Sunday had arrived and I was not looking forward to a family christening. I love my house clothes to such an extent, that to put on a suit nowadays makes me so uncomfortable. Family were arriving from Buckinghamshire and I was to lead the vehicles through London's maze. The Catholic church we attended was big and cold...and that was just the Priest!! What a horrible man he was. Things have certainly changed since I was last in the Popes backyard. You can share in the communion bread but the priest gets all the communion wine??

The after party was set at the Music Palace in Crouch End and Our Turkish friends proved gracious hosts. But as the night ended my thoughts turned to revitalising FC's fortunes in the next batch of games.

Without my NO.1 keeper Mason, things could be tricky. I was warned by my staff not to sign the stand in that I did but if I did'nt our destiny would be in a raw 16 yr old fresh from School.

Well...first off we visited Farsley Celtic and found the wet conditions tricky. On 29 minutes I managed to get on the end of a Patterson left wing centre to tap home. Patterson has failed to score all season but his contribution in our attacking has been good of late. On 74 minutes we almost blew it as Centre back Hooper cleared off the line to preserve the win.

We were entitled to feel upbeat going into the home clash with Leigh RMI but encountered strong winds and driving rain and were washed out 1-3. We were 0-2 down before a Josh Howard goal briefly threatened the comeback. Chris Simms hit a brace for RMI as our defence yet again failed to keep a game tight. Our forwards were guilty of wasting a host of chances in this undeserved defeat.

Things grew worse for us as we travelled to Hinckley a team with it's own trouble. They were without a win in their last 5 games until Ryan Gilligan met our defence and was handed a hat trick in a 6-1 romp. Orr was one on one with the keeper late on to grab a consolation, but it was to be a hard pill to swallow. I made no effort to speak to the lads, I felt I should allow the magnitude of the desolation to soak into their pores. They had let the club down and the fans down and if it happens again, then there wil be hell to pay.

Speaking of hell to pay...there were other managers who paid with there jobs. Gravesend sacked Liam Diash with the press tipping me as a candidate. Although they later signed Steve Wignall. Darlington axed David Hodgson for Kevin Summerfield, and Swansea swapped Kenny Jackett for Doug Livermore. In the last of the merry go rounds, Welling sacked Adrian pennock for Graham Westley.

The FA Trophy draw was unkind to us as League Leaders Stalybridge was drawn out the hat to visit us at Gigg Lane. They had beaten us at their place in the league in a 4-3 thriller and have gone on to a 13 game unbeaten run. We did'nt have a hope but I had to find some and instil it quickly into my team. It's a cup game and anything can happen in the cup..just ask fergie who has just seen his side crash out of the League Cup to Sheff Wednesday 1-0.

Sunday did'nt end well for me as in the real world Arsenal came back from a goal down to unjustly beat Wigan 2-1. I'm worried by the gunners cause they are likely to win every game to the end of the season. What a threat they will be next year! This has been "fly on the wall" see you again soon.
