Default Celtic Team Guide

Creator: Poe
Thanks To: Throw-In.com

Team: Glasgow Celtic
Division: Premier League, Scotland.
Expectations: Win the League
Finances: £2,000,000 transfer buget, £350k overall wage budget.
Recommended Tactic: 3-5-2 Attacking

Boruc, Varga, Balde, McManus, Keane, Wilson, Nakamura, Petrov, Lennon, Hartson, Zurawski.

One of Celtics best strikers of recent times, John Hartson is still upfront, and is still capable of performing extremly well upfront. His heading and finishing skill is immense, and his work rate is only a little short of industrial. He is as powerful as an articulated truck, and about as slow as one too, I'm sure even the most die-hard Celtic fan would admit he's not the fastest. In midfield, you have one of the EPL's all time legends, former Manc Roy Keane, he is still probably the most technically gifted midfielder in the SPL, and hold's Celtic very high in regard, so you can always expect the best from him. His tackling and heading are great, and being a defensive midfielder, his stamina and work rate are also excellent, all the ingredients for a superb defensive midfielder. Then theres his partner in midfield, Bulgarian Stilian Petrov. He has the potential to be one of the best midfielders ever to grace the SPL, his technical stats aren't the best, but his mental and physical attributes are a lot better, he has great technique and is a good passer, the perfect AMC you might say?

Otherwise best player material, Neil Lennon is overshadowed by his midfield colleague Roy Keane. Even at the grand old age of 34, Neil Lennon is still as strong as an ox, and still works to the very end. His mental attributes are great, with hard work and determination beating flair and skill every day of the week. He's still a very composed player, and with good passing ability, is still one of the best DMC's around in the SPL today. There's also Mr. Shunsuke Nakamura, the Japanese Maestro. He's a very weak player, with low natural fitness too, so will be shrugged off the ball by the bigger, stronger defenders of the league. His technical attributes are excellent though, his set piece ability is excellent, and so is his crossing and his passing range is exquisite. His first touch is masterful too. Upfront, you have a great goalscorer in Maciej Zurawski, often nicknamed "Magic" due to his insanely hard to pronounce first name, and his "magic" goalscoring abilities. Looking at his attributes, and from previous knowledge of FM05, Zurawski looks the perfect striker, with great finishing, long shots and heading. He'll score poachers goals, great headers, thumping volleys and delicate tap-ins, and at 28, he's only just reaching his peak, expect 20+ goals from Mr.Zurawski.

As backup to Boruc, you have a future Scottish International waiting in the wings in young David Marshall. At the young age of 20 and already having 2 international caps, his potential is great, and can go on to perform on a bigger stage really well. Definatly one worth keeping. There's also Craig Beattie, a pacey right winger/striker, who has the potential to become a Scottish international. For a striker, he has good attributes in all the right place to be a great goalscorer, already with great finishing ability and the ability to score from range. He has great strength and pace whilst on the ball, making it very hard to get the ball off him once he's away. Paul Lawson also looks good, his mental and physical attributes are already well developed for a 21 year old, and he's set to have a bright future at Celtic. Shaun Maloney is also quite young and looks a bright prospect too.

Again, this section will just be a list.

Dion Dublin
Stephen Pearson
Gary Irvine
Tony McParland
Mo Camara
Teddy Bjarnson
Paul Telfer
John Kennedy

As you can probably see from my previous section, the defence at Celtic isn't the best, with Varga standing out as the best of a bad bunch. I strongly suggest investing in this area if you are to achieve European success.

Overall Rating

***

Celtic can be an extremly fun club to manage and lead to European glory, and with a great youth system, if you can filter through all the rubbish, they are real gem's to find here.
