FA TROPHY SECOND ROUND
CRAWLEY UNITED VS TAMWORTH
The part timers take on debt-ridden Crawley.
Crawley United's website today reported that manager Sam Draisey was holding a special 'concert' at the teams stadium to raise money for the bankrupt club. The young crooner, armed with a guitar and microphone, strode out to the centre circle to belt out some of his own songs in the hope of raising a bit of a transfer kitty! The several thousand onlookers were somewhat impressed, with one lady stating that she would let him 'marry her grandaughter'. Reports of a public wedding in the centre circle were laughed off by both parties, though they did share a drink in the players lounge!
Dear Diary,
Steve Coppell got the vacant job at Bolton today. One day I hope to be in a job like that. I want to manage at the highest level. I want to know the pressures, feel the highs and lows of top flight management. We shall see. I really dont see my future at Crawley, though I wouldnt tell anyone. The club has no money, and while i really want to do well for the fans here, I just dont see us moving forwards. We are really in trouble financially and its getting worse. Its close the half a million now. I dont want to be seen as the 'guy who abandons a sinking ship', but I feel a little trapped. There is little to look forward to and not much to build on. We will see.
