There was small injury crises for Torino with Alessandro Rosina, Andre Zuba, Ivan Franceschini and Stefano Fiore out of action. Cristiano Lupatelli and defender Matteo Melara made their first performances of the season thanks to that. The match started off slow as Claudio Rivalta got yellow carded for an ugly two-footed challenge on Abbruscato, but no chances game until the middle of the half. Nicola Ventola's header in the 31st minute though wasn't really threatening former Fiorentina goalkeeper Lupatelli as it was soft and in the end flew few meters wide of the goal aswell. Though Nerazzurri was threatening with quick fast attacks and Brazilian Ferreira Pinto went really close to net againist Toro, as he beat defender Marco Di Loreto for a header from dozen meters flew just wide, but Lupatelli would've been helpless in case it would've been on target. Ferreira Pinto goes close Though Torino woke up after than and soon got a chance of their own, but a free-kick from Di Loreto flew into sidenet and the boring half had ended goalless. Despite attacking players Cedric Konan and Roberto Stellone having really disappointing nights Tursk opted for no changes at half-time, but twenty minutes into the half he did bring in new players as the 25 000 spectators around Olimpico really had a reason to yawn. Veteran Fabio Gallo steped in for Cedric Konan and Iacopo Balestri got another substitution performance by replacing slightly knocked Nikola Lazetic in the left wing. Tissone's long range effort didn't trouble Torino and soon after only a brilliant save from Alex Calderoni prevented Il Granata to take the lead as Roberto Stellone broke free of his marker in the box, but his shot wasn't top class leaving a chance for goalkeeper to save it. Torino was pressing hard for the final fifteen minutes or so, but Elvis Abbruscato effort in the injury time flew miles over the bar. Toro though got a final chance to win the game as Iacopo Balestri was stoped down the left wing with a foul and Diego De Ascentis steped up to make the cross which found defender Di Loreto who's absolutely brilliant header flew into the top corner of the net! Fantastic Di Loreto header secures victory! The assister De Ascentis was voted Sky Italia's man of the match and Torino got another Coppa Italia victory as they've now won two Serie A opponents with great displays and the season ahead with Estonian tactician Tanel Tursk looks promising.
