    Default A clean slate

I felt I needed a new challenge and thanks to hicapaul and beatty2209 I have decided to start again with FC Shakhtar Donetsk. Wish me luck and i'll probably need some encouragement a couple of seasons in as I have the tendancy to quit games!! lol. I'll try and post results on a monthly basis and look forward to your views and if you have any tips for me in the process, please dont hold back!!

Carerr aim: Really quite simple for Shakhtar, European Glory. As for me to get past 2011 without having the urge to quit!!

    June/July update

So I finally took the reins of Shakhtar Donetsk and I'm quite optimistic about the future what lies ahead of this quality team.

    Transfers

I decided to sell a few player who i deemed surplus to requirement. I was shocked when I seen how much I was paying Nery Castillo, 40k per week. I thought that was way too much. In my opinion I think he lacks the quality to play at the top level in any Country, but like I said it's my opinion and I could be wrong.
I'm very pleased with the additions I have managed to bring in. Most of them are pretty young and very promising players. Ekdal has already got good attributes and he can still improve. Aquino is a player I always try to buy in past games and he has never let me down, the same can be said to Cardozo as well. After getting rid of Castillo I needed to buy a left winger and I went for Buonanotte. He is twice the player than Castillo and he is only 20 years old.
Because of the strict rule the ukraine premier league have (you have to field a team with 7 Ukrainian players in the starting 11) I also brought a couple of ukranians to freshen the team up. Rusol is a strong centre back and will add depth into my side. Bobko is a 17 year old left wing back who can play more advanced as a winger, his stats are promising and with the right guidance can become world class.

Overall I think I have strenghtend my team, though this can only be proved by the results i get, I;m glad I have kept Srna despite all the interest he got, though that all died down when I slapped a 30m price tag on his head.

    Fixtures

Pre Season went well and i gained some good results but in fairness the side i were playing against were not a major threat. Also none of the player I brought featured in the friendlies as they only started to come in on the 5/07/09.
The loss to Dinamo Kiev in the super cup hurt and to be fair they were the better side and the result did not flatter them at all.
I'm pleased with how we responded in the league, Undefeated and in the matches we have played we have dominated in the possesion department.

    Table

Great start to the league Craig, your board won't let that Super Cup loss go easily! Have a look a Roman Zozuyla (sp) at Dinamo Kiev, young, cheap and great, Ukrainian too.

Good luck, Shakhtar's one of the teams I've intended to manage but never got round to. What's the skin you're using by the way?

The skin im using is called steklo matey.

Yeah the super cup defeat was bad and i was pulling my hair out with the way we played. Though we'll just have to get revenge in the league!

I've looked at Zozuyla and i must admit he seems good. I'll snap him up, though any ideas on a good DMC who would be prepared to come to Shakhtar? I've tried to sign Camacho and Tymoschuk though they don't want to play for me :(.

    August 2008 report

    FIXTURES

A good month in my view. Still unbeaten and have a three point gap over Dinamo Kiev. The only complaint is the draw I got against Kiev, would of liked a win, but 1 point is better than no points. An excellent Home win against Standard was the highlight of the month, where Cardozo got a hat-trick. We just need another 6 wins and we will be in the knockout stages of the Champions League and it should be easy...

    Or maybe not lol.

    TRANSFERS

Just two additions to my squad this month. One player you will probably know all about the other you might not of heard of him.
Roman Zozulya is a 18 yr old AMRC, FC who looks very promising,
Joao Moutinho is going to be a key player for me this season and i am glad i managed to snap him up.

    LEAGUE TABLE

Most League Goals: 4 Darijo Srna
Most League Assist: 6 Diego Buonanotte
    Most MOM: 3 Darijo Srna
Managers Player of the month: Its a hard one to pick both Srna and Buonanotte have been outstanding this month. I am going to side with Srna this time around.

    Managers Summary

Goodish Month for us, still unbeaten in the league and qualified for the Champs League. So not much to grumble with. However still felt we dropped two point against Dinamo Kiev and come the end of the season those two points could be vital. The draw for the champs league was not very favourable and i think it will be hard to get into the latter rounds of the UEFA Cup nevermind qualifying for the knockout rounds of the Champions League.
I still think my squad is bedding in and come next month I will be expecting better results in the league.

Great start to the season there and incredible work snapping up Joao Moutinho before the bigger clubs get involved. That is a ridiculously tough champions league group though.

Click above for my current game. Thanks for the sig Glenn

    SEPTEMBER REPORT 2009

    FIXTURES

    CHAMPS LEAGUE

    UKRAINE PREM LEAGUE

    Player stats

Clubs top league goal scorer: Olexandr Gladkyi (5)
Club's top league assist: Diego Buonanotte (5)
Most League MOM : 2 Players (Srna & Buonanotte)
Manager's Player of the Month : Joao Moutinho. He has been superb for us in the short time he's been here.

    NEWS AND GENERAL GOSSIP

Srna is still being linked with various clubs, also clubs are making their interests public with Olympic Marseille and Valencia keen on the Croatian Midfielder. At first Srna stated his love for Shakhtar, though now Srna has stated that offers from big clubs like Marseille would be too good to turn down.

    MANAGER COMMENTS.

League-wise it has been a good month three straight wins and still unbeaten in the league. Even though we are still winning, i would like the team to win by biggger margins and that will be something I will have to address this coming month.
Srna is still happy to be at the club 'he loves' and it is important he stays for us to acheive any major silverware.
Champions League has been disappointing and it is evident after the 4-0 thrashing handed out by Barca and the narrow defeat against Bayern we are going to really struggle. On a positive note we played really well against Bayern and deserved at least a point, but thanks to Schweinsteiger's 92 minute strike we were left with nothing!!!

    OCTOBER REPORT

    FIXTURES

    UKRAINE PREM LEAGUE

    CHAMPIONS LEAGUE

    NEWS AND GOSSIP

All quiet on the eastern front really.

    MANAGERS COMMENTS

Really poor start to the month with a crapy draw against Metalurg. In that match we had 4 clear chances and could not convert one of them. I was a very unhappy bunny to say the least. After the blip we dusted our selfs off and gained a good result against Vorskla.
I think its very safe to say we have no chance whatsoever in the champions league and the only thing left is pride.
Happy to be in the quater finals of the ukrainian cup, though anything less and I would of probably been shot by the board.
Still not happy with the score lines and in the league I should be winning by bigger margins, I dont know whether i'm being too picky though?
We have alot of fixtures next month so hopefully we can stay undefeated and make the gap between us and Dinamo Kiev bigger/

    NOVEMBER-FEBUARY 2009 REPORT

    FIXTURES/ RESULTS

    TABLE

    TRANSFERS

    TRANSFER NEW/ GOSSIP

A few players from Shakhtar seem to be unsettled due to rumours linking them to various clubs
Srna has been catching the eye's of Real Madrid, Inter Milan, A.C Milan and Chelsea despite having signed a new contract with his club, interest still remains.

Andriy Rusol has been unsettled with Sunderland and Ajax wanting to sign the centre back. Recently Rusol has stated to his current employers he wants to be transfer listed.

Olexandr Gladkyi has also caught the eye of Numancia and Recreativo.

    Manager Overview.

I have to say my Shakhtar side have struggled in the past few months. We have give up 1st place to Kiev and to b honest I can't see us getting it back. I have checked with my assistant for a few games now and it looks that a large amount of players are still struggling to blend in. This shows on the results we have been getting, we are too inconsistent.

I'm glad I have managed to bring in Anthony Vanden Borre and he has been placed straight into the right back role which we have desperately needed to fill.

For the next couple of months our form will be vital to determine where we end the season. Anything other than 1st will be a failure and I will have to consider my future at the Olympiyskyi.

Next match is the Ukraine Cup semi finals where my squad will travel to Dinamo Kiev, it is a match we must win...

    BREAKING NEWS
Craig Hallam Resigns as Shakhtar Donetsk's manager.

In a brief press conference Hallam stated that the loss to Dinamo Kiev was the final Straw and said that the club would not be able to win the Premier League this season. He also apologised to the fans and said he wanted to succeed at Shakhtar though things did not go according to plan.

Speculation suuggests that the dressing room lost faith in their manager after constant negative team talks and that Hallam left before he got the boot.

A reported asked Hallam what the future holds now for him and he responded " I'm going to have a little break from football and spend sometime in the garden."
