The first pre season game was over the final score was: Wallsall 1 - 2 Aston Villa Walsall were ahead after 33 minutes a goal from Tommy Mooney and Villa didn't attack much for the rest of the first half. They players come out for the 2nd half and Ashley Young hit the crossbar with a cracking shot which deserved to be a goal but it was'nt to be. No more goals came until the 83rd minute when Zat Knight scored. On the 88th minute the sub Luke Moore flicked the ball on from a corner and it was advantage Villa. There were a few more shots in the game after that but Villa went on to win the game. On the 17th July, Ryan made his first signing in Paulo Ferreira for 1.7m from Chelsea.  On the same date Aston Villa confirmed there new link with Blue Square Premier team Kidderminster Harriers which mean Villa could send players on loan. Brive-La-Gaillarde 1 - 3 Aston Villa Louhans-Cuiseaux 0 - 3 Aston Villa Pidd raided his old club Ipswich and signed Jai Reason a player he said, "massive potential, and could be in an England youth top within a few years." He also signed young striker Jordan Rhodes from Ipswich for a free of 1.4m pounds. FC Metz 0 - 2 Aston Villa Pidd admited he would love to make Andrey Arshavin a Aston Villa player, he is thought to cost around 5m.  A tranfer fee with CSKA for Jo was agreed, and then the contract was agreed and Jo looked to be a Aston Villa player but failed with a work permit. Darren O'Dea on the other hand was signed from Celtic for 2.4m  |
