Lightbulb Improving Your Managerial Profile Stats - Part 1 and 2

In this new FAQ/Guide I am attempting to find a pattern and develope a way of improving your stats as a manager and see hwo quickly you can achieve all 20's and what things affect your stats in a positive and negative way.

-------------------------------
Downloadable Version Here!!!

Ever wondered how your managerial ratings works and how to improve it?

Well another one of my FAQ/Guides will give you a look into how to change this hopefully simply and quickly and hopefulyl achieving a 20 across the board. This will follow my season as manager and what choices I make and results effect my rating as manager.

I am sure that this may not work acorss all the divisions but I shall look into this.

Well I have chosen a Premiership Club to run whislt writing this cause I feel that its the easiest way to see the figures rise and fall due to the expectation of the club.

Being a new manager you start out with 10's everywhere and after every media decision, game, signing etc I shall check my rating to see if it makes a difference.

I was asked as the new manager of Liverpool FC, just before the first game, if I felt pressured running such as world famous club. I thought the realistic choice was to answer with that I hopefully I will prove to the fans I am the right choice as manager.

After looking at my ratings the Media Handling and Ability To Handle Pressure both rose by 1. I decided not to be too egotistical.

When declaring interest in players you wish to sign try to avoid the usual pitfalls which can damage your reputation such as going after players who are unreachable and/or being interested in alot of players and not signing any as both of these will have your fans and the press laughing at your and your ambition will fall.

First chance I got of releasing a comment about the next team I am to play, in a friendly, which was Real Madrid and I decided to release a Negative comment. This had a huge effect on my ratings which sent Media Handling to 13 and Professionalism to 12. I do believe that you have to pick and choose the clubs you are negative to, at least in friendlies due to you never really play World Class teams that much.

Just before the first game of the season I released a comment about the next team which happened to be West Brom and said that their manager has no probkem getting them relegated. My ability to handle pressure after the Real Madrid Game and now has risen to 13.

One downfall I have noticed is that my ambition has sunk to 8. I believe this is because I have not made any major signings or said that I want any World Class players in my team as of yet.

Well on winning the first match and putting a very negative comment at West Brom my current mangerial stats are this: Ability TO Handle Pressue: 13 Ambition: 8 Loyality: 10 Media Handling: 15 Professionalism: 14 Temperment: 10

What does this tell me so far about what you do and say over the start of your managerial life? As far as a big club goes they expect big name signings but dont keep saying "you want this player" all the time. Comment alot on other teams through the media and you will become media friendly which I am not sure is a bad thing.

Loyality hasn't risen cause I believe it wont unless I sign others and turn down offers for jobs.

Professionalism I cant really understand at this moment due to I have made a few comments and nothing really harsh.

Temperment will adjust when another mananger or press decides to slate me I believe but we will see.

After a few games of good results remember to praise the team and a player or two just to keep them and the fans happy otherwise the payers will not be happy.

Making negative comments against the next team has proven again that your stats do rise. I made the comment of relishing the prospect of beating the next team and my ratings has risen. Media Handling 17... Professionalism 16..

I haven't been realsing alot comments before and after in the first month of playing in the EPL.

On another start I signed a few good players before the first transfer window had closed and my Ambition rating had not improved and as well as releasing the same comments as before but as slightly different times before the match my rating at the end of August was all 10's except fro Media Handling and Professionalism. Bearing that in mind I never really slated a manager and did not make any comments before or after 1 of the matches so far.

I shall go through a season with liverpool and note my findings and thoughts and then see how this differs with a 2nd division club and write a final analysis on it all... This will take me time to put together and Part 1 will change as I find new things as I go thru the season!!

Part 2...

During your season other mangers will not be as lucky as you and will have their jobs on the line and this can really affect your Loyalty Rating if you declare yourself interested in taking over another club in a negative way. If you just ignore the option to declare your interest your rating will rise slightly.

I am not sure if it is the same when it comes to the position of managing an International team as you can do both jobs at once in FM.

I have followed this game on not making very many pre-match and after match statements unless they have been against rival teams and have no declare interest in any other jobs.

What I have noticed is that since I changed my formation from my 4-4-2 into 4-5-1 my Ambition has lowered itself down to 7 now. Is this linked to the fact I am playing a more defensive style and not really pushing my team at half time and team talks and tempo of play are reduced slightly due to numerous of injuries? This is something to keep in mind!!

Responding to other managerial comments is always a funny game but to increase or decrease your stats you must think and decide wisely. When another manager praises you then it is ok to praise back to a certain extent! You will have to decide whether your players will approve of you giving praise to another manager and weight this up with the fact of is it wroth increasing your stats or keeping your players hungry to win . Always a hard decision!

In my various times I have had this occur it is best to approve of the manager who has praised you and the majority of players on your team will say something along the lines of “glad to see you are diverting attention away from your team!”

Ability to handle pressure stats can drop and rise very quickly and mostly rise in what answers you give to a top manager slating you. If you respond with a hugely negative comment towards him you will see this fly upwards and if you have 2-3 hard games in a row this is good for your stats. Beware if you lose one of these games your players will react slightly badly with their confidence.

One stat I haven’t worked out on what causes it to rise and fall is Ambition. I did believe this was down to whom you signed and what you won but in FM you can’t say that you want to win certain things. The only thing I can attach this to is when you respond certain ways to other comments and getting to the comments first with every game. But this is untried theory!

Ambition is always a hard stat to improve on but I have also found that if you win a huge game against a rival team and then you make a very big negative comment towards them after the match your ambition will rise and your players will be happier that you have diverted attention from them and will play with less pressure.

This is great really puts it all into prospective.

With Ambition I beat a rival team in a cup match and negative saying something like totally outclassed or something and it went up by 2. I did this after every rival win and it is up but i have never got it above 14 for some reason it just stays there even when all the others are about 20? Not sure what they want with this stat?

Ambition is a mixture of a few things.. such as wanting big names to come to the club..signing big names... big win over rival team and bad press towards them..

I see what your saying but i cant see how this works, i declare interest in top players and sign them but ambition doesnt go up, all that happens is some shite player in my team gets upset that his supposed position is under threat.

Also ambition and pressure seem to be connected as in when i am ambition my pressure level goes down and vise versa. As i think you said its all about the right levels but still i have yet to ever get my ambition above 14 and i just wont the premeirship with notts co and have declared interest in some great players and have signed them?:deadhorse:
