I have an idea for a Database I'd like to build, my idea is called the Six Nations Superleague, It would Involve taking teams from Rugbys 6 Nations and putting them in the English League System, The Countries are(for those who do not know what or where the 6 Nations is) are:- England Scotland Wales Ireland France Italy Seen as in Rugby the Irish also include Northern Ireland, I would add teams from the N.Irish League System as if they were treat as being from the whole of Ireland and I would likely set it up as follows Premiership(20 teams):- Top 4 from England Top 4 from Italy Top 3 from France Top 3 from Scotland Top 3 from Wales Top 3 from Ireland Championship through to Blue Square Premier(24 teams):- 4 Teams from England 4 Teams from Italy 4 Teams from France 4 Teams from Scotland 4 Teams from Wales 4 Teams from Ireland Blue Square North/South 5 Teams from England 5 Teams from Italy 3 Teams from France 3 Teams from Scotland 3 Teams from Wales 3 Teams from Ireland I think I got the numbers right If this idea comes off I also plan to fill the Feeder Leagues under B.Square North/South with teams from the 6 Nations to keep the balance right I hope to be able to start this Database in the next few weeks, what I'm going to do first is back the original database up and mess about with it, swapping teams about to make sure I can it right I also have a few other Ideas in mind, which I won't go into detail on just, but one idea consists of teams from the old British Empire 'The Colonial League' and also a Great Britain and Ireland Superleague and a Superleague based on teams from the Teams from countries who made up the Allies in World War 2 I have a basic grasp of how the database, I'll read the guides here to get a better Idea of how it works and what to change and what not to change. Any ideas or opinions about my ideas would be very much appreciated, please don't hesitate to PM me or e-mail me at david.forster@vodafone.net or fozzy_fozzbourne@hotmail.com Just let me know if it is a good idea, if it is crap, if i'm aiming too high, if it will be impossible to create or i'm just simply going out of my depth here Any feedback would be great What my main concern about it is, when I come to swap teams for example swapping Accrington Stanley for a team in Italy, when I come to swap them , I know I'd obviously have to change the nations of the teams, but would I for example have to relocate Accringtons Ground to say Turin and Juventus' ground to say Birmingham. I guess i'll mostly find out through trial and error, just swapping teams about and then loading the database to see if it works Also where do I upload the files to, whats the best site to join to upload I hope this is not too long winded, and all your opinions, advice and help will be greatly appreciated Look forward to hearing from you guys All the Best Fozz | | | | | 05-03-08, 07:57 AM | #2 (permalink) | | Aut viam inveniam aut faciam Join Date: Mar 2007 Location: Hull Posts: 1,236 Thanks: 14 Thanked 132 Times in 42 Posts | Some great ideas there Fozz. Your doing the right thing having a play around first before you go for it. It'd upto you about the stadiums, in my European Superleague, I didnt change the staduim cities, and had no problems. As for uploading (dont forget to zip it), you can go straight to the download centre, and upload it there. Or try filefront.com, and link the file here. Any probs, just get in touch with myself or fed. Good luck! . | | | | 05-03-08, 08:41 AM | #3 (permalink) | | Parklane_yiddo Join Date: Jun 2006 Location: Lincolnshire Posts: 165 Thanks: 30 Thanked 17 Times in 9 Posts | Sounds a brilliant idea, hope to see your work soon Last edited by seany; 05-03-08 at 11:40 AM. It looks like the Divisions from Premier to Blue Square South will just mainy consist of teams from the top 2 tiers of the 6 league systems. One thing that is bugging me is how will I sort out Regional Leagues under the Blue Square and it's regional feeders, does it matter how I sort this out or not. Once i've put my league lists together I'll post them up here for your opinions and ideas on changes I could make | | | | | 05-03-08, 11:18 AM | #5 (permalink) | | What Bozza can do with an orange, I can do with a grape! I think you should take your time with this project. Do a lot of testing. Not only when you're all done but do a lot of testing every couple of teams. If something doesn't work, at least you know where the problem might be. If you choose for the last option, at least you know you've got the biggest teams in it.. the teams with the best history. Good luck with this project mate. Well, this is the make up of the league I have thought of, I pass it over to you now for your opinions on my setup, have I got the setup right, is the mix right, is there anything else I should be taken into consideration, my first opinion on it, is the Premier League is potentially a strong league where the English, Italian and French teams will be there or there abouts at the top, possibly Rangers and Celtic as well, The Championship looks like a decent league, but under the Championship it starts to look lopsided, because going all the way down to the Conference, there is still some good English, Italian and French clubs in there, while the clubs from Scotland, Wales and Ireland get pretty weak around League 2, I had an idea of given the weakest clubs in these divisions an reputation based on the average in there division, might it be woth doing that, just to make the leagues that little bit more competitive, also to make the lower divisions stronger, I was possibly thinking about taking the highest Reputation subtracting from the lowest teams reputation and given the weaker teams the difference as there reputation, what are you guys thoughts on this, any feedback or ideas would be more than welcome Premier League Man Utd Arsenal Chelsea Liverpool Juventus AC Milan Roma Inter Milan Lyon Marseille PSG Celtic Rangers Hearts TNS Rhyl Llanelli Drogheda united Derry City Linfield Championship Tottenham Hotspur Everton Manchester City Aston Villa Lazio Fiorentina Torino Parma Monaco Lille Lens Auxerre Hibernian Aberdeen Motherwell kilmarnock Connahs Quay Nomads Welshpool Town Llangefni Town Caersws Bohemian F.C Cork City Cliftonville Glentoran League 1 Newcastle Portsmouth Blackburn Bolton Wanderers Parma Palermo Udinese Livorno Le Mans Bordeaux Sochaux Stade Rennais Inverness St Mirren Dundee United Falkirk Aberystwyth Town Bangor City Haverfordwest County Porthmadog Bray Wanderers UCD Portadown Lisburn Distillery League 2 West Ham United Fulham Wigan Middlesbrough Atalanta Cagliari Empoli Napoli Nancy Nice Rennes Saint-Etienne Gretna Dundee St Johnstone Dundee Port Talbot Town NEWI Cefn Druids Neath Athletic Bangor City Dungannon Swifts Crusaders Galway United Shamrock Rovers Blue Square Premier Sunderland Derby Birmingham City Charlton Siena Catania Udinese Chievo SM Caen Lorient Strasbourg Metz Dunfermline Greenock Morton Partick Thistle Livingston Airbus UK Newtown Caernarfon Town Cwmbran Town Longford Town Waterford United Limavady Newry City Blue Square North Watford West Brom Charlton Crystal Palace Wolves Piacenza Rimini Brescia Bologna Mantova Troyes Reims Montpellier Greenock Morton Queen of the South Hamilton Academical Cwmbran Town Afan Lido Barry Town Donegal Celtic Larne Sligo Rovers Blue Square South Stoke City Bristol Rovers Plymouth Argyle Burnley Ipswich Lecce Vicenza Treviso Bari Modena Bastia Bolougne Amiens Clyde Stirling Partick Bridgend Town F.C Ton Pentre Holyhead Hotspur Shelbourne Cobh Ramblers Armagh City | | | | | 05-03-08, 01:10 PM | #10 (permalink) | | What Bozza can do with an orange, I can do with a grape! Join Date: Sep 2006 Location: palermo,Italy Posts: 2,586 Thanks: 24 Thanked 468 Times in 202 Posts | looks good so far mate, however the english and italian and frenchteams will dominate procedings in all the leagues i feel, thats why i feel there should be either spain or Germany instead. for example only 2 teams from scotland, ireland and wales so you can fit in 3 spanish or german sides? and 1 more thing you dont have to change the nation of the teams for it to work i dont think, as otherwise all regens will be english no matter what team it is. | | | | 05-03-08, 02:14 PM | #11 (permalink) | | Decent Youngster Join Date: May 2006 Location: Murton, Co Durham Posts: 14 Thanks: 3 Thanked 3 Times in 3 Posts | Thanks for the feedback Fed, I agree with the fact the English, French and Italians would dominate, as this is based around the 6 Nations Rugby Countries, I don't want to add too many more European Nations, as it would then be effectively another European Superleague, but I am now planning to add 4 Spanish teams in each division to make the league stronger, based on there positions last season, so I think it would look as follows Premiership 1-4 La Liga Championship 5-8 La Liga League 1 9-12 La Liga League 2 13-16 La Liga Blue Square Premier 17-20 La Liga Blue Square North 1-4 Segunda Division Blue Square South 5-8 Segunda Division I noticed that your from Italy Fed, would you be able to advise on where the Italian teams should be, because apart from the top 2 divisions, I've mainly based it on teams I've mostly heard of, I'll update my list later on. Also, another question I have is what kind of timescale should I be working on to get this completed, I will be testing it as I go along, testing it a division at a time, but I want to give myself some kind of deadline to get it done, how long on average does it take you guys to build your leagues. I will be making a start on the league at the Weekend, so up till then it is still all subject to change Once again, thanks for your views | | | | | 05-03-08, 02:25 PM | #12 (permalink) | | What Bozza can do with an orange, I can do with a grape! Join Date: Sep 2006 Location: palermo,Italy Posts: 2,586 Thanks: 24 Thanked 468 Times in 202 Posts | i'd say give yourself about a month to do this, as testing will need to be done, and then there is no rush, if i were you i wouldnt set a specific date of release however. for the italian structure i would have this: Premiership 1-4 Serie A Championship 5-9 Serie A League 1 10-14 Serie A League 2 15-19 Serie A Blue Square Premier 20th serie A - 3rd Serie B Blue Square North 4-9 Serie B Blue Square South 10-15 Serie B When it comes to non-league i would carry on suite like this e.g. unibond leagues etc. have 16-18 in serie B then in the southern equivelant have 18-20. if you understand? | | | | | The Following User Says Thank You to Fedorico Roma Fan For This Useful Post: | | 05-03-08, 02:53 PM | #13 (permalink) | | Decent Youngster Join Date: May 2006 Location: Murton, Co Durham Posts: 14 Thanks: 3 Thanked 3 Times in 3 Posts | Another Change of Plan guys, I'm now basing my divisions on last seasons League Placings e.g Man Utd Chelsea Liverpool Arsenal etc the lower the placing, the lower division the team will be in(incl. Juventus), I was going to base it on reputation alone, but to make a bit more realistic to me, a team like Bolton and Reading finished 7th and 8th respectively in the Premier League, so I feel they deserve to play in my 2nd tier, and take much of the weakness, I've cut the Welsh and Irish Teams to 1 in each division and put 4 Spanish teams in each division, I'll be starting the work on the database in the next 2/3 days, so i'll make sure to keep you all updated on my progress and keep you updated on the tests I run, I'll post an updated League list shortly | | | | | | The Following User Says Thank You to English_Pride For This Useful Post: | | 05-03-08, 04:51 PM | #14 (permalink) | | Decent Youngster Join Date: May 2006 Location: Murton, Co Durham Posts: 14 Thanks: 3 Thanked 3 Times in 3 Posts | I have finished my updated League System. 1 major change I decided on all together was to take out Ireland and Wales completely, they are just simply too weak, so in there place is Spain and Holland It is purely based on league positions, that is why Juventus is so many divisions down, now for the Blue Squares feeder leagues, Unibond etc, I'm make them up of Teams from other European leagues e.g. Portugal, Germany and Russia, and probably a couple more Eastern European Nations, while the main base of the game is teams from Rugby Unions 6 Nations, Holland and Spain, as time goes on in the game it will be a league consisting of teams from Europes Rugby playing Nations The name of the league will simply be the European Football League it's competitions will be European Premier League European Championship(Championship) European First League(League 1) European Second League(League 2) European Third League(Blue Square Premier) European Northern League(Blue Square North) European Southern League(Blue Square South) With The Cups being Named European Football League Cup(F.A Cup) European Football League Shield(Carling Cup) European Football Super Cup(Charity Shield) European Football Challenge Shield(Johnstones Paint Trophy) European Football League Vase(F.A Trophy) European Football League Bowl(Setanta Shield) The Feeders under European Northern/Southern League will be named as follows:- European Northern Combination European Southern Combination(Southern League) European South-Eastern Alliance League(Isthmian League) So there you go, that is my plan, I'm going to make some simple changes to my database later on, most probably something simple like the changing of the League and Competition names So the Superleague now consists of England, Italy, Scotland, France, Spain and Holland here is the line up for the league now:- Premier League- Man Utd
