Kris Boyd (Sebo 45) Rapid Wien tonight proved too strong for the light blues as Rangers threw away a lead in the Gerhard-Hannappi Stadion. Kris Boyd opened the scoring after 34mins after a slick passing move involving Charlie Adam and Nacho Novo which lead to Boyd finishing off the move. The Austrians equalised after 38mins when an inswinging corner from Martin Hiden found the head of captain Markus Steiner and he powered home. Rangers went in at half-time and stand-in manager for the evening Yves Colleu made 11 changes bringing on a totally different team for the second half. Rapid got the winner after 72mins when a poor backpass from Steven Lennon allowed Mario Hishkel the time and space to slide past the on-rushing Allan McGregor. In the end it was a poor result for Rangers but they won't mind as it was a meaningless friendly. |
