England began the road to Euro 2008 with an important away win over Romania. The romanians began the brighter side and would have taken the lead had it not been from some fantastic saves from goalkeeper Chris Kirkland. England also had chances with Michael Owen and Steven Gerrad missing some shots. In the second half England began the more confident side and they were rewarded when on the 56th minute captain David Beckham smashed home a 30 yard free kick. England continued to dominte but failed to find the net until the 90th minute when substitute Carlton Cole scored through a break away.
