Barcelona Bought messi back in the year 2000 from newells old boys and was put in the barca youth team for 3 years until they thought that he was good enough to make the step up. He made his official debut against Espanyol on 16 October 2004 and scored his first goal against Albacete. In June 2004, he got his chance, playing in an under-20 friendly match against Paraguay. In 2005 he was part of the team that won the Under-20 World Cup in Holland. He also won the prize for best player of the tournament. So far messi has scored 30 goals in 72 games and he has had 26 caps for Argentina scoring 8 goals.
