Hot Prospects June 2007 Hot Prospects Sighing loudly to myself I sat down with the free-ads and a cup of coffee. A quick check through the motoring section revealed no old bangers I needed to buy for an extortionate amount of money, and do up and then sell at a loss. Flicking through the pets section revealed there would be no fast money to be made from selling hamsters or budgerigars either. I needed a job. Fast. Mortgage payments were two months behind, My long-suffering partner Tamsin was working two jobs, and since I’d been very ill, and signed off then subsequently been made redundant from doing my job in the building trade, we needed some money to come in pretty quickly. My eye alighted on a small, unboxed ad, pretty nondescript in the bottom corner. Nothing special, just wanting what was detailed as a part time manager for a youth team at an “as yet” unknown football club. There were few else details, just a mobile number. “What the heck?” I thought to myself. I’d had a little experience in managing at a small club in my home town of Westbury, and developed their youth team into a formidable football club within 4 years. I couldn’t play anymore due to illness, but I was damn sure I could still spot a raw talent or two. None of my motivation for the game was lost either. It might not be the same money coming into the household as before, but any pennies were better than none. I rang the number. |
