Download Part 1 From Here!! Well since I have written a few FAQ/Guides I thought I’d try my hand at “skinning” my FM game myself due to some of the skins out there look very good. One thing I have noticed is the lack of step by step idiot guides for people like me to use and learn skinning.
In this Guide I will hopefully guide you step by step through making a full skin by providing my personally made templates and images in here. Also I will try to explain where all the images are stored and where on the screen they are used since many images take up many different positions and uses!
Lets start with the easiest one I found to do.
The Background! You can really use any image you want for this but
make sure it is large enough to fit the screen due to
a stretched image looks very poor and blocky.
Choose your image and load it into Paint Shop Pro.
If the tool bar on the right says “Background” then
you will need to change this. (See right or see Image2.jpg)
If you right click on the word BACKGROUND you will have
A list of options. If you then choose “Promote Background
Layer” the word background will change to “Raster 1”.
This will allow you to change the “Opacity” of the image so
It will allow it to be more transparent!
The sliding bar will then have the ability to change its rating.
You are best sliding this to about 66. You will notice that when
You slide the Opacity bar the image goes transparent. This is normal!
When you have set this to 66 then you need to save the image. Simply click on File – SAVE AS (this is important as you want to change the file extension and rename the image!). A box will appear and you will need to click on the SAVE AS TYPE box and change it to .JPG. After this has been selected you will need to rename the image. Click in the box above and then type “default”. You will need to change the place that Paint Shop Pro saves the file to by clicking on the SAVE TO at the top of that box and selecting DESKTOP as this is the easiest place to find! Once you have done this click SAVE.
Paint Shop Pro will give you a warning that due to the limitations of the image will be saved as merged. This is fine just click OK.
Now getting this image you have made into your FM game. You will need to click on START – my computer – C drive – Program Files – Sports Interactive – Football Manager 06 – Data – Graphics – Backgrounds. Inside there you will see an image already named default. Right click on this image and select RENAME. Rename this image to Default1. Leave this folder open, as you will need it in a minute.
Go back to your desktop and find your image you created and right click on it. Select COPY. Then click in the folder you have open where default1 is and right click and select PASTE. You should now see default and default1 in that folder. If you do then close this folder and if you don’t please repeat this paragraph.
Part 2.. Skinning the Title Bar... To follow!!
NOTE: If you are thinking of using this file on any other site please PM or EMAIL me asking for permission. If I find it on anyother site (and i keep records) I will personally join that site and speak to the Mods!
I do not mind sharing it but like the little respect in asking first! :)
