Cameroon my story is this, i took charge of cameroon, don't ask me why, thinking it could be fun managing my first team in africa, little did i know of the success i was to achieve. i had quite a decent squad to start off with, ranging from the veteran defender rigobert song to the prospect of the one who played in the real madrid c team, i forgot his name, i also had stars such as, samuel eto'o and kameni, thrown in for good measure. my first cup was the 2008 african cup of nations, during the qualifying stages i beat botswana 12 - 0! i sailed through the group stages finishing top of my group, which included, the ivory coast and also senegal. i won the quater final 1 - 0 against morroco. then the semis 2 -0, returning to play the ivory coast, and then beat egypt on penalties to lift the trophy. next i found the challenging task of beating nigeria to qualify for the 2010 world cup, which i did. i was dealt a cruel group in the first stage, drawn alongside both england and brazil, i finished second in this group, england going out. unfortunately i had to play the mighty brazil in the quaters which resulted in a 2 - 1 defeat. although disappointed to exit i felt i had done well. during the space of time which followed i was offered the england job, which i rejected, then offerred the peru one, no thankyou. 2012 came and back to the african nations, by this time a lot of key players had retired, such as song, geremi, makoun and eto'o was past it, i did however manage to finish runner up. 2014 and i played my last tournament for cameroon, i had qualified for the world cup again, but was knocked out at the groups. after this i decide to take over a club, liverpool, which turned out well, winning the league with my star player bojan. i felt id done well for a 13 year old! |
