Right I'm dipping my toes in the water - having played both FM2007 and FM2008 to death I thought I'd post this challenge. I managed this challenge after 3 goes on FM2007, I have still yet to do it on FM2008.
The challenge to is get Altrincham (current league BSP) to survive a season in the Premiership.
Tools required: Data editor and possibly FMM
Setup:
Using the FM2008 data editor:
- View the English Premier League
- Swap Altrincham with a Premier League team of your choice
- Edit Altrincham so they have a balance and transfer budget of £10 million, a wage budge of £60k p/w, and are professional
- Remove all Alty players
- Create and assign a player of your creation; make him 18 years old, with a Current Ability of 150 and a Potential of 199. Assign him a position of your choosing (or leave blank if you want it to be random)
- Save as a new database
In Game:
- Start the Game using your new database
- Add as many leagues as you wish
- Add as many nations as you want
- Create yourself as an manager with "Sunday League" experience, pick Altrincham from the list and start the game
- Terminate the loan signings if any
- If the finances have been altered, use FMM and restore them to £10m/£60k p/w
Now play the game for a season seeing if you can keep the team up. Quite possibly the hardest 'possible' challenge ever?
Rules:
Do not use the editor or FMM to change any other element of the club such as world rep, training facilities or your stats. That's just cheating!
If you want to use one of the Scouts so be it, it isn't much easier with them.
Hints:
- Look outside of Western Europe for players of Premiership ability
- As the season progresses, it will become easier to sign players as your rep and the club's rep increases, so try not the blow the budget at the start on trash
- The 'wonderkid' is there if you need cash in January, he will fetch ~5mill but shouldn't want away if you decide to keep him
I have more hints too if you need them, if not, enjoy.
