Default Barcelona

Barcelona

Barcelona are in Spain's top division, La Liga. They have currently won the league two years in a row under manager Frank Rijkaard. They were founding members of La Liga in 1928, and, together with Real Madrid and Athletic Bilbao, they have never been relegated from the Primera Division. The club were also the first La Liga champions and have won 2 Champions leagues. Along with that is 18 league titles, 24 copa del rey titles and many other honours. The club's main stadium is the Camp Nou and the capacity is the biggest in Europe, 98,000. The club also operates a reserve team, FC Barcelona B, a youth team FC Barcelona C which has and is producing some of Europe's top talent

Squad

Goalkeepers

Victor Valdes
Barcelona's current number one. Very strong keeper whos strengths are notably his: Reflexes (17) One on Ones (17) Communication (17) and Command of area (16). His weakest attribute is his throwing (11). Physicaly very strong and he is a very good penalty saver.

Albert Jorquera
The back-up keeper. Valdes does pick up the odd injury so this man needs to do a good job replacing. With a solid defence hopefully not to much work is needed from him although he is a good back-up.

Defenders

Carles Puyol- SW,DRC
The captain. This man is the best defender. Solid, aggressive player who is amazing at marking and tackling and trust me pops up with the odd goal. Allow him to do tight marking but be weary against fast strikers, maybe defend deep if they are unable to shoot from distance. This man puts in 100% every game

Oleguer- DRC
His stats don't show it but he is a solid back-up if needed. Versatile playing either right back or centre back. Pysicaly he is overal at a good level, but in his stats nothing really stands out.

Lilian Thuram- DRC
The most experience defender. At the age of 34 his career is aproaching and end but he will put in a good season along side Puyol. Strong but must say very slow. Brings a lot of experience to the team and can give a lot to the youngsters.

Rafael Marquez- DC,DM
Him an Puyol make a great partnership. Both similar with the tackling and marking but his downside like Thuram is he lacks pace. In Spain there are a lot of quick strikers which means he will have to tackle hard. Very good influence from being Mexico skipper could lead to spure his team on.

Edmilson- DC,DM
Good presence about this guy. Defensive midfield i feel you can get the best out of him with accurate long passes, ariel ability and also an eye for a goal. Another one who lacks pace though.

Belletti- DR,WBR
This man can either perform brilliant or terrible. Overall has good solid stats but nothing that stand out. His will to work and push forward and a perfect direct passing skill caught my eye.

Gianluca Zambrotta- DRL,WBRL,MR
Mr Versatile. Better attacking than defending but his amazing pace and stamina allows him to get back and defender quickly. He will work flat out every game so try using wing play to enjoy the best out of him

Sylvinho- DL,WBL
Another player with superb direct passing. Just like the whole Barca team fullbacks he loves pushing forward and if you can use his crossing you will have a few extra goals at the end of the year. Overall a good basic stats and perfect for back-up.

Gio Van Bronckhorst- DL,WBL
My favourite defender. He was getting a rating of 8 for me every game. An unsung hero. Another fit hardworking full back with good stamina for flat out running. Make use of his long shots (18) Stick with him and see his quality. Always the man to do last ditch tackles

Midfielders

Thiago Motta- DM
After the season goes on try using him and build up his confidence, slip him in the team and he is a rock. Another man with overall good stats but he is funnily enough better at creative than defence play. A Pirlo copy. Play him in the centre dropping off the pick up the ball and make use of his long passing but most of all his long shots

Xavi- CM
A quite player who does the job. Doesn't stand out but he creates everything. Passing is his game and does have a powerfull effort. Alow him to sit in the centre of the play and create from there. Decision making is key from him. Could be turned into an attacking midfielder also.

Ludovic Guily- AMR
A good experienced back-up who is a perfect super-sub. His amazing pace will destroy defenders. Apart from his pace the only thing else is this mans locker is a good penalty.

Ronaldinho- AMRLC
Simply the main man. He will destroy teams with his pace, creativity passing and technique. Free-kicks and penalties are his speciality and the odd 30 yarder. Very good captain why can replace Puyol in the future. If you get the best of him then you will win week after week. Star Player

Lionel Messi- AMRLC,FC
The next Maradona. The latest talent to emerge from the Barca academy. This kid is prone to the odd injury. Just like Ronaldinho his dribbling and first touch or world class and his technique also make him the perfect link up man. Like the team very determind and use on the wing to gain from his pace and flair. Future Star

Santi Ezquerro-AMRL,ST
Simply your super sub or a player to use in the cups. Didn't tend on using him but his ability in the air is key for a striker. Has good movement off the ball and will perform well in any type of match. Give him a try

Deco- AMC
The perfect playmaker. His assisting is incredible. A striker dream to play with him. Alow him freedom of long range efforts and you will not regret it. Not the quickest of strongest but his performances in the big games is all the difference

Andres Iniesta- AMC
This kid is top quality. I wouldn't play him over Deco but he is perfect understudy who can easily replace him. Also good in the Xavi role. Maybe could be trained as a winger with his perfect crossing. Very agile and his passing is exact to Xavi. He will pop up at important times and has an eye for goal.

Strikers

Javier Saviola- ST
With his amazing pace he is someone who can come of the bench and destroy a tired defence. Frustation comes from his poor finishing, stats may be high but it takes him a lot of tries to score. Better with another striker

Eidur Gudjohnsen- AMC/ST
Recomend him as Eto'os back-up. Likes dropping off deep and creating play but don't alow him to get in the way of Deco. Not a natural goalscorer but the pleasure of his assisting to Eto'o is enough.

Samuel Eto'o- FC
The best striker i have worked under. Guarenteed to got 40 a season by himself upfront. His finishing is a shocking 16 but trust me he slots them away every time. With perfect long baller passes you can gain a massive advantage from his pure pace. Can be quite greedy but when he takes on 3 and scores you won't be worrying. Only problem will be Interational duty

Advised Transfers

A new centre back to replace Thuram and maybe sit with Puyol. An ageing defence measn new wing backs will be required. Javier Garrido is a brilliant signnig from Real Soceidad and can be snapped up on a free. Another Defensive midfielder is needed and i found Raul Albiol is your man. 12 million he can be signed for but he does keep requesting new deals. Also The wings will need younger back-ups with Guily and Ezqeuerro in there 30's.

Potentials from youth

Giovanni Dos Santos- AMC
Bojan- ST
Guy Asulin- AMRLC
Jeffren- AMRLC
Thiago- MRC
Christian Valle- DC
Marc Valiente- DC,DM
Alex- DL

Recommended Starting 11

GK Valdes

DR Zambrotta DC Puyol DC Marquez DL Gio
