Default Arsenal - The next level

I have decided to actually be a premiership club on my own PC.

I wanted to win the league but not being Man Utd or Chelsea. I normally choose Man City or Newcastle but I thought; why not be a better team?!

Arsenal was the choice - Relatively rich and some good players. Why Not?!

The first step

I came in and immediately looked at the squad. I had a look around and thought that a defender, midfielder and striker was in order - and a few youngsters as an investment. These are my signings at 12th August 2007;

Obviously, pre-season was the topic. With 2 games in Portugal against Paços Ferreira & Vitoria Setúbal. With nobody bought yet, the P. Ferreira game went with a strong, current Arsenal side, toying with players and tactics.

Paços Ferreira 1-1 Arsenal

Dominating from start to finish, Arsenal couldn't convert their chances into goals, luckily scoring in the last minute to save them from embarrassment.

Starting 11:
1. Manuel Almunia 7
2. William Gallas (c) 7
3. Eboué 6
4. Kolo Touré 7
5. Mathieu Flamini 7
6. Gaël Clichy 7
7. Aliaksandr Hleb 7
8. Francesc Fabregas 6
9. Tomas Rosicky 7
10. Emmanuel Adebayor 7
11. Robin van Persie 6
Subs:
12. Jens Lehmann 7
14. Theo Walcott 7
15. Eduardo 7 (Scored)
16. Denílson 7
17. Philippe Senderos 6
18. Justin Hoyte 7
19. Armand Traoré 7
20. Abou Diaby 7
21. Nicklas Bendtner 6
22. Johan Djourou 7

Brought on all subs - only Flamini wasn't replaced.

Vitoria Setúbal 1-2 Arsenal

Starting 11:
1. Manuel Almunia 7
2. William Gallas (c) 7
3. Eboué 7
4. Kolo Touré 7
5. Mathieu Flamini 7
6. Gaël Clichy 7
7. Gabriel Torje 7
8. Francesc Fabregas 7
9. Tomas Rosicky 7 (Scored) (MOTM)
10. Emmanuel Adebayor 6
11. Robin van Persie 7
Subs:
12. Jens Lehmann 7
14. Theo Walcott 7
15. Eduardo 6
16. Denílson 7

21. Nicklas Bendtner 7 (Scored)
22. Johan Djourou 7
23. Aliaksandr Hleb 6

Another last-gasp goal, this time to seal victory. Well deserved as the stats show. Torje's début!

Sampdoria 1-2 Arsenal

Starting 11:
1. Manuel Almunia 7
2. Kolo Touré (c) 7
3. Emmanuel Eboué 6
4. Vincent Kompany 8
5. Mathieu Flamini 7
6. Gaël Clichy 7
7. Gabriel Torje 6
8. Rafael van der Vaart 7 (Scored)
9. Robin van Persie 7

11. Eduardo 6
Subs:

14. Theo Walcott 6
15. Tomas Rosicky 7
16. Denílson 6
17. Philippe Senderos 6
18. Emmanuel Adebayor 7 (Scored)
19. Armand Traoré 7
20. Henri Saivet 6
21. Nicklas Bendtner 6
22. Francesc Fabregas 6
23. Aliaksandr Hleb -
24. William Gallas 6

I feel I deserved a win, although I battled harder than the other 2 games. A 3rd last-minute goal in as many games... Sheer luck or grit and determination?

UPDATING MORE TOMORROW - RAN OUT OF TIME TONIGHT!
