Default March 2008 Review

Friar Eyes City Dominance!

Manchester City manager Joe Friar has recentley spoke out about how he hopes to make City into a "top world club". At a recent press conference the inexperienced manager told the media how he now plans to turn Manchester City into a team worthy of winning the Champions' League. After the recent comments, many pundits are comparing Friar to James Leach who sensationally took Newcastle to the Champions' League title in the mid 1980s.
"The Newcastle side of 1983-87 was brilliant and it is one that Joe wants to emulate in his City squad" stated MCFC TV's Adam Westlake. "If you mix that with the Arsenal of today then you have got the ideal team for him (Friar)."
At the start of the season City were eyeing up a UEFA Cup place and the former England captain has gone beyong ambitions as the club are now challenging their bitter rivals Manchester United for a Premiership runner's up medal.
"We are happy that we have exceded expectations. I am glad that we have proved to everyone how good we are!" claimed Friar at the Manchester press conference. "If you look at the players that have joined this club: Martins, Lennon, Riquelme etc. It is because they all want to be a part of the future of Manchester City and to help the team as best they can."
As far as games were concerned City faired well in March up until the final 2 games. Wins over Portsmouth, Sunderland and West Ham in league, matched by a supprise win over Chelsea in the cup.
Then a good month turned bad as Chelsea turned up to beat City 3-1 at the City of Manchester before a terrible 7-3 (no thats not an error) loss to Manchester United at Old Trafford. Resignation went through the managers head!
