Torino was in all sorts of problems going to the match, Elvis Abbruscato was put onto bench despite injury troubles he was having, Marco Pisano and Alessandro Rosina were banned alongside manager Tanel Tursk as assistant manager Antoine Rodriquez took over. Though there were also positive news as Simone Barone was on bench after recovering from broken leg earlier this season in UEFA Cup against Aalborg. Milan got the first chance of the game already on first minute when Kaka's cheeky pass flew over defenders for fellow Brazilian Ricardo Oliveira, but another Brazilian, goalkeeper Marcelo Grohe, brilliantly closed down and saved the low shot. And two minutes later Roberto Stellone earned a free-kick at the other end which he brilliantly curled in from 25 meters out and put Torino ahead. Pirlo's free-kick at near post was caught by Grohe, but Milan had a penalty claim as Oliveira claimed himself to be pushed by Marco Andreolli in the area when fighting for Andrea Barzagli's free-kick. Milan didn't need a penalty though as Andreolli headed the ball for corner and Pirlo curled it far over the players into the path of Arne Friedrich who brilliantly struck the ball to far post 15 metres from the net. Silva got a yellow-card before Dida made a brilliant flying reaction save on Roberto Stellone's header from penalty spot as Marco Andreolli had delivered a fine cross from deep. Pirlo got another free-kick which he curled over and Gabriel Tamas saw his shot deflected into the path of Cacau who was denied by fantastic Dida at near post. Pirlo's set pieces were dangerous and Alberto Gilardino's header was saved by Grohe under the bar. This was the last of first half as Andrea Mei came on for Cecilio Velazquez at half-time and Simone Padoin moved to left-back while Gabriel Tamas took his position in central midfielder. Tamas was having an usually good match and got very close to scoring, but his free-kick from 28 meters out flew just over the top corner. After nearly 25 minutes of no events on pitch, Torino brought on Abbruscato and Barone, the later playing for the first time since October. Oliveira combined nicely with Kaka and dribbled his way past Schiavi before seeing his central shot tipped over by Grohe. Nikola Lazetic limped off with an injury, leaving Torino with ten men for final 15 minutes. It didn't seem to trouble Torino right away as Silva, one of the seven Brazilians to play on this afternoon, curled his free-kick to the side net from the edge of the area. Though then Milan started dominating and Torino had to thank the lack of composure of Milan players as Clarence Seedorf, Goran Pandev and Alberto Gilardino all missed good opportunities, the later hitting wide from five meters after a brilliant pass from Seedorf. With Sampdoria drawing, the gap with second remained four points for Granata, but Inter beat Juventus and now is also tied with Sampdoria and Roma who beat Torino's next opponent Udinese.
