St Patrick's Athletic F.C. was founded in 1929. Before gaining league membership, St Patrick's Athletic dominated Leinster League football and they finally took their place in the League of Ireland in 1951 - winning the championship at their first attempt. Two more championship successes were to follow in 1954/55 and 1955/56. It was 1959 before the first FAI Cup success for "Pat's" and this cup triumph was repeated in 1961. The glory years of the fifties are fondly remembered, as are many of the great players who wore the famous red and white during that great era - Ginger O'Rourke, Harry Boland ('The Legend', 1926-2000), Shay Gibbons, Ronnie Whelan, Paul McGrath and Willie Peyton are names synonymous with the club to this day and many of them are still regulars today League Champions1951/52, 1954/55, 1955/56, 1989/90, 1995/96, 1996/98, 1998/99, 2001/02 Runners-Up1960/61, 1987/88 F.A.I. Your challenge (if you dare to accept it) is to get Pats back to the glory days.
1. Firstly you must win the League
2. Secondly you must qualify St. Pats for the Champions League proper
3. The biggest challenge in this game is to get Pats past the group stages of the Champions league (I have tried and failed to get out of the group)
Well there really arent many, sign who you want, the standard of Irish Domestic football is so poor, you will find it extremely hard to attract a decent standard.
Finances are a minimum also, low gate averages and a poor bank balance make this challenge extremely hard
As I said after 5 seasons I managed to get Pats to the Champions league group stage, were I managed to take some severe hidings (most notably a 7-0 hammering by Utd) I really dont expect anybody to be able to do better than I did
