Arsenal were originally founded in 1886 as Dial Square by workers at the Royal Arsenal in Woolwich. They were renamed Woolwich Arsenal after turning professional and then after moving to their new home at Arsenal Stadium in Highbury in 1913 they were simply known as Arsenal having dropped the Woolwich from their name the following year. In 1925 Herbert Chapman was appointed as manager and is recognised for bringing the club its first period of success in the 1930’s due to his revolutionary tactics and his ability to secure the signings of star players. With the suspension of English professional football during the Second World War having been lifted Arsenal further developed their growing reputation with League and Cup wins. However as a club they were unable to find the form which had catapulted them to the top of the English game in the 1930's. Due to this dip in form the club failed to win any of the major trophies in the 1950’s and 60’s. Success beckoned yet again for the London club in the 1970’s as they lifted their first European trophy and secured their first League and FA Cup double in the 1970-1971 season. Again the club suffered from a loss of form in the late 1970’s and came out losers in no less than three FA Cup finals. The appointment of George Graham as manager in 1986 heralded a return to the glory days of the 1930’s for the London side and they enjoyed a period of success. However Graham’s good work and record were sensationally tarnished after it was dramatically revealed that he had accepted kickbacks from an agent for signing certain players. George Graham was duly sacked by the club in 1995. The recent success of Arsenal has been mainly down to the management style of the Frenchman Arsene Wenger who was appointed manager in 1996. A new training regime accompanied by new tactics and an injection of foreign players developed Arsenal into one of the strongest clubs in the Premiership. They famously won the title in the 2003-2004 season without losing a single match. In the 2005-2006 Arsenal reached the Champions League Final becoming the first club from London ever to do so in the competition’s history. However they were beaten 2-1 by the victorious FC Barcelona. They remain bitter rivals of fellow North Londoners and neighbours Tottenham Hotspur.

for a tactic its hard to find the right one, but i think this one is a brilliant tactic for Arsenal and should work out fine, This tactic is called 4-3-1-2 Arsenal i hope for anybody that uses this will become great, this tactic will also be good for away matches aswell.

if this does not work i would use something attacking, something which uses pace on the wings and could create lots of space, have two wingers and two attackers and see what happens!

    GK - Almunia
    DR - Sagna
    DC - Toure
    DC - Gallas
    DL - Clichy
    MR - Walcott
    MC - Fabregas
    MC - Rosicky
    ML -Nasri
    ST - Eduardo
    ST - Van Persie

That is with a 4-4-2 formation, this is just giving you a clue of the bestest line-up!

Woah Chris you're going guide mad! :-X

Don't rate Walcott high on the game, his stats aren't too great but Im sure we'll see a big difference on 09...and I saw Diaby being sold for 32mil to Milan once. Nordveit will be great when hes older and Wilshere and some other players.

I think most people who have used Arsenal will agree their only signing they need is possibly a defensive signing. I wouldn't be too surprised if Eduardo's stats lower. And isn't goalkeeper having lower eccentricity better?

    All in all good guide.
My rating: 8.5/10 - A lot of description and a very excellent guide in general.
