Just thought I'd post this because I've been asked for help about it twice in two days.
So, If you get the message: Error : Null, When you are trying to install, Follow this;

Go to C: Drive.
Then Program Files.
Then Common Files.
Then Install Shield.
Then Universal.
Then, There should be a Sports Interactive folder, rename this "Sports Interactive Backup".
Then try to install the game again, It will work.

well thanks for that info, ive had fm 07 since it came out and installed in loads of times, but it came up with that message recently so i left it and went back to FM 06...glad to get 07 back, thanks

I just uninstalled and re-installed it, it kept all my save games so happy days :)
