Default Hugsville Rail

Well I am at some sort of stage where the loft is kind of ready to have a start layout in it.. The lighting needs to be sorted to the loft area but it will do for the moment..

Flooring has been laid over the main secion that will be walked on (the storage area where the junk is, is only 1/2 done!) and a 2nd layer of flooring over the walking area is only 1.2 done...

Here are a few pics of what it looks like as of today...There is still alot of work to do and alot of room for expansion in the future!

Stay tuned as I update this as often as I can and hopefully Santa does bring me the train set and other things I am building this for!!

It will be in 00 gauge.. and the loft space I have to use is about 30ft long by about 20ft wide.. So as time goes and money is found I will expand :)

This will be Hugsville County a new area somewhere in England as the population expansion grows throughout the UK..

We will follow the building of the villages and new area and villages found as time goes by.. As of yet there is no set date as of when the first residents will move into the new county!

Shame about the flag, kind of ruins it, otherwise good luck with it!

Christ, that's gonna be a pretty big project then. It'll be all worthwhile when it's done though!

Heres the first vid.. VERY dark in places.. but I am learning..

Some track has been laid to see what I am able to play with atm... not sure if it will be the final layout when I have more track

http://s24.photobucket.com/albums/c2...t=DSCF0210.flv

Now to explain it...
the closest rail will be the high speed express as it rumbles thru and around the loft. (I will probably remove the sidings on it and put them onto the 2nd track..)

2nd line is the normal trundling route which when the camera pans around the right hand bend will hopefully connect to the underground station I am currently building which have a hill on top.

3rd line will be for works wagons.. and shunting and the curves you see just on the bend will run under the ramps at the back of the view..whcih will hopefully have a turntable under it so I can "hide" things

the 2 lines racing up the back of the board and aroudn the corner will be the "Scenic Route" 1 up line and 1 down line witha turntable at each end.. and carry 2-3 small coaches up and down.. the top of the hill will be above the underground station and the bottom will be like a ye oldie station look to give it that museum look and somewhere wher eyou go to see the old days lol..

I know its poor quality filiming but I am in the proicess of gettin more lighting up there and with the little time I get due to not being able to spend every night up there its not easy...

The prototype of the station shown earier has measured up quite well.. just the tunnel needs to be made higher and the back of the wall need to be higher... exact detailin can be done in future versions

I'd go narrow gauge mate. Leaves you more room to play with. I've a few Graham Farish engines and stock lying around somewhere. Flirted with model rail for a brave few years but other commitments nailed it on the head. And my joinery skills are not up to scratch either. I'd be interested in seeing your layout on completion. Haven't been to an exibition for a few years now. But there was always a quality exibition put on in Bangor (N. Ireland) that aroused interest.

it will take many years to finish as I am building all the scenery by hand.. buildings, stations and everything... that image you see is about 1/4 of the full layout of the loft area...

just that section measures about 12ft long ..I still have some track to put down... and then start making the mountain at the back...

many many fun years to go :)

Spent most of this weeked and last weekend laying out some more track and getting a feel for the final layout for this section (well I hope final layout lol)

A shot of the section just before going under the road. The line at the bottom of the photo is the "fast" track.

A look out the whole layout from the road side..

A look of a rough layout of the station which will be slightly extended and have a set of stairs from the road section which will also have a few buildings on it.

A shot of further up the line at a closer view. the shunting yard is the middle section with a point gap back onto the main line. .
Also you can see the tunnel which is the middle line and the "scenic view line" which is running along the far right of the pic..

A look back down the line to the station and road cross over..

I have also worked out that Xmas lights can be powered by the batteries you see in the pictures... so that will give me a good start on making sure the wiring for the tunnels is correct before fixing it in place.
