the chance to score and he jolly did. The rest of the first half seemed to fly in with Rangers going into the break infront but the tempo changed in the second half with the League Leaders gaining control of the game. It took Celtic nearly 43mins in the Second half to finally beat Frenchman Lionel Letizi when an Aiden McGeady cross was expertly finished off by Kenny Miller. Celtic's Evander Sno was sent off in stoppage time for allegadly pushing Rangers skipper Barry Ferguson. | |
