I am totally against this stupid idea. Sure it would be an awesome idea for the overseas fans of our clubs. But as stated before, this decision isn't about the fans, it's about the money men of the Premier League. The Premier League makes enough money as it is, otherwise why would there be such a berth between the finances of Premier League clubs and Championship clubs. Another downside is the fact that this '39th' game will be randomly drawn. What if it was like last season, where Wigan and Sheffield United both needed a win to stay up and Sheff Utd drew Chelsea, United etc and Wigan drew Watford? There would be a very good chance that it would be Wigan that stayed up. Does that then mean the Premier League chiefs would pay compensation to Sheff United coz they might've stayed up if it wasn't for the 39th game. Hyperthetically speaking of course. Not to mention the fact that most of the Prem clubs have such a congested fixture list every season, plus internationals. Our players are gonna burn out! If the Premier League chiefs feel the need to raise money, give it to the smaller clubs that are struggling to maintain a status in professional football due to their financial difficulties! But that's clearly not what's going on here. It's all about lining the pockets of the EPL head honchos. It's such a stupid idea that clearly shows the idiots like Scudamore wasn't thinking about the fans or the smaller clubs. Y.N.W.A. - Ru. |
