 Andriy Nesmachnyi August 2007 Review August turned out to be a good opening month for City with some inspired results and performances. Two more signings were confirmed after the last 2 updates. Claudio Pizarro arrived on a 5 month loan from Chelsea while Ukraine international Andriy Nesmachnyi put pen to paper to confirm a £7 million deal from Dinamo Kiev. August also saw Liberian striker Alex Temwah Nimely emerge from the Under 18 side to make his debut for the 1st team in the Carling Cup 2nd round against Tranmere. The months results went like this: 11th Aug - PRM Fulham (H) Result: W 1-0 Goals: Elano (19) Man of the match: Elano 11 14th Aug - PRM Derby (H) Result: W 2-0 Goals: Bojinov (44), Elano (74) Man of the match: Bojinov 29 18th Aug - PRM Aston Villa (A) Result: L 3-2 Goals: Elano (20,51) Man of the match: Fernandes 28 25th Aug - PRM Reading (A) Result W 3-1 Goals: Ireland (79), Elano (86), Martins (90) Man of the match: Ireland 7 29th Aug - CCR2 Tranmere (A) Result W 1-0 Goals: Benjani (87) Man of the match: Thiago 39 Other info: Face Burnley in the 3rd Round. Manager's comments: A great month for everyone at the club. Some great results and we were unlucky to loose to a Villa side that just wouldn't give up. A late goal is always hard to take but we got on with things and focused on the next game. It was good to progress to the next round of the cup. The cup is one of our main aims this season. Doing well in that will propell us towards a European place. We face a tough test against Burnley and they will come to Eastlands thinking the pressure is all on us and they can pull of an upset.
