My career is shameful but I somehow had a good few offeres to chose from Witton, Bromley, Cambridge City but I opten for Taffs Well AFC. I was getting offered better wages by cambridge but Taffs Well had a whoping £180,000 transfer budget. So here I am YET ANOTHER club, the transfer funds are no good because there is no oner worth signing. Taffs play in the Welsh Premier division though so a few good seasons could see me playing uefa cup football! obviously not a hope of winning it but Ive got a bit of ambition now. To sum up: Hong Kong > Tai Po > Worcester > Solihull Moors > Taffs Well its not a great career so far but I'm determined to come good! | | | | | 18-04-08, 04:58 PM | #42 (permalink) | | Backup To The First Team Join Date: Apr 2008 Posts: 218 Thanks: 33 Thanked 17 Times in 15 Posts Nominated 0 Times in 0 Posts TOTW/F/M Award(s): 0 | Quote: Originally Posted by Wednesdayboy do you have a parent club that will loan you players, like oldham etc, they will loan you some great players. This will make all your players last longer on the pitch and also make all your weak young players stronger and in the lower leagues, that makes all the difference. | At solihull I has mansfield whose youth were crap/as bad as I had. I know what you mean though your loan signings in these leagues can make or break your season. Also I always look for a 'fitness coach' even at crap clubs you can get one with 16-20 fitness training. To do this the best way is not to use 'filter unrealistic targets' instead go to search bar and enter 'no club' scroll down coaches tend to be in clumps, so you'll find a few together. Then click and have a look at stats. It is time consuming but well worth it. I find even coaches who 'aren't interested' often sign if they are unemployed. This is the trick I use. Same process can be applied to find some youngsters. Scroll right to bottom and there is usually 15-16 year old players. Sometimes obscure nationalities so work permits can be difficult but it can sometimes pay off. | | | | | | The Following User Says Thank You to Alan_R For This Useful Post: | | 18-04-08, 06:49 PM | #43 (permalink) | | Important First Team Player Join Date: Apr 2008 Location: Sheffield Posts: 981 Thanks: 259 Thanked 202 Times in 196 Posts Nominated 2 Times in 1 Post TOTW/F/M Award(s): 0 | New signing made, nice loan from leeds and he has had a great debut, 2 goals against Redditch and a 8 rating, looks like he might do well, will post table soon. Tomi Ameobi: Also in 2nd round of FAT Cup and have another non-league club, beat them and its and open competition. BTW alan did you need my advise or had you already done it, also have you ever managed in low leagues before. | | | | | 18-04-08, 07:57 PM | #44 (permalink) | | Important First Team Player Join Date: Apr 2008 Location: Sheffield Posts: 981 Thanks: 259 Thanked 202 Times in 196 Posts Nominated 2 Times in 1 Post TOTW/F/M Award(s): 0 | ignore the new post above with the advise, didn't see ur post above, sos about your managerial Career but I'm about to make it a little bit worse for you. When I took over I was bottom and was something like 7 points from safety. 6 wins in a row puts me here. All my signings have added both quality and depth, I play reserves when the first team is tired and in cups. Its looking good for the season, alot of teams in prem and champ are looking for managers so could be in line for big job soon, if not then who knows might take Workington tro prem lol. | | | | | 19-04-08, 10:24 AM | #45 (permalink) | | Backup To The First Team Join Date: Apr 2008 Posts: 218 Thanks: 33 Thanked 17 Times in 15 Posts Nominated 0 Times in 0 Posts TOTW/F/M Award(s): 0 | I usually manage low league clubs. Its what I enjoy most the challenge. In my other game (which is on hold at the moment) Ive took Fisher Athletic from Conference South so far to the championship but I was able to make some quality signings. Look at this guy he was my star play at fisher and played a huge part in my success: had to sell him eventually. So far my problem has been not finding any quality signings. No one worth signing and I never sign any one unless they are significally going to improve my squad. No point in making up numbers. I've just signed this guy on a free though for my Taffs Team in this challenge though. Hes worth £45K already and hes a good player for standard of welsh league and still young. best piece of business so far is on the coaching front. Like I mentioned before about getting quality coaches for low reputation teams. The former Milan and Italy star who is now an excellent coach: Pancaro signs for Taffs! and only £35 a week!!! defence coaching is 5 star now! How's the Welsh league going, you doing well or just cruzing through season in safety. | | | | | 19-04-08, 12:06 PM | #48 (permalink) | | Backup To The First Team Join Date: Apr 2008 Posts: 218 Thanks: 33 Thanked 17 Times in 15 Posts Nominated 0 Times in 0 Posts TOTW/F/M Award(s): 0 | Andy King looks excellent Wednesdayboy. Id look to make him a striker though. Got all the attributes for being a goal machine in lower leagues. Just checked him on my game. Think Im a few seasons ahead of you and he is playing in prem for leicester and valued at £1.4m so you might just have found a real bargain! as for wales still doing my pre-season. Figured I better really prepare myself. I want a good season. So far so good won my last friendly 5-0 | | | | | 19-04-08, 12:19 PM | #49 (permalink) | | Important First Team Player Join Date: Apr 2008 Location: Sheffield Posts: 981 Thanks: 259 Thanked 202 Times in 196 Posts Nominated 2 Times in 1 Post TOTW/F/M Award(s): 0 | Think you are lol, it would be pretty hard for me to persuade a Prem player worth 1.4m to come to Workington, will take your advise and started his training in Strike, looks good, my next match is in cup and so he is cup tied, in second round of FAT and heavy favorites to beat Waltham Forest then we could face anyone from Conference down. You might be further in front cos the China league starts 7 months before English league started so when it ended English clubs were only 15 games into first season. Tried to loan Chris o'Grady from rotherham for a bit of depth, he came to Harrogate on my old game so tried with them but Rotherham don't want him to leave. BTW whos your favorite team. Think you can quess mine. :) Last edited by Wednesdayboy; 19-04-08 at 12:28 PM. Whitby or Burgess Hill, another non-league team, we are really having the look of the draw, we got 5k from winning the last round and it looks like another 5k, for a financally struggling team, thats great, have 1 big eye on the cup and the money we need for next year. I won my first match of the season 2-0 though so things are looking promising for the mighty TAFFS WELL AFC .lol | | | | | 19-04-08, 03:10 PM | #53 (permalink) | | Important First Team Player Join Date: Apr 2008 Location: Sheffield Posts: 981 Thanks: 259 Thanked 202 Times in 196 Posts Nominated 2 Times in 1 Post TOTW/F/M Award(s): 0 | lol ticket prices have soared since last season by 2. Well done on win, lets hope this is your big break, mines looking like Workington, they have Burgess hill in nex round of cup, we are finishing in respectable position at the mo in 13th and have been unbeaten for 7 games, If I keep this up then we might sneek into play-offs. Good luck with rest of season, plus I've got the best GK coach ever. GK coaching = 20 Yth coaching = 20 With my first choise being 16 yrs old its the best I could hope for. | | | | | 19-04-08, 04:57 PM | #54 (permalink) | | Important First Team Player Join Date: Apr 2008 Location: Sheffield Posts: 981 Thanks: 259 Thanked 202 Times in 196 Posts Nominated 2 Times in 1 Post TOTW/F/M Award(s): 0 | Just won Manager of the Month award for January and also beat Burgess Hill to reach 4th round of FAT. Notice the Man of the Match performance from my Hong Kong national Poon Chun Man. 2 goals on his debut! heres the table. Only a few games in but doing well so far: | | | | | 19-04-08, 06:24 PM | #56 (permalink) | | Important First Team Player Join Date: Apr 2008 Location: Sheffield Posts: 981 Thanks: 259 Thanked 202 Times in 196 Posts Nominated 2 Times in 1 Post TOTW/F/M Award(s): 0 | well done mate, keep it up, you might just get into europe, is there a cup cos if you win that you'll be in europe. lol the cup luck just keeps running, was drawn against R&D or Kettering in my league, and guess what, Kettering won so in 4th round its Workington Vs Kettering for a place in the Semi-Final. Will post league soon. | | | | | 19-04-08, 07:15 PM | #57 (permalink) | | Backup To The First Team Join Date: Apr 2008 Posts: 218 Thanks: 33 Thanked 17 Times in 15 Posts Nominated 0 Times in 0 Posts TOTW/F/M Award(s): 0 | Ive had no cup luck got put out welsh cup in 1st round. But out of all the teams (non-league welsh teams, I could beat easily) I got drawn against TNS who are basically the most famous team in the welsh leagues. Really unlucky. Top 3 in my league get into Europe of some description though so I'm still in with a chance. | | | | | 19-04-08, 08:01 PM | #58 (permalink) | | Important First Team Player Join Date: Apr 2008 Location: Sheffield Posts: 981 Thanks: 259 Thanked 202 Times in 196 Posts Nominated 2 Times in 1 Post TOTW/F/M Award(s): 0 | ya it will be the Intertoto cup or Euro Vase, if you win 4 games and get to third round you enter UEFA Cup 2nd round on Qualifing, it just makes european football a little harder to get into. | | | | | 19-04-08, 08:23 PM | #59 (permalink) | | Backup To The First Team Join Date: Apr 2008 Posts: 218 Thanks: 33 Thanked 17 Times in 15 Posts Nominated 0 Times in 0 Posts TOTW/F/M Award(s): 0 | Aye like I say I wouldn't have a hope of winning it so I'll be happy with a few games against continential opposition, even if it is in the euro vase. | | | | 20-04-08, 12:56 PM | #60 (permalink) | | Important First Team Player Join Date: Apr 2008 Location: Sheffield Posts: 981 Thanks: 259 Thanked 202 Times in 196 Posts Nominated 2 Times in 1 Post TOTW/F/M Award(s): 0 | What a match I've just had, Workington Vs Boston, Boston take the lead in first half aganst the run of play. But then we get it back to 1-1 but in the last second of the match, My defender handballs in the box and gives them a Penalty. 16 year old Gavin Brookes is in net and looks nervous as Boston put the ball down for the Pen. He runs up ans hits it into the right hand corner, but Brookes saves it parrying it into the danger zone and Boston follow up, but Brookes recovers well and produces another save and the ball is cleared away as the games ends. Final Score 1-1 will post the league before the last game of the season cos it looks like it will go down to the wire. | | | | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | | All times are GMT.
