Default Newcastle United Team Guide

Creator: Poe
Thanks To: Throw-In.com

Team: Newcastle United
Division: Premier League, England.
Expectations: Mid-table Finish
Finances: £2,000,000 transfer buget, £600k overall wage budget.
Recommended Tactic: 4-4-2 Defensive Midfielder

Given, Carr, Bramble, Taylor, Babayaro, Parker, Solano, Emre, Luque, Shearer, Owen

In goal, you arguably have the best keeper in the Premiership in Shay Given, at 29, he's just hitting his peak in goal, and you can expect a good solid 7 years out of the vice captain between the sticks. The back four in front of him aren't up to scratch though, although they do have a solid right back in Steven Carr, his tackling is probably his most important attribute, and it's his best, he's also very fast and will work to the very end. In midfield, Newcastle are packed with quality, with Scott Parker and Emre in the very middle of it. These two new signings link up very well in the centre, with Emre providing the attacking flair, whilst Scott Parker chips in with hard work and sheer determination. Upfront you have Englands finest, Mr Michael Owen, with pace and exquiste finishing, Owen is one of the best forwards in the world, keep a hold of him, he'll provide 25+ goals a season if used correctly.

Newcastle have a reasonable amount of depth in defense, with Craig Moore and Jean-Alain Boumsong covering the first choicers excellently. You also have Peru's best ever player ( :ninja: ) on the right wing in Nolberto Solano, he will be the main man for set pieces, equipped with a beatiful right footed strike, he's always a danger. He's a very good crosser of the ball too. Upfront you have a Newcastle and England legend in Alan Shearer in his farewell season. He's still very strong, a lethal finisher and a great header of the ball, you'd be stupid not to play him. He can still get around 15 goals despite his age.

There are a lot of youngsters at Newcastle, and most of them have the potential to become great players, especially young Steven Taylor in defence. Most probably a future Newcastle captain, he has already cemented a first team spot this season, unfortunatly he has been injured for the second half of it. You also have Paul Huntington and Peter Ramage to look forward to in future seasons. In midfield, the two widemen James Milner and Charles N'Zogbia are very bright prospects, and are the future of Newcastle's midfield. Although Milner is on loan at Villa, I suggest you keep him when he returns. Shola Ameobi is still pretty young too, keep him to see how he progresses.

You don't need me to tell you there are a lot of poor players at Newcastle United. So I will basically list them here, instead of telling you about them.

Robbie Elliott
Kris Gate
Lee Bowyer
Kieron Dyer
Amdy Faye
Nicky Butt
Hugo Viana
Micheal Chopra
Marc Walton

You could get around 12million from all of these, I reckon.

Although you only start with 2million, you can sell the players listed above for a decent amount, to bring in backup. You should sign, depending upon who you sell, Benedict Vilakazi, to replace Dyer, Lebohang Mokoena to replace Viana, Eddie Johnson and Derek Riordan to give cover to the 2 front men. I also reccomend signing Anthony Vanden Borre, along with Mauro Esposito

Overall Rating

Although people may say Newcastle are an easy club to manage, it is great fun attempting to thwart the big 4's grip on the Premiership, and awake this sleeping giant once and for all.
