Ant, me old mucker, thanks for replying to my post. Cole, Yorke, Giggs??? Not sure I remember them

I also had to chuckle at the Regis/Ardiles bit, sorry mate but Regis (Big Cyrille) played for West Brom and Coventry during the late 70's and 80's, and Ardiles played for Spurs during the same period. You might be thinking of Villa (Ricky) and Ardiles.
One slight problem with just using a team from a specific year (especially 80's and earlier) is that they didn't use many players. For example, when Villa (Aston not Ricky) won the title in 1981, they only used 14 players. Benitez used more in the first 2 games of this season

. So it may be better to consider decades?
As for Hull City, they played in the first football match I went to see. 1975 at Fulham, it was my 8th birthday and my Dad took me to see them. Fulham had Bobby Moore, George Best, Rodney Marsh and Allan Mullery and Hull had Billy Bremner. Game ended 0-0 and I don't really know why I didn't support Fulham but I guess it was because I already had my heart on Liverpool by then.
Even if this idea doesn't quite get off the ground, I'd be interested in knowing more about how you make teams up on this game, so all ideas are welcome.
For us 'old'ns' its a shame you can't make up new competitions as well. I'd like to resurrect the Home International Championships. If anyone knows if it can be done I'd be really interested.
Good luck with the promotion push this season, ant
