Hearts have an immense amount of quality in their small, but effective squad. Most of them are loans from Lithuania, so you may want to save your budget to either buy them, or renew their loans at the end of the season. First up is Czech winger
Rudi Skacel, on loan from French club Marsielle. He is very much a traditional winger, with good pace and crossing ability. He finished this season as Hearts' top goalscorer in real life, and this is reflected in FM, with decent finishing ability and a good long shot. Not the best winger in the game, but will do a solid job on the left of midfield for anyone. In goal, you have former Arsenal target and Scottish International
Craig Gordon. A great young goalie, with excellent goalkeeping attributes for his young age. His will to win is great, and arguably the two most important goalkeeping attributes, Handling and Reflexes are both in the high teens. He's also very able in the air, with this attribute standing at 18 at the start of the game. Definatly a one to watch, a must keep for any club, never mind Hearts. Just in front of him, you have the player nicknamed Elvis, due to his second name. Scottish international, and all-round hardman
Steven Pressley is not one to let you down. With tremendous influence on his team-mates, he is a perfect captain, and he isn't a bad defender too. His heading and tackling are both standing at 18, making him very strong in the air, as well as on the ground. He isn't too bad from the penalty spot too, another strong point.
Elvis' partner in centre defence is Mr.
Andy Webster, often targeted by the smaller Premiership clubs at the start of the game, he's definatly a one to watch. Another one of the Scottish International brigade, his heading, tackling and marking ability is already of a high standard, whilst also being very brave, never one to bottle out of the challenges. His work rate and determination is also very good, not the one to give up and quit when your 3-0 down, just ask any Liverpool fan how important that can be. In midfield you have Hibbee conqueror
Paul Hartley, the attacking midfielder of the Heart’s squadron. His corner taking ability, alongside his free kicks and penalties, make him deadly when dead balls have been won. His determination and work rate make him work until the very end, another one who won’t give up, in Hearts, you have a very determined team. Upfront, we have Czech striker
Roman Bednar, another one of the loan contingent. At 22, he has plenty of time to improve upon his already good striking ability. He makes a great target man, with good heading and deadly finishing. He is very composed in front of goal and his influence on other players is immense, making him a nomination for captain. He’s the sort of player who will create something out of nothing, he is also your 20+ goal a season striker if used correctly.
Already in the first team,
Lee Wallace is a great young prospect on the left hand side of defence. Born and bred in Edinburgh, Wallace is Hearts through and through, and this is reflected in his work rate and will to win for his favourite team. At the tender age of 17, he has ages to improve, and will surely become a regular in the Hearts side and in the Scotland side in the distant future. Wallowing down in the depths of the Under 18’s, is a young talent called
Calum Elliot, already made the breakthrough in the real life 2nd placed, Scottish Cup winners, Hearts side, this youngster promises a lot. He has the mental attributes to make a great player, and his finishing and first touch is already standing at 16, despite his diminutive age of 18. Another young forward also promises to be a good player, is young Icelandic striker
Hjalmar. Despite only being 19, he has already made 4 appearances and has represented his country at U-21 level. Hjalmar possesses great penalty taking ability, bravery and determination, maybe he his destined to be Iceland’s Alan Shearer? Only time will tell…
Michael Pospisil
Julien Brellier
Graham Weir
Juho Makela
Christophe Berra
Lee Johnson
Chris Hackett
Dennis Wyness
Ibrahim Tall
Takis Fyssas
I strongly recommend strengthening the right side, as Ibrahim Tall is poor, and Mirsad Beslija isn’t the best either. Otherwise, I’d save my money and buy Rudi Skacel and Roman Bednar permanently.
With a little work, Hearts are reading to launch an invasion on the fort that the Old Firm have set up at the top of the SPL, a great challenge.
