Had fm 08 for a while but could never really get a good game going so i thought i would take the challenge of portsmouth on.first season expectations were a mid table finsh which with the squad i had i thought i would be able to do.

because of my lack of quality strikers i went for a 4-1-2-2-1 with defoe my main striker.
first season went better than expected i won the league cup against man u with a 3-2 victory.
and finshed 5th in the league taking me into the uefa cup.
all round a good first season.
second season the board wanted qualificaton to europe from league position which was going to be hard to top the season before.

signing benayoun for that price was a moment of madness and ended up being a dud along with malbranque.cuellar added a bit of steel to the defence and riquelme was a superb signing adding some much needed flair.
no cup wins this year got to the quarter final of the uefa cup where i was beaten by liverpool and finished 5th again.
3rd season the board wanted the same again although i was hoping i could break into the top 4 which would not be easy.

the signing of appiah ended up a snip with his trademark thunderbolts from 30 yards out.paid a lot of money for veloso it was worth it in the ended as he never really went under a 7 all season.near the end of the season fleck and marin started to come into there own with the two of them becoming wonderkids.
had a poor season in the cups getting put out in all three pretty early but this probably helped me in the league as i finshed a suprising 3rd.
after punching above my weight in the last season the board set me a unrealistic expectation of challenging for the league which i had no chance of winning i also had the champions league to think about now.

i bought zeefuik to help out defoe as i was relying on defoe too much to come up with the goals but he never hit form in strugglied to settle until nearer the end of the season.fazio turned out a great addition finshing the season with an average rating of 7.44.
struggled in the cups once again but seemed to keep my best performances for the champions league.sailed through my group with wins home and away against espanyol and unknown team unirea urziceni and draws home and away against inter.
i then played bayern in the next round i tough draw i thought but turned out alot easier than expected winning 3-1 home and away.
next round i drew psg.started with a 1-0 win at home and 1-1 draw away to take me to the semis where i would face inter.Inters class showed in the end drawing 2-2 at home and getting a 5-0 drubbing away.
another amazing season ended with me finishing 3rd again.
just about to start my 5th season and hopefully with a few good signings and a bit of luck i can challenge for the title!
