I find that if i have some promising talent in the u18's and they seem to perform well for the u18 side then i move them to the reserves for a certain amount of time and see how they perform then, i also pay attention to my coach reports and if they state so and so would benefit learning from a senior player i use that aspect of the game to help nurture his talent, as for loaning players out i dont normally do that till the players get to a certain age (19/20) thats if there not in the first team by then, as i find that playing reserve team football along side some of my fringe senior players is better than playing 2/3 or even 4 leagues below where my club is, and like the others i normally play a mixed team of seniors and the best youngsters at the club in cup games and non important league games, hope this has helped abit mate.
